Dosilato Strain

Dosilato Strain: Do-Si-Dos Meets Gelato #41

The Dosilato strain is exactly what the name says: Do-Si-Dos crossed with Gelato #41, two of the heaviest hitters in the Cookies family. Most strain databases file it under Dolato, with Dosilato, Do-Si-Lato and Dosi-Lato listed as aliases. It smells like black pepper and lavender over sweet cream, it leans hard indica, and it is built for the evening — relaxed, tingly and, at a big enough dose, sleepy. It sits in the dessert-and-gas corner of our THCA flower collection.

It's also a strain with a messy paper trail. Three different breeders get the credit depending on which database you read, potency listings run from 20% to 30%, and flowering estimates range from about 60 days to 14 weeks. Below: what's actually documented, where the sources disagree, how the high unfolds, how to use it, how to grow it and how to judge a bag.

A 360° look at Dosilato's frosty buds.

Quick Facts

In short: Do-Si-Dos × Gelato #41, better known in databases as Dolato — peppery, lavender-sweet and creamy on the nose, with a calm, body-heavy high that turns sleepy as the dose goes up.

Dosilato Strain Genetics & Lineage

  • Type: Indica-dominant. Leafly lists it as an indica, SeedFinder as more than 90% indica, GrowDiaries as 70/30 indica, and Weedmaps as an indica-dominant hybrid.
  • Ancestry: Do-Si-Dos × Gelato #41. Leafly, SeedFinder, Weedmaps and GrowDiaries all name the #41 cut; some newer strain guides just say "Gelato."
  • Breeder: Disputed. SeedFinder credits In House Genetics; Weedmaps credits Cookie Family; GrowDiaries lists Archive Seed Bank as the creator and also shows versions from In House Genetics, Premium Cultivars, Crop King Seeds and Homegrown Cannabis Co. Leafly names no breeder.
  • THC: Leafly lists 20%; Weedmaps 23–26%; GrowDiaries 26%; SeedFinder 25–30%.
  • CBD and minors: CBD is low — 0–1% per SeedFinder, 0.25% per GrowDiaries. Leafly lists about 1% CBG.
  • Aliases: Dolato, Do-Si-Lato, Dosi-Lato and Dolato 41. "Dosalito" is a common misspelling.
  • Offspring: Leafly lists Waffle Cone and Capitol Chillz as Dolato crosses.

The two parents

Do-Si-Dos is Archive Seed Bank's cross of OG Kush Breath (a Girl Scout Cookies phenotype) and Face Off OG — dense, resinous, floral-and-gas, and heavy in the body. Gelato #41, also sold as Bacio Gelato, is one plant selected from the original Gelato seed run, Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, and the gassiest of the original Gelato selections. Both sides trace back to GSC, so Dosilato is Cookies genetics on top of Cookies genetics — which explains the dense structure, the frost and the sedating finish.

Dosilato vs Dolato: same strain?

Yes, as far as the databases are concerned. Leafly's Dolato page lists Dosilato, Do-Si-Lato and Dosi-Lato as aliases; SeedFinder lists Dosilato under In House Genetics' Dolato; Weedmaps and GrowDiaries do the same. The name is a straight portmanteau of the parents. What isn't the same is every jar: with several seed versions in circulation, two batches labeled Dosilato can come from different breeders and lean differently.

Dosilato Terpene Profile

Leafly lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and linalool. One Illinois batch reviewed by Illinois News Joint — Interstate 420's Dosilato — tested 0.97% total terpenes, led by limonene, beta-caryophyllene, alpha-humulene and linalool. Caryophyllene is the interesting one: a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Caryophyllene — pepper, spice, the Cookies-OG backbone

Limonene — sweet citrus-cream lift

Linalool — lavender, calm, the sleepy finish

Humulene — woody, earthy depth

Typical relative profile for Dosilato — caryophyllene-led per Leafly. Some batches, like the Interstate 420 cut, test limonene first.

  • Caryophyllene: The black-pepper and spice note, inherited from both Cookies-family parents, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
  • Limonene: The sweet, citrusy lift on top of the cream — the Gelato side showing through.
  • Linalool: The lavender. It's why Leafly's top flavor tag is lavender and why reviewers keep describing lilac and floral notes.
  • Humulene: Woody and earthy; it rounds out the tobacco-and-pine finish.

The "cream" and "cookie dough" notes aren't a single terpene — they're the Gelato and GSC chemistry working together, and they're louder in a well-cured jar.

Appearance

Dosilato buds are dense and chunky, with a color range that runs from light to deep green through red-wine purple — Leafly calls out the wide range of colors and heavy trichome coverage, and SeedFinder describes deep greens that push toward black and purple. Bright, fire-orange pistils thread through a thick coat of frost. The Interstate 420 batch Illinois News Joint reviewed was more modest: rounded, popcorn-sized olive-green buds, spongy to the squeeze and sticky in the center. Cooler night temperatures late in flower bring out more purple.

Aroma and Flavor

Open a jar and the first thing you get is pepper and spice, then something floral and sweet behind it. Leafly's top flavor tags are lavender, tobacco and tar, with a fruity, earthy scent and a sweet lavender taste. Weedmaps users lean piney: pine (39%), spicy/herbal (30%) and sweet (30%), with a musky, sweet aroma. The most detailed description comes from the Illinois review: black pepper, wet slate and diesel sitting over uncooked cookie dough, heavy whipping cream and candied lilac. On the smoke, pepper and diesel lead; cookie dough and lilac come through on the exhale, and the creamy cookie-dough note lingers for minutes. SeedFinder sums it up as sweet, fruity and creamy with earthy notes and a hint of lavender.

Recreational Effects

Dosilato is an evening strain. On Leafly, with more than 150 ratings averaging 4.6 stars, the top effects are:

  • Relaxed: the headline effect — a calm, stress-free body.
  • Tingly: a warm, full-body buzz, often starting around the head and brow.
  • Sleepy: the finish, especially at higher doses.

GrowDiaries users add uplifted and euphoric to the list, and describe the initial lift giving way quickly to sedation — "euphoric and sleepy at once." SeedFinder describes the same arc: initial euphoria and mental clarity that shift into deep body relaxation. The Illinois reviewer reported heavy headband and brow pressure almost immediately, then serenity, all-over muscle relaxation, a floating feeling and the munchies at the end. Weedmaps users are a little gentler, describing relaxation without heavy sedation — a strain for a movie, a game or a book.

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First 5 minutes: head and brow pressure, a quick mood lift.
  • 15–45 minutes: the peak — calm, tingly, heavy in the body, with a happy headspace.
  • 1–3 hours: a slow slide into the couch. Bigger doses end in sleep.

Because the body effects build after the head change, wait a full 15 minutes before deciding you need more.

How Strong Is Dosilato?

Strong. With Do-Si-Dos and Gelato #41 as parents, a well-grown cut lands in the mid-20s — but the listings vary:

  • Leafly: 20% THC, about 1% CBG — which it still calls higher than average.
  • Weedmaps: 23–26%.
  • GrowDiaries: 26% THC, 0.25% CBD.
  • SeedFinder: 25–30% ("very high").
  • One real batch: Interstate 420's Dosilato in Illinois tested 22.65% THCA, 0.58% delta-9 THC and 23.94% total cannabinoids.

The spread is mostly about breeder versions and growers, not the name. Expect a potent, heavy indica and treat anything above 30% without paperwork as marketing.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Dosilato against the 20–30% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Dosilato vs Similar Strains

  • vs Do-Si-Dos: the parent that brings the floral gas, the density and the body weight. Dosilato adds Gelato's cream and sweetness.
  • vs Gelato #41: the gassier, more balanced parent — more euphoric up top. Dosilato is heavier and more sedating.
  • vs Gelato 33 and Gelato: sweeter, more balanced hybrids from the same seed run. Dosilato is the indica-leaning, after-dark version.
  • vs Ice Cream Cake: another Gelato-family dessert indica (Wedding Cake × Gelato #33) — creamier and more vanilla, just as sleepy.
  • vs Blueberry Pancakes: not a Cookies line — it's Slurricane × Purple Panty Dropper — but it's the same indica-dominant dessert lane, with caryophyllene and linalool on the terpene sheet and a sweet, vanilla-batter nose. It's our closest match on the shelf.

Who Dosilato Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: evening and nighttime use, winding down after work, anyone who likes Cookies-family flavor and a heavy body, and fans of Do-Si-Dos or Gelato who want something sleepier.

Poor fit: daytime productivity, beginners at a full dose, or anyone who wants a racy, energetic high. For a gassier, earthier indica-leaning option on our shelf, Mule Fuel (GMO Cookies × Lurch) starts from $65.

How to Use Dosilato THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the lavender and cream. Around 350–380°F keeps the floral sweetness; 390–410°F brings out the pepper and the heavier body.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15 minutes — the body effects build after the head change. Regular users usually find two or three hits delivers the full arc, and more than that is a sleep dose. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers report, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Anxiety: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 36% of reviewers). The Illinois reviewer also reported reduced anxiety.
  • Stress: about 30% of Leafly reviewers.
  • Pain: about 27% on Leafly; GrowDiaries users mention cramps, muscle spasms and chronic pain.
  • Sleep: GrowDiaries lists insomnia, consistent with the sleepy finish.
  • Appetite: the Illinois reviewer reported the munchies at the end of each session.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly and GrowDiaries.
  • Dizziness — the third most-reported negative on both.
  • Couch-lock and drowsiness — likely at higher doses. Plan accordingly.
  • Head pressure — the heavy brow and headband feeling some reviewers describe can be intense for new users.

Is Dosilato good for sleep? For most people, yes — it's one of the sleepier Cookies-family crosses. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Dosilato Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • Check the lineage. "Do-Si-Dos × Gelato #41" or "Dolato" on the label is a good sign. A Dosilato with no lineage could be any cut.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Pepper and sweet cream. A real Dosilato smells peppery and floral with cream behind it. All earth and no sweetness suggests a weak cure or a different strain.
  • Density and frost. Tight, heavy buds with trichomes all the way through — purple is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • A proper cure. Hay or grass smell means it was rushed, and the lavender is the first thing to go.

Growing Dosilato

Dosilato is a compact, sturdy, high-yielding indica, but GrowDiaries and Weedmaps both call it somewhat challenging. What the sources report:

  • Flowering: sources disagree. SeedFinder lists about 60 days in its basic info, 9–10 weeks in its description and 10–14 weeks in its data table; Weedmaps says about 10 weeks; GrowDiaries just says longer than usual. Plan for 9–10 weeks or more.
  • Yield: very high per SeedFinder — more than 600 g/m² indoors and more than 1,000 g per plant outdoors.
  • Height and shape: medium, compact and sturdy, with moderate stretch after the flip. SeedFinder recommends a SCROG.
  • Outdoors: harvest around early to mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere, though Weedmaps says it does best indoors.
  • Watch for: a pungent smell in flower (SeedFinder recommends carbon filters) and dense colas that need good ventilation to avoid mold.
  • Color: cooler nights late in flower bring out the purple.
  • Seeds: several versions exist — In House Genetics, Archive Seed Bank, The KushBrothers Seeds, Premium Cultivars, Crop King and Homegrown Cannabis Co. per SeedFinder and GrowDiaries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dosilato indica or sativa?

Dosilato is indica-dominant. Leafly lists it as an indica, SeedFinder as more than 90% indica, GrowDiaries as 70/30 indica and Weedmaps as an indica-dominant hybrid. Its effects — relaxed, tingly, sleepy — match.

What is Dosilato a cross of?

Do-Si-Dos × Gelato #41. Do-Si-Dos is Archive Seed Bank's OG Kush Breath × Face Off OG; Gelato #41 is a Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC selection. Some guides just say Gelato, but the major databases name the #41 cut.

Is Dosilato the same as Dolato?

Yes. Leafly, SeedFinder, Weedmaps and GrowDiaries all list Dosilato as an alias of Dolato, along with Do-Si-Lato, Dosi-Lato and Dolato 41.

Who bred Dosilato?

It's disputed. SeedFinder credits In House Genetics, Weedmaps credits Cookie Family, and GrowDiaries lists Archive Seed Bank. Several seed versions are sold, and Leafly names no breeder.

How strong is Dosilato?

Leafly lists 20% THC, Weedmaps 23–26%, GrowDiaries 26% and SeedFinder 25–30%. One Illinois batch tested 22.65% THCA. Expect a potent, heavy indica and check the COA.

What are the effects of Dosilato?

Leafly's top effects are relaxed, tingly and sleepy. Growers and reviewers describe a quick lift and head pressure that settles into deep body relaxation, often with the munchies, then sleep at higher doses.

What does Dosilato taste like?

Pepper and spice first, then lavender, sweet cream and cookie dough. Leafly's flavor tags are lavender, tobacco and tar; Weedmaps users report pine, spicy/herbal and sweet. One Illinois reviewer tasted pepper and diesel with a lingering cookie-dough exhale.

What terpenes are in Dosilato?

Leafly lists caryophyllene as dominant, then limonene and linalool. An Illinois batch tested 0.97% total terpenes led by limonene, caryophyllene, humulene and linalool.

Is Dosilato good for sleep?

For most people, yes. Its top Leafly effects include sleepy, and GrowDiaries users describe the early lift giving way quickly to sedation. Smaller doses are relaxing without knocking you out.

Is Dosilato good for anxiety?

About 36% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety — its most-cited use. Any THC strain can cause anxiety at high doses, so start small.

Is Dosilato good for beginners?

It's potent and heavy, so go slow: one small puff, then wait 15 minutes. It's calming rather than racy, which suits some new users, but a full dose is a lot.

How long does Dosilato take to flower?

Plan for 9–10 weeks or more. SeedFinder lists anywhere from about 60 days to 10–14 weeks; Weedmaps says about 10 weeks. It yields heavily and suits a SCROG.

Where can I buy Dosilato THCA flower online?

Dosilato isn't in the Diesel Hemp shop right now. The closest match is Blueberry Pancakes THCA Flower — an indica-dominant dessert strain with caryophyllene and linalool and a relaxed evening finish, from $24. For a gassier indica-leaning option, try Mule Fuel, from $65. Both are third-party lab tested, with free shipping over $75.
