Hashburger Strain

Hashburger Strain: The Savory Strain That Won 2025

The Hashburger strain — also written Hash Burger — is a cross of Han Solo Hash Plant and Double Burger, two plants from the GMO-based "Burger" line. It smells nothing like candy: think gas, onion, cheese, pepper and hash, the kind of funk Reddit growers call "super rank." It hits the head first with a wave of euphoria, then pulls the body down into heavy, sleepy relaxation. In early 2026, Leafly named it its 2025 Strain of the Year. It belongs with Donny Burger and Garlic Breath in the savory, gassy corner of our THCA flower collection.

Below: who actually bred it (the credits are tangled), how the Burger family tree fits together, why it beat Gush Mints and Sour Diesel for Strain of the Year, the terpene profile, how the high unfolds, how strong it really is, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a good bag.

A 360° look at Hashburger's frosty buds.

Quick Facts

In short: A GMO-line savory strain from the "House of the Burger" — Han Solo Hash Plant × Double Burger. It smells like gas, onion, cheese and hash, hits the head first with euphoria, then sinks into deep, sleepy body relaxation. Leafly named it 2025 Strain of the Year.

Hashburger Strain Genetics & Lineage

  • Type: Indica-leaning hybrid — about 60% indica / 40% sativa per Leafly and AllBud. MFNY and GreenState call it an indica; Kind Goods calls it a hybrid.
  • Ancestry: Han Solo Hash Plant × Double Burger. Leafly says it carries "notes from its GMO, Donny Burger, and Triangle Kush heritage."
  • Breeder: Leafly credits California Seed Bank's Respect and Mrs. Respect, working in a "now-defunct partnership" with Skunk House Genetics' Skunk Master Flex.
  • THC: Leafly lists 30% and says it often tests between 28% and 35% THCA/THC; AllBud averages 27%; Leafly's grow guide gives 20–30%.
  • CBD: Not listed by any major database — expect negligible.
  • Aliases: Hash Burger, HashBurger, HBr.
  • Offspring: Leafly lists Boof Burger and Boofzilla as Hashburger children.

The Burger family tree

Every Burger strain traces back to GMO (Garlic Cookies), the garlicky GSC × Chemdawg cross. MFNY says Skunk Master Flex "developed the Burger line from an offshoot of Garlic Cookies aka GMO." From there:

  • Han Solo Burger: GMO × Larry OG — the first Burger.
  • Donny Burger: GMO × Han Solo Burger — a GMO backcross and the line's breakout strain.
  • Double Burger: GMO × Donny Burger per Leafly — another GMO backcross, bred by Skunk House Genetics to push the line's savory funk and indica weight even further. Leafly lists it at 28% THC with diesel, skunk and pungent flavors.
  • Han Solo Hash Plant: Han Solo Burger × Black Triangle per Leafly — an indica-leaning hash plant listed at 25–30% THC, with an ammonia-forward flavor. GreenState lists Han Solo Burger, Black Triangle Kush, Larry OG and GMO Cookies among its ancestors.

Cross those two and you get Hashburger: GMO funk stacked on GMO funk, with Triangle Kush and OG Kush lines adding the stony body. GreenState's Strain of the Year write-up lists Chemdawg, Triangle Kush, OG Kush and G13 in its wider lineage.

Who bred Hashburger? The credit question

The sources agree on the people but credit them differently. Leafly names California Seed Bank's Respect and Mrs. Respect as the breeders, working with Skunk Master Flex. MFNY credits Skunk Master Flex alone. GreenState's 2024 review credits Skunkhouse Seeds, which it says was started in 2016 by Skunk Master Flex and the Respect family and is known as the "House of the Burger." All three point to the same circle — the Burger line is a team effort — but if a menu credits someone outside it, ask questions.

Why it was named Leafly's 2025 Strain of the Year

Per GreenState's coverage, Hashburger was one of Leafly's most-viewed strains in 2025 — around 9,000 page views a month — with a 4.7-star average rating. Its popularity and sheer uniqueness put it ahead of the other nominees: Gush Mints, Dulce de Uva, Sour Diesel and Blue Lobster. In a market full of candy and dessert strains, a savory, gassy hash strain winning says a lot about where tastes are heading. Leafly's strain page also reports a silver award at the 2024 California State Fair Cannabis Awards for high THCA content.

Hashburger Terpene Profile

Leafly's lab-tested data lists myrcene as Hashburger's most abundant terpene, followed by caryophyllene and limonene. Kind Goods and MFNY name the same three but lead with caryophyllene. Kind Goods makes the important point: these terpenes add "savory depth" but don't define the experience on their own — the onion-and-garlic funk comes from the GMO-heavy Double Burger side as a whole.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Myrcene — earthy, musky, the heavy body

Caryophyllene — black pepper, spice, gas

Limonene — a faint citrus edge

Typical relative profile for Hashburger — myrcene-led per Leafly; Kind Goods and MFNY lead with caryophyllene. Batches vary.

  • Myrcene: Earthy and musky — the base of the sleepy, heavy body high.
  • Caryophyllene: Black pepper and spice, and part of the gassy bite. It's the only common terpene known to bind directly to CB2 receptors.
  • Limonene: A small citrus lift — AllBud's reviewers pick up lemon and sour notes on some cuts.

Kind Goods sums up what sets Hashburger apart: it's "savory and pungent" rather than fruity or dessert-like — the opposite of the candy strains that dominated the last few years.

Appearance

Hashburger grows dense, chunky flowers. AllBud describes "dense, spade-shaped, forest green nugs" with amber undertones and chunky trichomes; GreenState's batch had spear-shaped nugs with rounded calyxes, bright green and dark purple buds and tan hairs throughout; MFNY calls them dense and "covered in frosty trichomes." The heavy resin is no accident — the Hash Plant side was bred for it, and MFNY says the cultivar shines "especially when consumed in hash form."

Aroma and Flavor

This is the whole point of the strain. Leafly's top flavor tags are ammonia, pepper and cheese, and its description adds earth, umami, onion and "pure cannabis funk." MFNY describes the aroma as "sirloin, gas, mushrooms, and a bit of funk"; Kind Goods calls it onion and umami with a hash-forward inhale and a slightly gassy finish; Reddit reviewers call it meaty and garlicky. GreenState's reviewer got citronella and OG-style gas, and herbal, skunky notes when vaped.

Not every cut is that savory. AllBud's flavor tags lean citrus, lemon, pine and woody, with a sweet, spicy, hash-like taste. Expect the gas and funk either way — and expect the smell to fill a room. AllBud reviewers warn the odor makes discreet use hard.

Recreational Effects

Hashburger is a heavy hitter that starts in the head. On Leafly, from 140 ratings averaging 4.7 out of 5, the top-reported effects are:

  • Sleepy: the headline effect — Leafly calls it "a popular choice for evening or nighttime use."
  • Relaxed: a deep body calm that GreenState's reviewer describes as "chill and mindless."
  • Euphoric: a strong head rush up front before the body takes over.
  • Happy and hungry: both common in AllBud's effect tags.

It's not purely a couch strain for everyone. One Leafly reviewer used it to go shopping, wash the car and cook dinner — effects vary with dose, tolerance and cut.

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First few minutes: an intense, euphoric head change and tingles at the back of the head.
  • 20–60 minutes: the tingle spreads into the muscles and joints; focus fades and the body gets heavy.
  • 1–3 hours: a slow slide toward the couch or bed. AllBud reviewers report lingering fog for about an hour after.

How Strong Is Hashburger? Is It the Strain That Gets You Most Stoned?

Hashburger is one of the stronger strains in circulation. The published numbers:

  • Leafly: 30% THC on its strain page, and "often testing between 28–35% THCa/THC."
  • AllBud: 27% on average.
  • Leafly grow guide: 20–30%.
  • Han Solo Hash Plant and Double Burger (parents): 27% and 28% on Leafly.

So what strain gets you the most stoned? No single strain holds that title — potency varies more by grower and batch than by name, and how "stoned" you feel depends on tolerance and terpenes too. But a well-grown Hashburger sits near the top of the range, and its myrcene-heavy profile makes it feel heavier than many strains at the same number. Experienced smokers love it; beginners should treat it with real caution.

What is the best hash strain? It's subjective, but Hashburger is a strong candidate — the Hash Plant side was bred for resin, and MFNY singles out its hash form. If you want concentrate rather than flower, our HBIC THCA Live Rosin is a solventless option.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Hashburger batch against the 27–35% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Hashburger vs Similar Strains

  • vs Donny Burger: the grandparent. Donny Burger is GMO funk with a giggly, aroused edge; Hashburger adds the Hash Plant's resin and a heavier, sleepier finish.
  • vs GMO: the root of the whole line. GMO is pure garlic and diesel; Hashburger is earthier and more hash-forward, with more body.
  • vs Garlic Breath: another savory, garlic-forward strain with GMO in its family tree. Same funk family, a different twist.
  • vs Gush Mints and Blue Lobster: fellow 2025 Strain of the Year nominees. Both are sweeter and more dessert-like — Hashburger won by going the other way.
  • vs Triangle Kush and OG Kush: kush ancestors that bring the stony body and the OG-style gas GreenState's reviewer noticed.
  • vs Permanent Marker: a modern indica-leaning hybrid with a loud, chemical, gassy nose and a heavy body finish. It's sweeter and less savory — no onion or cheese — but it's the closest match on our shelf for loud funk and an evening body high.

Who Hashburger Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: experienced smokers; fans of gas, garlic and savory "funk" strains; evening and bedtime use; hash and concentrate lovers.

Poor fit: beginners, anyone prone to THC anxiety, daytime use — and anyone who wants fruit or candy flavor. If you want something lighter and more balanced, the fruit-forward Super Boof is the friendlier option on our shelf.

How to Use Hashburger THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: a good way to taste the pepper and hash under the gas without the harshness. Around 350–370°F keeps the savory top notes; 390–410°F brings out the full heavy body.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one small puff, then wait 15 minutes — Hashburger often tests near 30% and lands hard. Regular users usually find two or three hits is plenty, ideally in the evening. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Anxiety: about 27% of Leafly reviewers — though "paranoid" is also among its top negatives, so dose matters.
  • Stress: about 19%.
  • Pain: about 17%; GreenState's reviewer reported softer joints and some pain relief.
  • Insomnia: listed by AllBud, and Leafly says many people use it for sleep issues.
  • Low mood and appetite loss: AllBud lists depression and appetite loss among its reported uses.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Headache — Leafly's top-reported negative.
  • Dry mouth and dry, red eyes — common, and GreenState's reviewer noted glassy eyes.
  • Paranoia — among Leafly's top negatives, especially at high doses or low tolerance.
  • Heavy sedation and fog — loss of focus is part of the experience; don't plan anything that needs it.
  • The smell — not a health risk, but a practical one: it's loud and lingers.

Don't drive after using it, don't mix it with alcohol or sleep medication, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Hashburger Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • It should stink. Gas, onion, cheese or garlic should hit you when the bag opens. A faint or sweet-only smell is a red flag.
  • Ask who grew it and from what cut. Hashburger runs through several growers; a good seller knows the source.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 35%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Dense, frosty buds with trichomes all the way through — this is a resin strain.
  • Check for mold. Leafly's grow guide warns Hashburger has low mold resistance and dense buds. Any gray fuzz, musty smell or brown spots inside a bud means pass.

Growing Hashburger

Leafly's Hashburger grow guide rates it moderate difficulty with moderate to high yields.

  • Flowering: 8–10 weeks; Leafly says week nine is often the sweet spot.
  • Structure: bushy and compact with tight internodes; expect a 1.5–2x stretch in the first two to three weeks of flower.
  • Veg: five to six weeks recommended.
  • Mold: low resistance, inherited from the Han Solo Hash Plant side. Keep humidity down and airflow up late in flower.
  • Outdoors: possible in warm, dry climates (70–80°F), but indoors is preferred.
  • Harvest: mostly cloudy trichomes with 10–20% amber.
  • Smell: carbon filters are a must — this is one of the loudest plants you can grow.
