Gelatti Strain: Gelato Meets Biscotti
The Gelatti strain is a hybrid from Cookies that crosses Gelato with Biscotti — two dessert strains, one of them already gassy. Cookies' own description, quoted by The Bluntness, calls the aroma "gassy OG and strong menthol with a slight gelato finish." The high is balanced: an upbeat, creative lift that settles into a relaxed body without flattening you. It's one of the more distinctive profiles in the Gelato family — and the dessert-and-gas lane it sits in is well stocked in our THCA flower collection.
It's also hard to pin down. The original cut stayed inside the Cookies library, Cookies appears to have pulled it from its lineup, and seed versions from other breeders aren't the same plant. Below: the lineage and where sources disagree, the terpenes, how the high unfolds, potency, how to use it, how to grow it and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Gelatti's frosty buds.

Which Gelato, and which Biscotti?
Most sources just say "Gelato." Terpene lab Abstrax Tech is more specific: Bacio Gelato — the #41 cut covered on our Gelato 41 page. That's plausible given how gassy Gelatti is, but Cookies hasn't published the cut, so treat it as Abstrax's claim. Gelato itself is Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC; its best-known sister cut is Gelato 33.
Biscotti is also a Cookies strain. SeedFinder lists it (with a "probably") as Gelato #25 × South Florida OG; our Biscotti page covers the three-way Gelato #25 × GSC × South Florida OG version other sources give. Either way, the math is the same: Gelatti is Gelato on both sides, with South Florida OG bringing the gas and musk.
What does "Gelatti" mean?
It's a blend of the parents' names — Gelato and Biscotti. It isn't an Italian word or a separate ice-cream reference.
Clone-only, and maybe retired
SeedFinder notes the original Cookies Gelatti was never released as seeds or clones. The Bluntness reported in January 2023 that Cookies appeared to have removed it from its lineup. Seeds sold as "Gelatti" by other breeders (SeedFinder names SinCity and Bulk Seeds) are their own versions and may differ considerably from the original.
Gelatti Terpene Profile
Two good sources, two different answers. Leafly, using data from its certified labs, lists caryophyllene first, then limonene and linalool. Abstrax Tech's two-dimensional GC analysis lists d-limonene, alpha-pinene and beta-myrcene as dominant. Different batches and labs, same overall picture: citrus brightness, a peppery base, and a sharp, almost camphor-like edge that reads as menthol.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper and spice, the cookie base
Limonene — citrus brightness, mood lift
Pinene — sharp, herbal, the menthol-like edge
Myrcene — earthy, musky, the relaxed body
Linalool — soft floral
Blended relative profile for Gelatti — caryophyllene-led per Leafly, limonene/alpha-pinene-led per Abstrax lab data. Varies by batch.
- Caryophyllene: the peppery, spicy backbone from the Cookies side — Leafly's top flavor tags for Gelatti include pepper.
- Limonene: the bright citrus and sweet-sour berry top notes, and a likely driver of the upbeat start.
- Alpha-pinene: herbal, woody and slightly camphorous — Abstrax ties it to the cooling, minty character.
- Myrcene: earthy and musky; part of the OG musk and the relaxed floor.
- Linalool: a soft floral note in the background.
The gas isn't a terpene at all. Abstrax attributes the diesel-like note to prenylated cannasulfur compounds (PCSCs), and scores Gelatti at a 78% "Gas Factor" and 86% "Loud Factor" — gassy, but notably less so than Bacio Gelato's 103%.
Appearance
Gelatti grows dense, chunky buds. AllBud describes grape-shaped nugs in bright neon green with thin orange hairs, light purple undertones and a coat of trichomes; SeedFinder describes a pine-tree shape with green, purple and orange tones. Leafly highlights large, oily trichomes — the kind that make a bud look wet under light and press well for rosin.
Aroma and Flavor
This is the part people remember. Cookies describes the nose as "gassy OG and strong menthol with a slight gelato finish," and the flavor as "musky OG menthol with a sweet exhale." AllBud's reviewers get sweet and sour berries with a sharp menthol exhale that builds the more you smoke, over diesel, earth and spice. Leafly's flavor tags are apple, pepper and flowery, and one reviewer says you can taste "biscotti and gelato." Abstrax sums it up as "delicately gassy and sweet." Expect gas and mint on the inhale, cookie and sweet cream on the way out.
Recreational Effects
Gelatti sits in the middle. On Leafly, where it has 109 ratings averaging 4.5 stars, the top effects are:
- Relaxed: the most-reported effect — a calm body that doesn't usually tip into couch-lock.
- Creative: ideas come easily during the early peak.
- Giggly: a light, social mood lift.
AllBud adds euphoria, focus, happiness, an uplifting feel and serious hunger, describing a high that "arrives quickly" with mental clarity. Weedmaps' users, per The Bluntness, lean energetic, aroused and uplifted. Several AllBud reviewers note it isn't heavily sedating; one Leafly reviewer found it more tiring over time as tolerance built. The common thread: head first, body second, and dose decides how far it goes.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–15 minutes: a euphoric, clear-headed lift. One AllBud reviewer felt it build over about 15 minutes, so wait before taking more.
- 15–60 minutes: the peak — happy, creative and social, with the body loosening up and the munchies arriving.
- 1–3 hours: a smooth fade into relaxation; heavier at higher doses.

How Strong Is Gelatti?
Above average, though not a record-setter on paper:
- Leafly: 19% THC and about 1% CBG — "higher THC than average."
- AllBud: 20–23% THC.
- SeedFinder: "often around 20% THC or more."
Is Gelatti a good strain? By user ratings, yes — 4.5 stars from 109 ratings on Leafly and 4.6 on AllBud, with taste and smell the most-praised traits. It isn't the strongest strain out there; it's a flavor-and-balance strain. If raw potency matters to you, read the lab report rather than the name.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Gelatti batch against the 19–23% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Gelatti vs Similar Strains
- vs Gelato: the creamier, sweeter parent. Gelatti adds gas, menthol and OG musk.
- vs Biscotti: the gassier, cookie-forward, more sedating parent. Gelatti is brighter and more balanced.
- vs Gelato 41: the Bacio cut Abstrax names as Gelatti's Gelato parent — heavier and gassier.
- vs Gelato 33: the sweeter, creamier Larry Bird cut, with no menthol.
- vs Apples and Bananas: a Gelatti descendant (Leafly lists it as offspring) — fruitier and louder, with apple and banana candy over the gas.
- vs Gastro Pop: Apples and Bananas × Grape Gas, making it a Gelatti grandchild — grape soda and fruit over pepper and gas.
- vs Kush Mintz: another cool, minty, gassy modern hybrid — earthier and heavier.
- vs Lemon Cherry Gelato: our closest match in stock. Same Gelato family and caryophyllene-led creamy gas, with tart lemon and cherry in place of menthol, and a similar happy-then-relaxed arc.
Who Gelatti Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: Gelato fans who want more gas; flavor chasers; late-afternoon and evening social sessions; anyone who wants a happy, creative high with a relaxed body but not couch-lock.
Poor fit: people who dislike menthol or diesel notes; anyone who wants a knockout sleep strain. For something heavier on our shelf, Super Boof finishes more relaxed.
How to Use Gelatti THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: around 350–380°F keeps the menthol, citrus and sweet cream; 390–410°F brings out the pepper and the heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15 minutes — reviewers note it can build slowly. Regular users usually find two or three hits gives the full lift-then-relax arc. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety: the most-cited reason on Leafly (23% of reviewers) — though "anxious" is also one of its listed negatives, so dose matters.
- Low mood: 20% of Leafly reviewers.
- Stress: 19% of Leafly reviewers.
- Appetite, fatigue and nausea: AllBud lists these, and reviewers repeatedly mention strong hunger.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth — the usual.
- Headache — one of Leafly's top negatives.
- Anxiety — also listed on Leafly; more likely if you take too much too fast.
- Dry or red eyes and dizziness — noted by The Bluntness, mostly for inexperienced users.
Is Gelatti good for sleep? Not its strength. At higher evening doses the relaxed body helps some people wind down, but most reviewers describe it as balanced rather than sleepy. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Gelatti Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- The menthol test. Real Gelatti smells like gas and mint with a sweet finish. If it only smells sweet, or only earthy, be skeptical.
- Ask about the cut. The original was Cookies-only and never released as seeds or clones. Flower from seed-grown "Gelatti" may be a different plant.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Frost and density: dense, chunky buds with large, oily-looking trichomes. Airy or dull flower is a poor grow.
- Color: bright green with orange hairs and purple undertones. Brown, dry or crumbly flower is old.
Growing Gelatti
The original Gelatti is a Cookies cut that never went public, and no breeder flowering schedule is published. SeedFinder only says its heritage suggests an average flowering time. What's below comes from dispensary grow guides and the parents' behavior.
- Flowering: about 8–10 weeks indoors; outdoors, harvest mid-to-late October in the Northern Hemisphere.
- Structure: medium height, compact and bushy, with short internodes — topping, LST and a screen help.
- Yield: roughly 400–500 g/m² indoors and about 500 g per plant outdoors.
- Climate: warm and dry, with humidity under 50% in bloom; dense buds need airflow.
- Color: cooler nights in the last two weeks can bring out the purple.
- Seeds: SinCity and Bulk Seeds sell their own Gelatti — not the original Cookies cut.
