London Pound Cake Strain: Cookies' Dessert Indica
The London Pound Cake strain is an indica-dominant hybrid from Cookies, bred from Sunset Sherbet and a heavy indica the breeders never officially named. It smells like a bakery case with a gas can in the corner — butter, vanilla, lemon and sweet berry over a musky OG funk — and it smokes calm and focused at first before settling into a heavy, relaxed body. It's also one of the most-used parents of the modern dessert era, behind Candy Rain, Cheetah Piss and dozens more. It fits the dessert-and-gas corner of our THCA flower collection.
It also gets confused constantly — with Lemon Pound Cake (a completely different, sativa-leaning strain), with "Pound Cake" menus that might be either, and with numbered cuts like LPC 75 and LPC 97. Below: what's known about the lineage and where sources disagree, the numbered phenotypes, how it tastes and feels, how strong it really is, how to use it, how to grow it and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at London Pound Cake's frosty buds.

- Type: Indica-dominant hybrid. SeedFinder and AllBud both put it around 70% indica / 30% sativa; Leafly files it as a hybrid but describes it as indica-dominant.
- Ancestry: Sunset Sherbet (Mr. Sherbinski's GSC × Pink Panties cross) × an undisclosed indica.
- Breeder: Cookies (Cookies Fam Genetics), credited on Leafly and SeedFinder.
- THC: Leafly lists 20%; AllBud 26–29%; grow and retail guides cite 20–30%.
- CBD: Negligible, usually under 1%. Leafly lists about 1% CBG.
- Aliases: London Poundcake, Pound Cake, LPC, LDP; numbered cuts sold as LPC 75 and LPC 97.
The secret second parent
Cookies has never officially published the second parent. Leafly calls it "an unknown heavy-hitting indica," AllBud an "indica-heavy hybrid," and Vivosun and PAX simply an undisclosed indica. Two sources do name it: the Cookies dispensary listing for London Pound Cake #75 gives the cross as Sunset Sherbert × NIP OG, and SeedFinder lists the second parent as an unknown indica, "possibly" NIP OG. Treat NIP OG as the likeliest answer, not settled fact — and if a seller names some other parent, ask where it came from.
LPC 75 vs LPC 97: the numbered cuts
Like most Cookies releases, London Pound Cake was selected from a numbered seed hunt, and two keeper numbers turn up on menus and in pedigrees:
- London Pound Cake #75: the cut Cookies stores sell by name. Their listing describes "gassy, sweet blueberry notes paired with a hint of lemongrass," a menthol-cool first taste, OG musk and a sweet finish. It's the LPC parent in crosses such as Pancakes (LPC #75 × Kush Mint #11, per SeedFinder).
- London Pound Cake #97: best known as a parent of Cheetah Piss (Lemonnade × Gelato 42 × London Poundcake 97).
Neither Cookies nor the major databases publish a side-by-side breakdown of how #75 and #97 differ, so be wary of anyone who claims to know exactly. SeedFinder also notes that Cookies never released London Pound Cake as feminized seeds — it circulated as a clone-only cut, and the seeds you see online are other breeders' versions.
A parent of the dessert era
SeedFinder lists 91 direct descendants of London Pound Cake. The best known include Candy Rain (Gelato × London Pound Cake), Cheetah Piss, Cake Mix, Animal 75, Black Cherry Pound Cake and London Pound Mints (London Pound Cake × Kush Mints). Through Candy Rain it's also a grandparent of Space Runtz.
London Pound Cake Terpene Profile
Leafly lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and myrcene — though its own description names myrcene first, and PAX and Vivosun lead with myrcene too. The Cookies #75 listing names caryophyllene and limonene. Expect all three near the top, with linalool and humulene in smaller amounts. Caryophyllene stands out: a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, spice, the OG musk
Limonene — lemon zest and lift
Myrcene — earthy, heavy body
Linalool — soft floral, calm
Typical relative profile for London Pound Cake — caryophyllene-led per Leafly. Some batches read myrcene-forward and heavier.
- Caryophyllene: The peppery, spicy backbone behind the OG musk, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: The lemon note and the bright, focused lift at the start — inherited from the Sunset Sherbet side.
- Myrcene: Earthy and musky; it's the likely driver of the heavy, sleepy finish users report.
- Linalool: A soft floral note in some cuts that adds to the calm.
The butter-and-vanilla "pound cake" note isn't one terpene — it's the blend, and it's strongest in a slow-cured jar.
Appearance
London Pound Cake grows dense, rounded-to-spade-shaped buds in olive to deep green. AllBud describes "dense spade-shaped olive green nugs with lots of thin orange hairs" under a coat of frosty amber-tinged trichomes, and PAX notes purple streaks and occasional dark purple leaves. Cooler late-flower nights bring out more purple. Expect a sticky, resin-heavy bud that breaks up dense rather than airy.
Aroma and Flavor: What Does London Pound Cake Taste Like?
It earns the name. The jar opens sweet — butter, vanilla and lemon (Leafly's three listed flavors), with berry and grape behind them — then grinding releases a gassy, musky OG funk and a peppery spice. AllBud adds earthy, woody notes with "nutty lemon and fruity berries." The Cookies #75 listing describes gassy sweet blueberry and lemongrass, with a menthol-cool first taste and an OG-musk middle; Theory Wellness lists "OG musk mixed with gassy menthol, and a sweet finish of earthy berries, grapes, and citrus." In a vaporizer, PAX describes vanilla and dough with a creamy, buttery aftertaste.
Recreational Effects
London Pound Cake is a slow, steady builder rather than a fast hitter. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.6 rating from 357 reviews, the top-reported effects are sleepy, tingly and relaxed; AllBud's reviewers add calming, creative, focused and uplifting. In practice that means:
- Calm focus first: the Sunset Sherbet side clears the mind and lifts the mood without racing.
- Tingly body: a warm, full-body tingle builds within the first half hour.
- Relaxed: muscles loosen and the couch gets more appealing.
- Sleepy: at higher doses or late at night, the indica parent takes over.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a gentle, happy mood lift and a clearer head.
- 20–60 minutes: the body high builds — tingly, heavy and calm, with the focus fading into relaxation.
- 1–3 hours: a long, heavy taper; many people end the session asleep. Vivosun puts total duration at 2–4 hours.
Because it builds slowly, the most common mistake is taking a third and fourth hit before the second has landed.

London Pound Cake's dense, frosty buds roll into a slow-burning joint on a cream marble tray.

How Strong Is London Pound Cake?
Strong, but not a record-chaser. The published numbers spread widely:
- Leafly: 20% THC and about 1% CBG.
- AllBud: 26–29% THC.
- Vivosun: 20–30%, with CBD under 1%.
- PAX: about 20% on average, with some phenotypes reportedly near 30%.
Read that as a solid mid-20s strain whose top batches push higher. It feels stronger than the number suggests because of how heavy the body effect gets — most people find two or three hits plenty for an evening.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a London Pound Cake batch against the 20–29% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
London Pound Cake vs Lemon Pound Cake, Sunset Sherbet and Similar Strains
- vs Lemon Pound Cake: the most common mix-up, and they're unrelated. Lemon Pound Cake is a sativa-leaning Lemon Skunk × Cheese cross — sour lemon over cheesy funk, with a talkative, energetic high. London Pound Cake is Cookies' indica-dominant Sunset Sherbet cross — butter, vanilla and berry over OG musk, with a calm, heavy body. If you want to get things done, it's Lemon; if you want the couch, it's London. (One exception: Nation of Kamas sells a modern "Lemon Pound Cake" that actually descends from LPC #75 — ask which one you're getting.)
- vs Sunset Sherbet: the parent. Sunset Sherbet is fruitier and more balanced; London Pound Cake keeps the dessert sweetness but adds gas, a bakery note and a much heavier body.
- vs Candy Rain: its Gelato-crossed child — grape candy instead of butter-lemon, more giggly and a bit lighter.
- vs Cheetah Piss: a descendant via LPC 97, but with sharp citrus funk and a far more energetic, functional high.
- vs Sherb Cake and Wedding Cake: other "cake" dessert strains in the same Cookies-adjacent family. Sherb Cake (Sunset Sherbet × Wedding Cake) is its closest cousin on paper.
- vs Lemon Cherry Gelato: another Sunset Sherbet descendant (Sunset Sherbet × GSC) — candied lemon and cherry over a creamy base, happy then relaxed. It's the closest match on our shelf.
Who London Pound Cake Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: evening smokers, dessert-strain fans, people who want to unwind after work, movies, big meals and winding down toward bed.
Poor fit: anyone who needs to stay productive, and true beginners who might over-serve on a slow-building strain. For a heavier, gassier evening option on our shelf, Mule Fuel leans further into earthy fuel.
How to Use London Pound Cake THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the butter and vanilla. Around 350–375°F keeps the lemon and berry bright; 390–410°F brings out the pepper, dough and heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait a full 15–20 minutes — this one builds slowly. Regular users usually find two or three hits is a full evening. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 35% of reviewers).
- Low mood: about 24% of reviewers.
- Stress: about 23% of reviewers.
- Sleep and winding down: "sleepy" is among its top-reported effects, so many use it at night.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — Leafly's most-reported negatives.
- Headache — also on Leafly's list, usually from overdoing it.
- Couch-lock and grogginess — the heavy body can linger into the next morning at high doses.
- Dizziness or anxiety — occasionally reported in people sensitive to high THC.
Is London Pound Cake good for sleep? Many users say yes — it's one of its most-reported effects. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is London Pound Cake Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Make sure it's London, not Lemon. A sour-lemon-and-cheese jar labeled "Pound Cake" is probably Lemon Pound Cake.
- Ask which cut. A good seller knows whether it's LPC 75, LPC 97 or a seed-grown version from another breeder.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Butter and gas together. A real London Pound Cake smells sweet and bakery-like with a musky OG edge; flat or grassy means a rushed cure.
- Dense, frosty, sticky buds with resin inside the bud, not just on top.
Growing London Pound Cake
Growers generally rate London Pound Cake easy to moderate — PAX calls it beginner-friendly, and SeedFinder notes it grows well indoors or out. Its main weakness is dense buds that invite mold.
- Flowering: about 8–10 weeks indoors (PAX says most plants finish flowering in about 8).
- Yield: about 400–500 g/m² indoors and up to 600 g per plant outdoors, per Vivosun.
- Training: top early and use low-stress training or a screen of green to open the canopy.
- Environment: warm, dry and well-ventilated — keep humidity down late in flower. Cooler nights near the end bring out purple.
- Outdoors: harvest around late October in the Northern Hemisphere; give heavy colas support.
- Seeds: Cookies' original was clone-only; feminized seeds sold online (Premium Cultivars, Zamnesia and others) are those breeders' own versions.
