Pink Panties Strain: The Quiet Mother of Sunset Sherbet
The Pink Panties strain is a clone-only indica from the California Cookie Fam circle — a Burmese Kush crossed with an OG cut, associated with the breeder Mr. Sherbinski. On its own it's a floral, berry-sweet, relaxing smoke with a sleepy finish. Its bigger claim to fame is genetic: Pink Panties is the mother of Sunset Sherbet, which in turn helped create Gelato. It fits the sweet, wind-down corner of our THCA flower collection.
Despite that pedigree, Pink Panties rarely shows up on menus. Sherbinski himself has said it wasn't a great indoor yielder, so it was hardly ever grown commercially, and today the name also covers several unrelated seed lines. Below: the real origin story, where the sources disagree on lineage, what it tastes like, how the high unfolds, how strong it actually is, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Pink Panties's frosty buds.

- Type: Indica or indica-dominant. Leafly, Weedmaps and HashDash list it as indica; AllBud and HeyAbby put it at about 70% indica / 30% sativa.
- Ancestry: Burmese Kush × an OG cut. Leafly calls it "a cross of Burmese Kush and a Florida Kush backcross"; AllBud says Burmese Kush × Florida Kush.
- Breeder: Credited to Mr. Sherbinski, working within the Cookie Fam. Weedmaps says he first cultivated the clone-only cut around 2011.
- THC: HashDash 16%; Leafly 19%; Weedmaps 17–25%; AllBud 20–24%; HeyAbby 18–26%.
- CBD and CBG: CBD is negligible (HeyAbby estimates about 0.5%). Leafly and HashDash list about 1% CBG.
- Aliases: "Pkp" on Leafly. Not the same as Pink Panty Dropper, which SeedFinder lists as a separate strain.
The origin story — straight from Sherbinski
In a High Times interview, Sherbinski described Pink Panties as a cross of Burmese pollen that Jigga, of the Cookie Fam, had, with a Larry OG cut he called the "Ish Cut." He then put a male seedling into a flowering room full of Cookies, and it pollinated them. In his words, "the seeds from that cookies crossed to Pink Panties would become the Sherbert." He calls Pink Panties "the parent to the Sherbert" and says it was rarely produced commercially because it "wasn't that great of a yielder inside."
That's the short family tree: Pink Panties × Girl Scout Cookies gave Sunset Sherbet; Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint Cookies gave the Gelato line — Gelato #33, Gelato #41, Bacio Gelato and Mochi among them. A huge share of today's dessert strains trace back to this one rarely seen clone.
Where the sources disagree
- The OG parent. Leafly, AllBud and HeyAbby say Florida Kush (HeyAbby calls it Sherbinski's personal OG pheno). Sherbinski himself named a Larry OG "Ish Cut." Weedmaps gives two versions: Burmese Kush × a Florida Kush backcross, or an OG Kush mother × Burmese Blackberry Kush. All agree on a Burmese Kush side and an OG side; the exact OG cut is the open question.
- Indica or hybrid. Pure indica on three databases; 70/30 indica-dominant on two. In practice it behaves like an indica.
- Multiple seed versions. SeedFinder lists three different Pink Panties — from Apothecary Genetics, Purple Caper Seeds and an unknown breeder. A seed-grown "Pink Panties" may have nothing to do with the clone behind Sunset Sherbet.
Pink Panties Terpene Profile
Leafly lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by myrcene and limonene. HashDash's data puts myrcene and caryophyllene in a dead heat at 28% each of the profile, then pinene (14%), limonene (13%), linalool (11%) and humulene (6%). That linalool share is a likely contributor to the floral, lavender-like notes Leafly users describe.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, the OG spice
Myrcene — earthy, heavy body
Pinene — pine, a little clarity
Limonene — citrus-berry brightness
Linalool — floral, lavender calm
Typical relative profile for Pink Panties, based on HashDash's terpene data (myrcene and caryophyllene tied) and Leafly's caryophyllene-led ranking. Batches vary by grower and cut.
- Caryophyllene: Peppery and spicy — the OG side's backbone, and the only common terpene known to bind CB2 receptors (a 2008 PNAS study called beta-caryophyllene a "dietary cannabinoid").
- Myrcene: Earthy and musky; it's the terpene most often linked with heavy, sleepy indicas.
- Limonene: The tart citrus and berry sweetness on top.
- Linalool: Floral and lavender-like — a good fit for the "rose, lavender, flowery" flavor tags on Leafly.
The berry-and-flowers combination is what Pink Panties passed down: Sunset Sherbet's sweet, fruity-floral nose comes partly from this side of the family.
Appearance
Pink Panties grows dense, medium-sized buds. HeyAbby describes thick, round nugs in dark olive green with dark orange hairs and a heavy trichome coat that makes them glisten. AllBud goes further: grape-shaped forest-green nugs with "vivid pink undertones," matching hairs, and trichomes that can look pink in the right light. Expect dark green, frosty, tight flowers; the pink tones vary by cut and how cool the grow ran late in flower.
Aroma and Flavor
Pink Panties is a floral strain first. Leafly's flavor tags are rose, lavender and flowery, and its description mentions buds that "reek of tart and tangy citrus alongside a strong floral bouquet." HeyAbby adds honey and fresh flowers mixed with citrus and berries. AllBud describes a "sweet fruity strawberry flavor with a lightly chemical exhale."
The smoke itself is smooth. Leafly calls it "citrus-forward, but lightly herbal on the exhale," and HeyAbby notes the exhale turns more pungent and chemical-like. Weedmaps users lean earthier — earthy, sweet and diesel are its top flavor reports. Put together: flowers and sweet berry on the nose, citrus on the inhale, and an earthy, herbal-chemical OG finish.
Recreational Effects
Pink Panties is a relaxer. The most-reported effects on Leafly are relaxed, sleepy and aroused; HashDash users report relaxed far more than anything else (24 reports), with euphoric and sleepy tied behind it.
- Relaxed: the headline effect — a body-led calm that Weedmaps describes as "creeping."
- Euphoric and happy: a mellow mood lift with a "happy, dreamy headspace" riding on top.
- Sleepy: the finish for most people, especially at higher doses.
- Tingly, body-heavy: AllBud describes heavy sedation that can turn into full couch-lock.
- Unfocused: the mind wanders — this isn't a get-things-done strain.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 10 minutes: a light head buzz and a slow wave of body relaxation.
- 20–60 minutes: the peak — calm, euphoric and dreamy, with the body getting heavier.
- 1–3 hours: a gradual slide toward sleep. Some reviewers on AllBud report a shorter, lighter ride from vape carts, so the form matters.
Because the body effect creeps rather than hits, wait a full 15 minutes before deciding you need more.

How Strong Is Pink Panties?
Pink Panties is moderately strong to strong, depending on the cut and the grower. The published numbers spread wide:
- HashDash: 16% THC — it calls Pink Panties a medium-THC strain and a possible entry point.
- Leafly: 19% THC and about 1% CBG — "higher THC than average."
- Weedmaps: 17–25%.
- AllBud: 20–24%.
- HeyAbby: 18–26%.
Modern THCA batches sold under the name test higher — one online seller lists a batch near 28% THCA — but remember that seed-line versions sold as "Pink Panties" may not be the original clone. The bigger point: Pink Panties isn't one of the record-setting potency strains. Its strength is in the body weight and the sleepy finish, not the head rush. Is Pink Panties a Cookies strain? It came out of the Cookie Fam circle and is the parent of Sunset Sherbet, but it's best known for its breeding value, not as a Cookies storefront strain.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Pink Panties batch against the 16–26% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Pink Panties vs Similar Strains
- vs Sunset Sherbet: its child (Pink Panties × GSC). Sunset Sherbet is creamier and doughier from the Cookies side; Pink Panties is more floral and more sedating.
- vs Gelato: its grandchild. Gelato is more balanced and social, with sweet dessert flavor; Pink Panties is heavier and sleepier.
- vs OG Kush: the OG side. OG Kush is gassier and more pine-forward; Pink Panties trades some gas for flowers and berry.
- vs Pink Kush: a similar name and a similar sleepy indica feel, but a different OG-descended line with a sweeter vanilla-floral profile. Not related by name alone.
- vs Blackberry Kush: another berry-and-kush indica in the same evening lane; Weedmaps' alternate lineage even names a Burmese Blackberry Kush parent.
- vs Straw Gua Mintz: the closest flavor match we stock — sweet strawberry and guava over a cool Kush Mints exhale. It runs lighter and more daytime than Pink Panties, so for real wind-down weight, Mule Fuel is the better pick.
Who Pink Panties Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: evening smokers, people who want to unwind or get to sleep, and fans of floral, berry-sweet flavors — plus anyone curious about the roots of the Sherbet and Gelato families.
Poor fit: daytime use, focus work, or anyone who needs to stay sharp. AllBud warns it can leave you couch-locked and "totally unfocused." For a sweet berry profile you can use earlier in the day, Strawberry 2.1 is the lighter option on our shelf.
How to Use Pink Panties THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the floral and berry notes. Around 350–370°F keeps the flowers and citrus; 385–405°F brings out the earthy OG weight and the sleepy body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15 minutes — the body effect creeps. Regular users usually find two or three hits gets the full relaxing arc. Use it an hour or two before bed, not right before you need to be up and moving. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and HashDash, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Stress: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 26% of reviewers).
- Anxiety: about 25% of Leafly reviewers report it helps.
- Sleep: about 21% of Leafly reviewers cite insomnia; it's also HashDash's top-reported symptom.
- Aches and pain: HashDash users report pain relief about as often as sleep, consistent with its heavy body effect.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly and HashDash.
- Headache — Leafly's third most-reported negative.
- Couch-lock and fogginess — at higher doses, the body weight can make you immovable and unfocused.
Is Pink Panties good for sleep? For most people, yes — sleepy is one of its top three effects. Don't drive or operate anything after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Pink Panties Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Ask where the genetics came from. The original is a clone-only cut; seed lines from Apothecary Genetics, Purple Caper Seeds and others share the name, not necessarily the plant. A good seller knows which one they have.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Flowers first. A real Pink Panties should smell floral and berry-sweet with citrus — not just generic earthy kush.
- Dense, frosty buds, dark green with orange hairs and resin inside the bud, not just on top.
- A proper cure — slightly sticky, never crumbly or smelling like hay.
Growing Pink Panties
Pink Panties is not a beginner plant. HeyAbby recommends it for experienced growers, indoors, in a tightly controlled tent or room, because it's susceptible to mold and mildew and doesn't handle swings in weather and lighting well.
- Flowering: HeyAbby gives 7–9 weeks in one place and 8–10 in another; Weedmaps says about 10–11 weeks for the original cut. Plan on the long side.
- Yield: modest. Sherbinski said it "wasn't that great of a yielder inside," and Weedmaps says the clone is "better known for breeding value than monster yields." No source we found gives a reliable grams-per-square-meter figure.
- Structure: compact but stretchy, medium indoor height, dense and resinous flowers (Weedmaps).
- Climate: keep humidity low late in flower — dense indica buds plus mildew sensitivity is a bad mix.
- Feeding: balanced, not heavy (HeyAbby).
- Seeds: the original is clone-only; seed versions exist from several breeders, so expect variation.
