Moroccan Peaches Strain

Moroccan Peaches Strain: Oakland's Peach-Scented Hash Plant

The Moroccan Peaches strain is a modern hash plant from Purple City Genetics in Oakland, California — a three-way cross of Barbara Bud, Lemon Tree and Skorange that smells like ripe peach and orange over pine and pepper. It made its name in the solventless world: a Moroccan Peaches live rosin placed in the Rosin category at the 2023 Emerald Cup, and the strain has since become a parent to more than a dozen newer crosses. The high is the opposite of a peach-dessert couch strain — energetic, focused and creative, with a calm body underneath. For fruit-forward daytime flower, start with our THCA flower collection.

It's also one of the more confusing strain names online. Sources disagree on how many parents it has, on what "Spanish Barbara" means, on whether it took first or second at the Emerald Cup, and one widely read guide claims a Peach Ringz lineage that no breeder-linked source supports. Below: what the breeder-linked databases actually say, how the high unfolds, what the potency numbers mean, why hash makers love it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.

A 360° look at Moroccan Peaches' frosty buds.

Moroccan Peaches Strain Genetics & Lineage

  • Type: Hybrid. Leafly lists it as a hybrid with "mostly energizing" effects; AllBud calls it an evenly balanced 50/50; an Australian medical producer, CannCompounding, labels its batch sativa-dominant.
  • Breeder: Purple City Genetics, credited by Leafly, SeedFinder and GrowDiaries. Leafly describes PCG as an Oakland, CA breeder.
  • Ancestry: Leafly's description reads "Spanish Barbara x Lemon Tree Skorange," and its family tree shows Barbara Bud and Lemon Tree as parents. SeedFinder lists the pedigree as (Lemon Tree × Barbara Bud) × Skorange and marks it "probable." GrowDiaries writes it as Barbara Bud × Lemon Tree × Skorange.
  • THC: about 22% on Leafly and GrowDiaries; AllBud's header says 16% while its description gives 19–26%; one CannCompounding batch listed 27.57%.
  • CBD: negligible — GrowDiaries lists 0.1%.
  • Aliases: MoP and MoPe (Leafly's abbreviations); often misspelled "Morrocan Peaches."

Where the grandparents come from

SeedFinder fills in the family tree one level up:

  • Lemon Tree — Lemon Skunk × Sour Diesel. This is the likely source of the citrus top note and the faint gas.
  • Barbara Bud — Shishkaberry × Afghani, from House of the Great Gardener. That Afghan side is the classic resin-maker in the mix. "Spanish Barbara," the name in Leafly's description, doesn't appear in SeedFinder; most likely it refers to the same Barbara Bud line, but no source we found confirms it.
  • Skorange — a Skunk cross with an unknown "Orange Juice Bud" parent, and the probable source of the orange and tree-fruit notes.

The Peach Ringz theory — and the name

One long JointCommerce guide guesses at a Peach Ringz or Moroccan-landrace parent; a second says the name has been used by several breeders. Neither cites a source, and neither matches the Purple City Genetics pedigree that Leafly, SeedFinder and GrowDiaries list — there's no Peach Ringz and no Moroccan landrace in it. The peach comes from the chemistry of the cross, not a peach-named parent. The "Moroccan" part most plausibly nods to Morocco's famous hash tradition, which fits a strain bred for hash, but we couldn't find the breeder explaining the name.

The Emerald Cup result: first or second?

Leafly's page says Moroccan Peaches "won first place in the Rosin category at the 2023 Emerald Cup." Weedmaps' list of 2023 Emerald Cup winners shows something slightly different: in Solventless Concentrate – Rosin, 2nd place went to "El Krem Moroccan Peaches Live Rosin," entered by El Krem × Purple City Genetics × Ahti Hash × Sunrise Gardens, with 1st going to Fullymelted × Alien Labs' Zkittlez. Either way, it's a top-two finish at one of the most respected solventless competitions — which is why Moroccan Peaches shows up so often as live rosin.

Moroccan Peaches' offspring

SeedFinder counts 16 direct descendants. The best known are Purple City's own Sour Peaches (Moroccan Peaches × AJ's Sour Diesel, 2024, which Leafly says washes at 6–7% hash yield), Marrakesh (× Canal Street Runtz, listed at 25% THC) and Habibi (The Original Z × Moroccan Peaches, released at Spannabis 2024). TH Seeds' Flash crosses it with Bubblegum, and Egyptian Gold, Fez, Momo and Moroccan Pi'nana Z all carry it too.

Moroccan Peaches Terpene Profile

Leafly doesn't list a dominant terpene for Moroccan Peaches — just "peach terps." The one lab-style listing we found, CannCompounding's medical batch, names caryophyllene, limonene and nerolidol as dominant. Strain guides add linalool, ocimene, myrcene and humulene, but without any lab data behind them. Caryophyllene is the one with real research interest: a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Limonene — orange, citrus, the bright lift

Caryophyllene — pepper, spice, wood

Linalool — floral, soft calm

Ocimene — sweet, fruity-green top note

Estimated relative profile for Moroccan Peaches — limonene and caryophyllene per one medical-batch listing; linalool and ocimene from strain guides without lab data. Nerolidol (also listed) isn't charted.

  • Limonene: The orange-and-citrus brightness, likely carried in from the Lemon Tree and Skorange sides, and part of why the high reads energetic.
  • Caryophyllene: The pepper, spice and wood under the fruit — the "cinnamon-coated oranges" note AllBud describes.
  • Nerolidol: A woody, floral terpene that showed up as dominant on the CannCompounding listing. It's less common, which may be part of what makes the nose unusual.
  • Linalool and ocimene: Floral and sweet-green notes credited by strain guides; treat them as plausible, not proven.

As with most "peach" strains, no single terpene is the peach. It's the whole blend — citrus, spice and sweet esters together — and it reads loudest in rosin, where the fresh-frozen terpenes survive best.

Appearance

AllBud describes fluffy, heart-shaped, forest-green nugs with dark leaves and golden undertones, threaded with thin orange hairs and a frosty coat of golden-white trichomes. GrowDiaries reports large green buds with orange pistils and heavy frost. That resin coverage is the point: this is a plant bred to be washed into hash, so the trichome heads matter more than the bag appeal — though the flower holds up on its own.

Aroma and Flavor

Crack a jar and you get ripe peach and orange first, then woody pine, pepper and a pungent, earthy base. AllBud's tasters describe "sweet and sugary peach" with "spicy cinnamon-coated oranges"; its aroma tags read earthy, orange, peppery, pine, pungent, spicy and woody. Leafly lists the flavors as peach, apricot and chemical, and one longtime reviewer compared it to Runtz, "but peachier." GrowDiaries adds gassy and pine notes, a nod to the Sour Diesel in Lemon Tree. CannCompounding's batch was more citrus and floral over earth.

A few Leafly reviewers say the flower smoke can be rough and make them cough. That's common with resin-heavy hash plants, and it's one reason many people prefer Moroccan Peaches as live rosin, where the peach-citrus comes through clean.

Recreational Effects

Moroccan Peaches is a get-things-done strain. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.7 rating, the most-reported effects are:

  • Energetic: the headline effect. One reviewer says it hit hard but still left them enough energy to work.
  • Focused: a clear, task-friendly head rather than a scattered buzz.
  • Creative: good for music, writing and projects.
  • Euphoric, happy and sociable: AllBud's description — a "happy, soaring high" that's quick to start.
  • Calm underneath: GrowDiaries and Leafly reviewers describe a relaxed body under the lift, "energizing yet relaxing."

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First few minutes: a quick, cerebral mood lift.
  • 15–60 minutes: the peak — energetic, focused and social.
  • 1–3 hours: a gentle settle into a calm body. At higher doses the Afghan side can make it heavier.

Because it leans energizing, one Leafly reviewer warns it may be too lively right before bed. Use it in the daytime.

How Strong Is Moroccan Peaches?

Moroccan Peaches is above average but not a record-breaker. The published numbers:

  • Leafly: 22% THC, "higher THC than average."
  • GrowDiaries: 22% THC, 0.1% CBD.
  • AllBud: 16% in the header, 19–26% in the description.
  • CannCompounding (one medical batch): 27.57% THC.

JointCommerce's 22–28% THCA range has no source behind it. Realistically, a well-grown cut lands in the low-to-mid 20s, and the strain's reputation rests on resin quality and flavor more than raw potency. In concentrate form it's a different story — live rosin is many times stronger than flower, so dose rosin far more carefully.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Moroccan Peaches against the 16–28% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Why Hash Makers Love Moroccan Peaches

Purple City Genetics breeds for solventless, and Moroccan Peaches is one of its flagship hash plants. The 2023 Emerald Cup rosin result made the name, and its children keep the trait: Leafly lists Sour Peaches at a 6–7% hash yield and Marrakesh at 5%. You'll see Moroccan Peaches on menus as live rosin, badder and live resin from brands like Raw Garden, Heavy Hitters, Bear Labs and Greenline, and as hash from Canada's Nasha. If you like the flavor of a strain more than the jar it comes in, rosin is the format to try.

Moroccan Peaches vs Similar Strains

  • vs Lemon Tree: the grandparent. Lemon Tree is all sour lemon and diesel; Moroccan Peaches trades much of that for peach and orange, with a little of the gas left in.
  • vs Peach Rings: similar peach-candy name, different family — Peach Rings is a Marionberry × Eddy OG cross with a sour, fuel-tinged finish and a creeping, relaxed body. Moroccan Peaches is brighter and more energetic.
  • vs Georgia Pie: the dessert-side peach strain. Georgia Pie reads like baked cobbler; Moroccan Peaches reads like fresh fruit and citrus.
  • vs Runtz and Zkittlez: candy-fruit strains in the same flavor conversation. A Leafly reviewer calls Moroccan Peaches Runtz "but peachier," and its child Habibi crosses it with The Original Z.
  • vs Tangie: if the orange side is what you're after, Tangie is the louder citrus option with a similar uplifting high.
  • vs Strawberry 2.1: our featured in-stock pick, and honestly not a twin. Both are bright, fruit-forward, sativa-leaning and social, but Strawberry 2.1 runs ripe strawberry with a faint gas finish instead of peach and orange. Prefer a hash-first experience? Our GovernMint Oasis live rosin is the solventless option on our shelf.

Who Moroccan Peaches Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: daytime smokers who want energy and focus, creative work, social sessions, fruit-and-citrus flavor fans, and rosin collectors.

Poor fit: anyone looking for a sleep or couch strain, and people prone to THC anxiety — "anxious" is one of Leafly's top-reported negatives. For a sweet-fruit, easygoing daytime flower on our shelf, Strawberry 2.1 is the pick, from $22.

How to Use Moroccan Peaches THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the peach and orange. Lower temperatures, around 350–380°F, keep the fruit bright; 390–410°F brings out the pepper and wood.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15–30 minutes. Regular users usually find two or three hits gives the full energetic arc. With rosin, start with a rice-grain-sized dab. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Anxiety: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 31% of reviewers) — though "anxious" is also a reported negative, so dose matters.
  • Headaches: about 12% of Leafly reviewers; AllBud also lists headaches and migraines.
  • Low appetite: about 12% of Leafly reviewers.
  • Stress, low mood and fatigue: listed by AllBud, consistent with the energetic, happy headline effects. One Leafly reviewer also reported help with hip pain.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly.
  • Anxiety — among the top-reported negatives, especially at high doses or low tolerance.
  • Harsh smoke — some reviewers report coughing on the flower.

Is Moroccan Peaches good for sleep? Usually not — it leans energizing. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Moroccan Peaches Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • Ask for the breeder. A Purple City Genetics cut is the documented one; with a name this widely used, provenance matters.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Peach and spice. A real Moroccan Peaches has ripe fruit and orange over pepper and pine. Flat, earthy flower with no fruit is old or mislabeled.
  • Resin you can see — golden-white frost all over, sticky to the touch. This is a hash plant; skimpy trichomes are a red flag.
  • A proper cure — hay or grass smell means it was rushed.

Growing Moroccan Peaches

Moroccan Peaches is a resin-first plant that GrowDiaries rates as better suited to experienced growers, with training needed for top yields.

  • Flowering: about 60 days indoors per SeedFinder; strain guides say 8–10 weeks.
  • Yield: up to about 500 g/m² indoors and 100–300 g per plant outdoors, per GrowDiaries.
  • Height: medium indoors, tall outdoors. Top early and use low-stress training or a light screen to keep the canopy even.
  • For hash: growers who wash it watch trichome heads closely late in flower and harvest when they're mostly cloudy.
  • Seeds: SeedFinder lists feminized seeds; the offspring lines from Purple City and other breeders are easier to find than the original.

Moroccan Peaches is a hybrid. Leafly calls its effects mostly energizing, AllBud lists it as a balanced 50/50, and one medical producer labels it sativa-dominant. Most people use it as a daytime strain.

What is Moroccan Peaches a cross of?

Purple City Genetics bred it from Barbara Bud, Lemon Tree and Skorange. Leafly writes it as Spanish Barbara × Lemon Tree Skorange; SeedFinder lists (Lemon Tree × Barbara Bud) × Skorange as the probable pedigree.

Who bred Moroccan Peaches?

Purple City Genetics, an Oakland, California breeder known for solventless hash plants.

Did Moroccan Peaches win the Emerald Cup?

It placed in the Rosin category at the 2023 Emerald Cup. Leafly says first place; Weedmaps' published winners list shows El Krem × Purple City Genetics × Ahti Hash × Sunrise Gardens' Moroccan Peaches live rosin in 2nd, behind Fullymelted × Alien Labs' Zkittlez.

How strong is Moroccan Peaches?

Leafly and GrowDiaries list about 22% THC, AllBud 16–26%, and one medical batch tested 27.57%. It's above average for flower; rosin made from it is far stronger.

What does Moroccan Peaches taste like?

Ripe peach, apricot and orange up front, then pepper, pine and a woody, earthy finish. AllBud describes sweet peach with 'spicy cinnamon-coated oranges.'

Does Moroccan Peaches have Peach Ringz genetics?

Not according to the breeder-linked databases. Leafly, SeedFinder and GrowDiaries list Barbara Bud, Lemon Tree and Skorange — no Peach Ringz. That theory comes from an unsourced strain guide.

Why is it called Moroccan Peaches?

The peach is the nose. The 'Moroccan' part most likely nods to Morocco's hash tradition, which suits a strain bred for hash, but we couldn't find the breeder's own explanation.

What are the effects of Moroccan Peaches?

Leafly reviewers report energetic, focused and creative effects; AllBud adds euphoric, happy and sociable, with a calm body underneath.

Is Moroccan Peaches good for anxiety?

It's mixed. About 31% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety, but 'anxious' is also a reported negative. Keep the dose low.
