Han Solo Burger Strain: The GMO Cross That Started the Burger Line
The Han Solo Burger strain is GMO (better known as Garlic Cookies) crossed with Larry OG, bred by Skunk House Genetics — the Michigan breeder Leafly calls the "home of the Burger genetics." It smells like garlic, onion and diesel with a lemon-pine edge, it usually tests in the mid-to-high 20s for THC, and it lands as a calming, heavy-bodied high that most people save for the evening. In our THCA flower collection it belongs in the savory, gassy corner, next to strains like Garlic Breath and Mule Fuel.
It's also the root of a whole family. Han Solo Burger is a parent of Donny Burger and Cherry Burger, and its name runs through Skunk House's catalog — Double Solo Burger, Larry Burger, Double Burger and more. Below: what's documented about its genetics, the naming question, the terpenes, how the high unfolds, what the potency numbers mean, how to use it, how to grow it and how to judge a bag.

Han Solo Burger Strain Genetics & Lineage
- Type: Indica-leaning hybrid. AllBud lists 70% indica / 30% sativa, SeedFinder lists it as indica, and Leafly calls it a hybrid with "mostly calming" effects.
- Ancestry: GMO × Larry OG. GMO is Chem D × Girl Scout Cookies — the source of the garlic. Larry OG, per Leafly, is OG Kush × SFV OG, also sold as Lemon Larry — the source of the lemon and pine.
- Breeder: Skunk House Genetics, credited on Leafly and SeedFinder. SeedFinder's breeder page says founder Skunkmasterflex started growing medical cannabis in Michigan in 2005, later teamed up with RespectOG, and bills the house as "home of the original Burger and Modified strains."
- THC: AllBud 26–31%; Green Lightning (New Jersey) lists 26–35% on its menu; one New York medical product was posted at 22%; a Leafly reviewer posted a batch at 29.83% THC with 3.07% terpenes.
- CBD: Negligible. Reviewer-posted lab results show 0% CBD.
- Seeds: SeedFinder says Han Solo Burger was "never available as feminized seeds" — what's on shelves comes from clone cuts and regular-seed hunts.
Where the sources disagree
The lean. Every major database places Han Solo Burger on the indica side or calls it a balanced hybrid — except grower Winewood Organics, whose page lists "70% Sativa // 30% Indica." That's the mirror image of AllBud's 70/30 indica and doesn't match how anyone describes the high, so we treat it as an outlier.
The lineage. Everyone agrees on GMO × Larry OG, but SeedFinder marks the cross "probably" — Skunk House hasn't published a detailed breeding record. Some retail guides call the Larry OG side "Larry OG F7"; we couldn't confirm that from the breeder or a strain database.
Why is it called Han Solo Burger?
We found no breeder explanation on record. "Burger" is Skunk House's house name for its GMO-based line — a nod to that savory, garlic-and-onion nose. The "Han Solo" half has an obvious candidate: in the 2012 Adam Sandler comedy That's My Boy, Sandler's character Donny Berger names his son Han Solo Berger. Skunk House later crossed Han Solo Burger back to GMO and named the result Donny Burger — father and son, just like the film. It's a strong inference, not a confirmed story.
Han Solo, Solo Burger and the other Burgers
- Han Solo / HSB: common menu shorthand for the same GMO × Larry OG cross.
- Solo Burger: the name Ohio cultivator Galenas uses for its Han Solo Burger cut.
- Double Solo Burger, Grape Han Solo Burger: separate crosses built on Han Solo Burger — not the same strain.
- Han Solo Hash Plant: a different plant, one of the parents of Hashburger.
Han Solo Burger Terpene Profile
Han Solo Burger reads as a caryophyllene-forward strain: spicy, peppery and gassy, with myrcene and limonene close behind. Green Lightning's menu lists beta-myrcene, caryophyllene, humulene and limonene; retail strain guides put caryophyllene first. Leafly describes the profile as "savory, funky, and spicy" and lists its flavors as tobacco, pepper and ammonia. The Larry OG side is the citrus: Leafly lists Larry OG as myrcene-led with limonene and caryophyllene, and that lemon-pine top note is what separates Han Solo Burger from straight GMO.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, spice, the GMO bite
Myrcene — earthy, musky, the heavy body
Limonene — lemon peel from the Larry OG
Humulene — woody, herbal, dry
Typical relative profile for Han Solo Burger based on menu terpene listings — not a single lab standard. GMO-leaning cuts read more garlic and pepper; Larry-leaning cuts show more lemon and pine.
- Caryophyllene: The peppery, spicy backbone from the GMO side, and the only common terpene known to bind directly to CB2 receptors.
- Myrcene: Earthy and musky; it's the terpene most associated with heavy, relaxing strains, which fits Han Solo Burger's reputation.
- Limonene: The lemon peel on the finish, inherited from Larry OG (aka Lemon Larry).
- Humulene: Woody and herbal — part of why AllBud's reviewers describe it as woody and earthy rather than sweet.
The garlic and onion aren't terpenes. Savory "funk" in strains like GMO comes largely from volatile sulfur compounds, which is why two jars with similar terpene lists can smell very different. If a jar labeled Han Solo Burger smells sweet and fruity, it's probably not Han Solo Burger.
Appearance
Han Solo Burger buds are dense, chunky and indica-shaped, in deep green with frequent purple hues — Leafly mentions "green and purple hues alongside gigantic stinky trichomes." Green Lightning describes bright orange pistils and heavy trichome coverage; one Leafly reviewer noted "few short orange hairs" and a hint of lemon-green inside when the bud is broken. The resin is the point: Winewood Organics says its Han Solo Burger "makes amazing extracts," and it's a common wash strain for hash makers.
Aroma and Flavor
Open a jar and it's savory first — garlic, onion and earthy funk — then diesel. Winewood calls the smell "rancid and offensive," which in this corner of cannabis is a compliment. Grind it and the pepper and pine come forward, with a thin line of lemon peel underneath. The smoke is thick and heavy: savory garlic and gas on the inhale, pepper, tobacco and woody herbs on the exhale, and a faint citrus finish. AllBud's users list herbal, pine, spicy and woody flavors; Green Lightning adds a faint creamy note; one Leafly reviewer described a lingering, "slightly fruity, creamy taste." GMO-leaning cuts are the garlickiest; Larry-leaning cuts are brighter.
Recreational Effects
Han Solo Burger opens with a quick head change and a mood lift, then sinks into the body. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.6 rating from about 100 reviews, the top effects are:
- Relaxed: the headline effect — a calming, body-forward high.
- Sleepy: stronger with dose and later in the session.
- Tingly: a buzzing body feel that many reviewers mention.
AllBud's users add body high, calming and uplifting — the uplift is the first half hour, before the GMO weight takes over. A 2022 OK Gazette review summed it up as a "heavy 'indica'" with a "heady high," good for "winding down at day's end."
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a fast head change — mood lift, quieter thoughts.
- 30–60 minutes: the peak — heavy, relaxed limbs, tingly body, very little motivation to move.
- 2–4 hours: a slow taper. At higher doses it ends on the couch or in bed.
Retail strain guides put the inhaled window at roughly 2–4 hours; homemade edibles run much longer.

How Strong Is Han Solo Burger?
Strong. Han Solo Burger is a high-THC strain, though the numbers depend heavily on the grower and the cut:
- AllBud: 26–31% THC.
- Green Lightning (NJ menu): 26–35%.
- Retail strain guides: typically 20–28%, with standout cuts near 30%.
- Individual batches: 22% on a New York medical product; 29.83% THC and 35.01% total cannabinoids in a Leafly reviewer's posted results.
So the honest range is low 20s to about 30%, with menu outliers above. Terpene content matters as much as THC — the reviewer batch at 3.07% total terpenes is a genuinely loud jar, and loud jars tend to feel stronger than their number. AllBud and Winewood both recommend it for seasoned consumers only.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Han Solo Burger batch against the 20–31% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Han Solo Burger vs Similar Strains
- vs GMO: the garlic parent. GMO is funkier, slower to finish and more one-note; Han Solo Burger adds Larry OG's lemon, pine and denser OG structure.
- vs Donny Burger: its offspring — GMO × Han Solo Burger, bred back toward GMO. More garlic, cheese and fuel, and even heavier.
- vs Hashburger: a later Burger-line strain (Han Solo Hash Plant × Double Burger) and Leafly's 2025 Strain of the Year. Similar savory, umami funk.
- vs Mule Fuel: a half-sibling — GMO × Lurch instead of GMO × Larry OG. Same gassy, garlicky base and heavy body; it's the closest match on our shelf.
- vs Garlic Breath: another GMO cross with a similar savory nose.
- vs OG Kush: the grandparent on the Larry side — earthier, more lemon-pine, less garlic.
Who Han Solo Burger Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: experienced consumers who like savory, gassy flower; evenings, movies and winding down; people who want a heavy body high without starting the night fully sedated.
Poor fit: beginners, anyone who wants a sweet or fruity smoke, and daytime use when you need to get things done. Reddit has its skeptics too — one Maryland thread calls it "way overhyped" — so judge the batch, not the name.
How to Use Han Solo Burger THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the cleanest way to taste the lemon under the garlic. Around 350–380°F keeps the citrus and pine; 390–410°F brings out the pepper and the heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one small puff, then wait 15–30 minutes — this is a potent, heavy strain. Regular users usually find two or three hits gets the full arc. Use it in the evening, not before you need to be productive. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety and stress: the most-cited use — about 35% of Leafly reviewers mention anxiety; AllBud lists stress and PTSD.
- Pain and muscle tension: about 21% of Leafly reviewers, consistent with the heavy body effect.
- Low mood: about 17% of Leafly reviewers mention depression.
- Sleep and appetite: "sleepy" is a top-three effect, and GMO-line strains are widely reported to bring on the munchies.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — Leafly's most-reported negatives.
- Headache — also on Leafly's list, usually from overdoing it.
- Heavy sedation and couch-lock — at high doses, plan to stay put.
- Racing heart or dizziness — possible with any high-THC strain, especially at low tolerance.
Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Han Solo Burger Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- It should stink. Garlic, onion and gas you can smell through the bag. Sweet or fruity means a different strain or a tired cure.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 35%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Dense, frosty buds with trichomes inside the bud, not just on top — this is a resin strain.
- Purple hues are a bonus, not a requirement — they vary by cut and grow.
- A proper cure — hay or grass smell means it was rushed, and it kills the garlic.
Growing Han Solo Burger
Han Solo Burger is a resin-heavy plant with a sturdy, OG-style structure — AllBud's lone grow note describes it as sturdy. There's no breeder-published grow sheet, so treat the numbers below as grower estimates.
- Seeds: regular only — SeedFinder says it was never released as feminized. Most growers run clone cuts.
- Flowering: about 9–10 weeks (63–70 days) indoors per retail grow guides, with some phenotypes going longer.
- Yield: guides estimate 450–600 g/m² indoors.
- Phenotypes: expect a spread between garlic-diesel GMO-leaning plants and brighter garlic-citrus Larry-leaning plants.
- Hash: heavy resin makes it a popular choice for washing and extracts.
- Smell control: essential. This is one of the loudest plants you can grow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Han Solo Burger indica or sativa?
Han Solo Burger is an indica-leaning hybrid. AllBud lists it 70% indica / 30% sativa, SeedFinder calls it indica, and Leafly lists it as a hybrid with mostly calming effects. One grower lists it as 70% sativa, but that's an outlier.
What is Han Solo Burger a cross of?
GMO (also called Garlic Cookies) × Larry OG, bred by Skunk House Genetics. GMO brings the garlic, gas and potency; Larry OG brings lemon, pine and denser OG structure.
Who bred Han Solo Burger?
Skunk House Genetics, the Michigan breeder behind the Burger line, founded by Skunkmasterflex. Leafly and SeedFinder both credit Skunk House.
How strong is Han Solo Burger?
Very. AllBud lists 26–31% THC, most menus land in the low-to-high 20s, and individual batches have been posted near 30%. Start with one small puff.
What does Han Solo Burger taste like?
Savory garlic, onion and diesel on the inhale, then pepper, tobacco and woody herbs, with a faint lemon-pine finish from the Larry OG side.
What are the effects of Han Solo Burger?
Leafly's top effects are relaxed, sleepy and tingly. It opens with a quick mood lift, then settles into a heavy, calming body high.
Is Han Solo Burger good for sleep?
Many people use it at night — 'sleepy' is one of its top-reported effects, and it gets heavier as the dose goes up. It's an evening strain, not a daytime one.
How long does a Han Solo Burger high last?
Smoked or vaped, expect roughly 2–4 hours, peaking at 30–60 minutes. Edibles made from it can last much longer — start low and wait the full two hours before taking more.
Why is it called Han Solo Burger?
There's no breeder explanation on record. 'Burger' is Skunk House's name for its GMO-based line. The likely reference is the 2012 film That's My Boy, where Donny Berger's son is named Han Solo Berger — and Skunk House later bred Donny Burger from Han Solo Burger.
Is Han Solo the same as Han Solo Burger?
Usually yes — 'Han Solo,' 'HSB' and Ohio's 'Solo Burger' are shorthand for the same GMO × Larry OG cross. Double Solo Burger, Grape Han Solo Burger and Han Solo Hash Plant are different strains.
What strains are similar to Han Solo Burger?
GMO, Donny Burger, Hashburger, Mule Fuel and Garlic Breath — all savory, gassy, GMO-family strains with heavy body effects.
Is Han Solo Burger good for beginners?
Not really. It's potent, heavy and very pungent. If you try it, take one small puff and wait 15–30 minutes.
Where can I buy Han Solo Burger THCA flower online?
