Abacus Diesel™: The Strain That Started Diesel Hemp

Most cannabis brands sell flower. Diesel Hemp™ was created because of one strain. Abacus Diesel™ is the OG Kush and Purple Urkle cross that we hunted for years — through generation after generation of selective breeding — to find the gassiest, most authentically diesel terpene expression possible in a federally legal hemp cultivar. When we found it, it was so remarkable that we named our entire company after it. Once you smell it, you’ll understand why.

Diesel Hemp’s Abacus Diesel™ CBD Flower is available in glass stash jars (3.5g), black tin smalls (1g), and sealed black mylar bags (1oz). Proprietary, in-house bred, only sold by Diesel Hemp™.

The Origin Story

The Original Abacus™ cultivar was sourced from Humboldt County, California — the birthplace of premium cannabis genetics in the United States. A cross of OG Kush and Purple Urkle, it was originally a high-THC cannabis plant that was then crossed with hemp strains over multiple generations to bring the THC down to legal compliance while preserving the exceptional terpene profile.

Most attempts to create gas-forward hemp flower result in something that smells vaguely like cannabis at best. Our process was different: years of in-house phenotype hunting within the Abacus lineage, selecting only the plants that maintained the deepest, most authentic OG diesel character through each generation of hemp breeding. The result — Abacus Diesel™ — is so authentically gassy that people regularly refuse to believe it’s hemp until they see the lab results. That response is what the brand was built on.

Abacus Diesel™ Genetics and Lineage

Abacus Diesel™ is descended from OG Kush and Purple Urkle, bred down to hemp compliance through years of selective in-house breeding.

OG Kush — The West Coast cornerstone. OG Kush is one of the most influential cannabis genetics in American cannabis history, developed in the early 1990s in Florida and popularized in California. Its exact lineage is debated, but its character is unmistakable: complex fuel, lemon, pine, and earthy notes layered together in a way that’s been imitated thousands of times and rarely equaled. OG Kush contributes the foundational diesel and gas terpene character of Abacus Diesel™.

Purple Urkle — A classic California indica believed to be descended from Mendocino Purps. Known for its grape and berry aroma, deep purple coloration, and deeply relaxing body effects. Purple Urkle tempers the sharp OG gas with a subtle fruitiness and contributes the indica body character and purple hue that appears in Abacus Diesel™ under cooler growing conditions.

The combination — OG Kush gas and depth, Purple Urkle indica character and fruit notes, bred through multiple hemp generations to legal compliance — produces a CBD flower that no other brand has been able to replicate. The Abacus Diesel™ genetics are the starting point for nearly every other cultivar in the Diesel Hemp lineup.

Abacus Diesel™ Appearance

Abacus Diesel™ produces medium to smaller-sized buds with a dense, compact structure. The coloration is deep green with purple patches that develop more prominently under cooler growing conditions — a visual echo of the Purple Urkle genetics. The buds are darker than most CBD hemp flowers, with a resin coverage that reflects the OG Kush heritage. This doesn’t look like commodity hemp flower. It looks like the real thing.

Abacus Diesel™ Flavor and Aroma

The Aroma

Diesel. Real, authentic, pungent diesel fuel — the kind you recognize from Sour Diesel or OG Kush dispensary flower, not from a hemp product that gestures toward gassiness. The OG Kush genetics deliver the earthy, fuel-forward, skunky baseline. Hints of citrus and lemon add brightness. Purple Urkle contributes a faint fruity depth that prevents the profile from being purely one-dimensional gas. The overall impression is a classic West Coast OG cannabis aroma in completely legal hemp form.

The Flavor

The smoke is smooth despite the pungency. Gassy and earthy on the inhale, with the OG lemon-citrus coming through mid-draw. The Purple Urkle side adds a subtle sweetness on the exhale. Clean, genuine, and satisfying for anyone who knows and loves OG genetics. This does not taste like hemp.

Abacus Diesel™ Terpene Profile

Caryophyllene — Dominant and characteristic of OG Kush lineage. Spicy, peppery, and funky; responsible for the depth of the gas aroma and directly associated with CB2 receptor interaction, physical ease, and anti-inflammatory effects through the endocannabinoid system.

Myrcene — Earthy and musky; from both the OG Kush and Purple Urkle genetics, contributing the grounding, relaxing body component and the indica-leaning calming effects.

Limonene — Bright and citrusy; the lemon-citrus accent that cuts through the diesel depth and contributes to the uplifting, mood-elevating quality of the CBD experience.

Pinene — Fresh pine notes; from the OG Kush heritage, adding sharpness to the aromatic profile and associated with mental alertness that counterbalances the indica body component.

Abacus Diesel™ CBD Effects and Experience

Abacus Diesel™ is a calming, mood-elevating CBD flower that works for daytime or evening use. The OG Kush and Purple Urkle genetics produce a relaxing body component without the heavy sedation of pure indicas — physical tension releases, mood lifts, and the mind stays functional.

Most users report: calm alertness, muscle and body ease, improved mood, and a grounded sense of wellbeing that makes Abacus Diesel™ useful across many contexts — after work stress relief, physical recovery, or simply enjoying a quality smoke without impairment. The terpene profile is so authentically cannabis that the experience is genuinely satisfying in a way that most CBD flowers aren’t.

Total cannabinoids test at 20–21%+ depending on the batch, making Abacus Diesel™ among the most cannabinoid-dense CBD flowers on the market.

Abacus Diesel™ vs. Other Gas CBD Flowers

Abacus Diesel™ is the source. Every other gassy hemp cultivar in existence traces back to either Abacus Diesel™ genetics or attempts to replicate what Diesel Hemp built. The difference between buying Abacus Diesel™ from the originator and buying a gas-adjacent CBD flower from another brand: authenticity, phenotype quality, and years of selective breeding versus a generation or two of refinement. Other brands have licensed Abacus Diesel genetics or created similar crosses. None of them are the original.

Within the Diesel Hemp lineup, Abacus Diesel™ is the gas baseline. Inzane Abacus™ (Inzane in the Membrane × Abacus Diesel™) pushes the pungency further for the most intense gas experience in the collection. SpecDiesel™ (Spec7™ × Abacus Diesel™) adds blue cheese complexity to the gas. Lemon Diesel™ (Abacus Diesel™ × Super Lemon Haze) brings citrus brightness to the fuel. Abacus Diesel™ is where all of those start.

Is Abacus Diesel™ Legal?

Yes. Hemp-derived CBD flower containing less than 0.3% delta-9 THC — federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. All Diesel Hemp products are third-party lab tested and compliant. Abacus Diesel™ was developed specifically to meet this legal threshold while preserving the full terpene expression of its OG Kush and Purple Urkle lineage.

Will Abacus Diesel™ Show Up on a Drug Test?

Low risk, but not zero. As a full-spectrum CBD product, Abacus Diesel™ contains trace amounts of THC. For most occasional users this is not a practical concern. Heavy daily use can cause trace accumulation. Check your employer’s policy if drug testing applies.

How to Store Abacus Diesel™ CBD Flower

Available in three packaging options: 1g black tin in mylar bag, 3.5g glass stash jar, and 1oz sealed black mylar bag. The glass stash jar is the ideal long-term storage option — airtight, UV-resistant, and maintains the terpene profile better than any other format. Keep in a cool, dark location at 58–62% relative humidity. The diesel terpene profile degrades with light, heat, and oxygen.
