Berry White Strain

Berry White Strain: Blueberry Meets White Widow

The Berry White strain is a sweet, balanced hybrid that most databases list as Blueberry × White Widow — two of the most famous strains of the 1990s in one plant. It is usually credited to Green Beanz Seeds, a Colorado breeder, and the name does exactly what it says: Blueberry's berry sweetness, White Widow's frost. Expect blueberry, light sour berry and pine on the nose, a happy, euphoric onset and a relaxed body, at potency that sits in the high teens to low 20s rather than the 30% headlines. It fits the berry corner of our THCA flower collection.

It is also a strain with a muddled paper trail. The breeder's own listing names a different "White" parent, several seed companies sell a similar cross as "White Berry," and menus spell it "Barry White." Below: what each source actually says, how the high unfolds, the terpene numbers, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.

A 360° look at Berry White's frosty buds.

Berry White Strain Genetics & Lineage

  • Type: Hybrid. Leafly lists it as a hybrid with "even, balanced effects"; AllBud puts it at 65% indica / 35% sativa; Weedmaps calls it indica-leaning.
  • Ancestry: Blueberry × White Widow, per Leafly, AllBud, Weedmaps and Cannigma. See the conflict below.
  • Breeder: Green Beanz Seeds, usually described as a Colorado breeder. Weedmaps and SeedFinder's general entry both flag that credit as unconfirmed.
  • THC: Leafly lists 16%; Cannigma's average across lab-tested products is 17.3%; Weedmaps 17–23%; AllBud 19–23%; GrowDiaries 21%.
  • CBD: Trace — Cannigma's lab average is 0.04%, GrowDiaries lists 0.28%. Cannigma also reports a meaningful amount of CBG (0.5–2%).
  • Aliases: Barry White, BW, BerryWhite and Blue Widow. Not the same thing as every "White Berry" — more on that below.

The Green Beanz story

On its SeedFinder listing, Green Beanz Seeds describes BerryWhite as an unplanned project — "just a stepping stone to a bigger project." The breeder says one standout plant turned up during an F4 selection, and that plant became the strain. It was released as regular seeds only; SeedFinder notes it was never sold feminized.

The stepping stone stuck. Green Beanz later backcrossed it (BerryWhite BX, using a Fire Alien Kush cross), and it turns up in Frog Fart, a cross with Stardawg. Leafly lists Tangie Berry and White Girl as offspring; Cannigma says White Girl is Berry White × Girl Scout Cookies.

Where the sources disagree

Here is the conflict. Leafly, AllBud, Weedmaps, Cannigma and SeedFinder's general "unknown or legendary" entry all say Blueberry × White Widow. But the breeder's own SeedFinder entry lists DJ Short's Blueberry (a sativa-leaning phenotype) crossed with White Indica, a Ceres Seeds strain — and even SeedFinder marks that White Indica parent "probably." Both versions agree on the Blueberry side and on a frosty "White" parent from the Dutch seed scene. We list Blueberry × White Widow because that's what nearly every source uses, but the breeder's own record points to White Indica.

Berry White vs White Berry vs Blue Widow

  • White Berry (Paradise Seeds): a separate Dutch seed line. SeedFinder lists it as "probably" White Widow × Blueberry too, but at 75% indica with a fast ~50-day bloom. Same idea, different breeder and selection.
  • Blue Widow: an alias Weedmaps and Cannigma attach to Berry White; AllBud attaches it to White Berry.
  • Blue Venom: per Weedmaps, G13 Labs crossed the same two parents under this name.

So if a seed pack says "White Berry," it may be close — but it's not necessarily the Green Beanz cut sold on menus as Berry White.

Berry White Terpene Profile

Leafly lists limonene as dominant, followed by pinene and caryophyllene. Cannigma's averages from lab-tested Berry White products put numbers on it: limonene 0.45%, myrcene 0.2%, caryophyllene 0.2% and pinene 0.19%. GrowDiaries lists myrcene as dominant — a reminder that terpene profiles shift from grower to grower.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Limonene — sweet berry-citrus lift

Myrcene — ripe fruit, relaxed body

Caryophyllene — pepper, warmth

Pinene — pine, clear head

Relative profile for Berry White from Cannigma's lab averages (limonene 0.45%, myrcene 0.2%, caryophyllene 0.2%, pinene 0.19%). Batch COAs vary by grower.

  • Limonene: The bright, sweet top note — it lifts the berry and drives the happy, euphoric onset.
  • Myrcene: Ripe, musky fruit; it carries the jammy blueberry and the relaxed body underneath.
  • Caryophyllene: A light pepper on the exhale, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
  • Pinene: The pine note Leafly's reviewers pick up, and part of why the high stays clear rather than foggy at moderate doses.

The blueberry itself isn't one terpene. It's Blueberry's overall chemistry — the same berry signature that runs through Blueberry Kush, Blueberry Haze and Blue Dream.

Appearance

Berry White looks like both parents. Weedmaps describes tight, deep green buds with orange pistils and a silvery trichome coat, with some selections showing blue or purple shades. Leafly says the flowers are generally blue with orange hairs. AllBud describes dense, popcorn-shaped buds in dark olive green with deep blue and purple undertones and a heavy coat of crystal trichomes. That frost is the White Widow (or White Indica) side; the blue-purple cast is Blueberry.

Aroma and Flavor

Open a jar and the first thing you get is sweet berry, then a light sour fruit and fresh pine behind it — Leafly calls it a "light sour berry and pine" smell with a taste to match. On Weedmaps, reported flavors break down to berry (47%), blueberry (28%) and sweet (25%), with pine, earthy, herbal and a minty finish in the description. AllBud describes the taste as "sweet blueberry cake," with pine and spice. A Vermont grower, Theory Wellness, describes sweet cake, tart berries and hints of floral earth. Green Beanz itself calls the flavor "sweet, skunky, minty," per Cannigma. The inhale is berry and sweet; the exhale is pine, earth and a faint sour edge.

Recreational Effects

Berry White is a middle-of-the-road high in the best sense — balanced, friendly, and not built to flatten you. On Leafly, with nearly 1,200 reviews and a 4.4 rating, the most-reported effects are:

  • Relaxed: the headline effect — an easy body calm that builds with dose.
  • Euphoric: a warm, upbeat mood lift early on.
  • Happy: social, chatty and content; Weedmaps notes a mental lift that "supports conversation."
  • Creative: AllBud lists creative alongside euphoria and happy, and Leafly suggests it suits creative activity.
  • Hungry: GrowDiaries and AllBud both mention the munchies on the back end.

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First 5–10 minutes: a fast onset, per AllBud — a warming body sensation and a lift in mood.
  • Around the first hour: the peak — happy, euphoric and relaxed, with a clear enough head to talk, cook or watch something.
  • 1–3 hours: a slow settle. At higher doses AllBud describes meditative thinking, couch-lock and munchies; Weedmaps says sleepiness can develop.

Cannigma says it works at almost any time of day, with a slightly stronger calming feel in the evening, and calls it "not heavy." That matches Leafly's reviews: some smoke it on a sunny afternoon; others call it a night strain. Dose decides which one you get.

How Strong Is Berry White?

Berry White is moderate by modern standards — and that's a selling point for a lot of people. The numbers by source:

  • Leafly: 16% THC, 0% CBD, though Leafly still calls it higher than average.
  • Cannigma: 17.3% THC on average across lab-tested products, plus 0.5–2% CBG.
  • Weedmaps: 17–23%.
  • AllBud: 19–23%.
  • GrowDiaries: 21%.

Call it the high teens to low 20s on a typical batch. That's well under the 28–30% dessert strains on most menus, which is exactly why Berry White reads as balanced rather than overwhelming. A well-grown modern cut can test higher; the only way to know is the batch paperwork.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Berry White against the 16–23% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Berry White vs Similar Strains

  • vs Blueberry: the berry parent — sweeter, sleepier and more indica. Berry White keeps the fruit but adds a frostier bud and a brighter, more social onset.
  • vs White Widow: the frosty parent — earthier, woodier and more energetic. Berry White trades some of that buzz for berry sweetness and a calmer body.
  • vs White Rhino: another White Widow child, but crossed with Afghan indica — heavier, hashier and much sleepier.
  • vs Blue Dream: Blueberry × Haze. Same berry, more sativa — Blue Dream is the daytime pick, Berry White the afternoon-into-evening one.
  • vs Blueberry Pancakes: the closest blueberry match on our shelf — a Slurricane × Purple Panty Dropper indica with a blueberry, grape-jam and maple-batter nose. It's heavier and more dessert-like than Berry White, so take a smaller dose than you would of a balanced hybrid.

Who Berry White Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: people who want a flavorful, moderate-strength hybrid; afternoon and evening unwinding; social sessions; anyone who finds 30% dessert strains too much.

Poor fit: heavy-tolerance smokers chasing knockout potency, or anyone wanting a racy, focused daytime sativa. For a lighter fruit option on our shelf, Strawberry 2.1 starts from $22.

How to Use Berry White THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the berry. Around 350–370°F keeps the limonene sweetness up front; 390–410°F brings out the pine and the heavier body.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 10–15 minutes — it hits fast but isn't a knockout. Regular users usually find two or three hits gives the full happy-then-relaxed arc. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers report on Leafly and other databases, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Stress: the most-cited reason on Leafly, at 34% of reviewers.
  • Anxiety: 33% of Leafly reviewers report help — though "anxious" is also one of its top negatives, so dose matters.
  • Pain: 25% of Leafly reviewers; AllBud reviewers also mention nerve pain.
  • Sleep and appetite: GrowDiaries lists insomnia, and AllBud reviewers mention sleep and appetite loss — consistent with the relaxed, munchy back end.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Dry mouth and dry eyes — the two most-reported negatives on Leafly.
  • Anxiety — Leafly's third most-reported negative, usually at higher doses or low tolerance.
  • Dizziness — listed by Cannigma as a possible side effect.
  • Couch-lock and munchies — AllBud's description of the back end at bigger doses.

Is Berry White good for sleep? At higher doses, often — the relaxed body builds and sleepiness can follow. At small doses it's more happy and social than sedating. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Berry White Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • Berry first, then pine. A real Berry White smells of sweet blueberry with a light sour, piney back end. Plain earth or hay means a different cut or a bad cure.
  • Frost. White Widow-side resin should coat the bud, not just dust the tips. Blue or purple hues are a plus but not required.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. A Berry White claiming 35% deserves a second look. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Name check. "White Berry" from a seed company may be a different selection; ask where the cut came from.
  • A proper cure — sticky but not wet, with a springy snap when you break it.

Growing Berry White

Berry White is widely described as an easy grow. Cannigma calls it easy with strong mold and mildew resistance, and GrowDiaries notes its tolerance for humidity.

  • Flowering: 7–9 weeks per Cannigma; Weedmaps says about 55–65 days indoors; GrowDiaries about 67 days; Leafly 63–72 days.
  • Yield: Cannigma lists about 18 oz per plant outdoors and about 1.5 oz per square foot indoors; GrowDiaries just over 300 g/m².
  • Height: medium — GrowDiaries says it rarely tops 70 cm indoors.
  • Climate: prefers dry, warm and sunny; outdoor harvest around early October in the Northern Hemisphere.
  • Seeds: Green Beanz released regular seeds only. Growers Choice and Premium Cultivars sell "Berry White"; Paradise Seeds and VIP Seeds sell "White Berry," which may not be the same selection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Berry White indica or sativa?

Berry White is a hybrid. Leafly lists it as a balanced hybrid, AllBud puts it at 65% indica, and Weedmaps calls it indica-leaning. In practice it opens happy and euphoric and turns relaxing as the dose goes up.

What is Berry White a cross of?

Most sources — Leafly, AllBud, Weedmaps and Cannigma — list Blueberry × White Widow. The breeder's own SeedFinder listing names DJ Short Blueberry × White Indica (a Ceres Seeds strain) instead, and marks that parent as 'probably.'

Who bred Berry White?

It's usually credited to Green Beanz Seeds, a Colorado breeder, which describes it as an unplanned 'stepping stone to a bigger project.' Weedmaps and SeedFinder's general entry call that credit unconfirmed.

Is Berry White the same as White Berry?

Not always. Paradise Seeds sells a separate strain called White Berry — also probably White Widow × Blueberry, but a different breeder and selection with a faster ~50-day bloom. Some databases use the two names interchangeably.

Is Berry White named after Barry White?

Menus and Leafly often spell it 'Barry White,' but the name comes from its parents — Blueberry and White Widow (or White Indica).

What does Berry White taste like?

Sweet blueberry and berry on the inhale, then pine, a light sour fruit and a faint earthy or minty finish. AllBud describes it as sweet blueberry cake.

How strong is Berry White?

Moderate. Leafly lists 16% THC, Cannigma's lab average is 17.3%, and Weedmaps and AllBud give ranges up to 23%. Check total THC on the batch COA.

What are the effects of Berry White?

Relaxed, euphoric and happy are the top effects on Leafly, with creative and hungry also reported. It starts upbeat and social and gets more relaxing with dose.

Is Berry White good for sleep?

At higher doses, often — the relaxed body builds and sleepiness can follow. At small doses it's more happy and social than sedating.

Is Berry White good for anxiety?

It's mixed. About 33% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety, but 'anxious' is also among its top-reported negatives. Low doses are the safer approach.

Is Berry White good for beginners?

It's one of the friendlier options — moderate potency and a balanced high. Start with one small puff and wait 10–15 minutes.

How long does Berry White take to flower?

About 7–9 weeks indoors, depending on the source — Weedmaps says 55–65 days, Leafly 63–72. It's considered easy to grow and mold resistant.

Where can I buy Berry White THCA flower online?

Berry White isn't in the Diesel Hemp shop right now. The closest match is Blueberry Pancakes THCA Flower — an indica-dominant blueberry strain with a blueberry, grape-jam and vanilla-batter nose and a relaxed finish, from $24, third-party lab tested, with free shipping over $75. It's heavier than Berry White, so start with a smaller dose.
