Blue Andeze Strain: Blueberry and Thin Mint, Rebuilt From Tissue Culture
The Blue Andeze strain is Kounter Kulture's cross of Thin Mint GSC and DJ Short's Blueberry — two old-school cuts that breeder Kristian Andreassen restored through tissue culture before putting them together. It smells like blueberry jam with a cool mint edge, opens happy and talkative, and settles into a calm, full-body finish. Most menus list it in the mid-to-high 20s for THC. It belongs in the berry-dessert corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also one of the most misspelled strains on dispensary menus. You'll see Blue Andeze, Blue Andez and Blue Andes, and one widely read strain guide claims nobody knows who bred it. The breeder is documented, and the parents are too. Below: where it really comes from, how it compares with Blue Cookies (same parents on paper), what the potency numbers mean, how the high unfolds, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Blue Andeze's frosty buds.

- Type: Indica-leaning hybrid. GrowDiaries, Seeds Here Now and the California brand Pure Beauty call it indica-dominant; Leafly calls it a balanced hybrid.
- Ancestry: Thin Mint GSC × DJ Short Blueberry. Leafly, GrowDiaries, Seeds Here Now and brand listings on Weedmaps (Pure Beauty, Codes) all give the same cross, and a grow diary on THCFarmer lists it as "Thin Mint GSC x DJ Shorts Blueberry."
- Breeder: Kounter Kulture, with GrowDiaries and Seeds Here Now naming Kristian Andreassen as the creator. The THCFarmer diary title also credits AestheticGenetix, and Pure Beauty's listing says "bred by Conception Nurseries" — the tissue-culture nursery tied to the project.
- THC: Leafly lists 26%, GrowDiaries 27%, Pure Beauty 26% on its indoor jars. Seeds Here Now gives 22–30% and says some tested batches reached 30–34% THCA.
- CBD: Trace — GrowDiaries lists 0.1%, Pure Beauty 0.01%.
- Spellings: Blue Andeze, Blue Andez (Leafly, Codes) and Blue Andes (GrowDiaries) are the same strain. A replying grower on THCFarmer calls it "blueberry mints." Don't confuse the flower with branded edibles that borrow the name — at least one California extract brand sells "Blue Andeze" tablets.
The parents
Thin Mint GSC is the most famous Girl Scout Cookies phenotype, the cut that made "Cookies" a household name. SeedFinder traces it to OG Kush (South Florida) × F1 Durban. It brings the dense, frosty structure, the minty-sweet dough note and most of the potency.
DJ Short Blueberry is the 1970s-rooted classic DJ Short built from Afghani, Thai and Purple Thai landrace genetics; it took Best Indica at the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup. It brings the true-to-fruit blueberry nose, the indica body and the purple tones that show up when nights run cool.
The tissue-culture story
What makes Blue Andeze different from just another GSC × Blueberry cross is how the parents were handled. According to Seeds Here Now, Andreassen ran both cuts through tissue culture first — a lab propagation method that grows clean plants from tiny samples of plant tissue — because decades of cloning had cost them vigor and terpene output. Seeds Here Now quotes Conception Nurseries describing the restored line as running "at its all-time high" for terpenes, THC and vigor, and calling it "one of the best-yielding candies." We couldn't find a first-party statement from Kounter Kulture itself, so treat the specifics as the nursery's and retailer's account.
Where the sources disagree
The biggest outlier is a JointCommerce guide that says Blue Andeze has "no widely documented origin," guesses at a Blueberry-family lineage and estimates potency at 18–24%. Every source that names a breeder — GrowDiaries, Seeds Here Now, Codes, THCFarmer — names Kounter Kulture and the same two parents, so we treat that guide as out of date. The remaining questions are minor: indica-dominant or balanced, and whether credit goes to the breeder (Kounter Kulture) or the nursery that restored the parents (Conception), as Pure Beauty's listing has it.
Is Blue Andeze the same as Blue Cookies?
Not quite. On paper, Blue Cookies is the same pairing — GSC × Blueberry, which SeedFinder traces "probably" to Thin Mint and DJ Short. But Blue Cookies has no documented breeder and circulates as many different cuts, while Blue Andeze is a specific Kounter Kulture selection made from tissue-cultured parents.
Blue Andeze Terpene Profile
GrowDiaries lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, and Seeds Here Now gives the top three as caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene. That's a classic Cookies-family stack — the peppery, warm base that GSC lines are known for — with the Blueberry side adding musk and fruit. Caryophyllene matters on its own: a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, warm spice, the GSC base
Limonene — bright lift, lemon finish
Myrcene — musky berry, relaxed body
Linalool — floral, calming edge
Typical relative profile for Blue Andeze — caryophyllene-led per GrowDiaries and Seeds Here Now. Linalool is a minor note in some batches; COAs vary by grower.
- Caryophyllene: The warm, peppery backbone from the Thin Mint side, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: The bright, tangy lift — and likely the lemon note Pure Beauty describes on the exhale.
- Myrcene: Musky and ripe; it carries the blueberry and the relaxed body. A Leafly reviewer pins the Blueberry parent's "musk" on it.
- Linalool and humulene: Floral and woody accents that show up in some Cookies-family batches.
The mint isn't one terpene. It's the Thin Mint cut's overall chemistry, and it's what separates Blue Andeze from straight blueberry strains like Blueberry Kush.
Appearance
Blue Andeze looks like a Cookies strain with a Blueberry paint job. Seeds Here Now describes dense, compact buds in deep green with purple tones — sometimes dominant in certain phenotypes — under a heavy coat of silvery trichomes, sticky to the touch. Pure Beauty calls its jars "dense, trichome-covered buds." Expect orange pistils threaded through, and more purple when the plants finished in cool nights.
Aroma and Flavor
Crack a jar and you get blueberry first — but Seeds Here Now's description is the right one: closer to berry jam than fresh fruit. Behind it sits a cool mint undertone and a little tang. Grind it and everything gets louder. Brand descriptions line up: Pure Beauty lists sweet berry and cool mint with a lemon finish; Codes describes "blue raspberry and fresh mint flavors" with a musky exhale; GrowDiaries lists blueberry, mint and earthy.
The inhale is smooth and sweet, with rounded berry. The exhale turns minty and herbal, with faint earth and pepper underneath — the GSC side showing through. Vaporize it low to keep the jam and mint; combusted, the pepper and earth come forward.
Recreational Effects
Blue Andeze starts upbeat and ends calm. Leafly's top-listed effects are creative, talkative and happy, and its summary describes an uplifting, creative start that shifts into gentle physical relaxation. Pure Beauty and Codes both describe early euphoria and chattiness that settles into full-body calm. The most-reported effects across sources:
- Happy and euphoric: a warm mood lift in the first half hour.
- Talkative: unusually social for an indica-leaning strain — a recurring note on Leafly and brand listings.
- Creative: at modest doses the head stays clear enough for music, cooking or a project.
- Relaxed: a body calm that builds slowly. Seeds Here Now says real couch-lock is uncommon.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a mild lift and a calm head — GrowDiaries users describe early mental clarity.
- 20–60 minutes: the peak — happy, chatty and loose, with the body starting to sink.
- 1–3 hours: a slow shift into full-body relaxation. At higher doses it becomes an evening strain.
Social enough for company, relaxing enough to end the day on — a late-afternoon-to-evening strain.

How Strong Is Blue Andeze?
Strong, but not record-chasing. The numbers we found:
- Leafly: 26% THC, with potency rated above average; its summary says THC is commonly in the mid-20s, approaching 30%.
- GrowDiaries: 27% THC, 0.1% CBD.
- Pure Beauty (California, indoor): 26% THC.
- Seeds Here Now: 22–30% THC, and 30–34% THCA on some tested batches.
- JointCommerce: 18–24% — but that guide doesn't know the parents, so treat its numbers as estimates.
Realistically, well-grown flower lands around 25–30% — potent. Grower and cure matter more than the name, and the gentle onset makes it easy to overshoot, so pace it.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Blue Andeze against the 22–30% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Blue Andeze vs Similar Strains
- vs Blue Cookies: the same GSC × Blueberry idea without a documented breeder. Blue Cookies reads more candy-sweet; Blue Andeze adds the mint and comes from tissue-cultured parents.
- vs Blueberry Cookies: shares the Thin Mint GSC parent but pairs it with Blueberry Tahoe. Nuttier, more myrcene-led, with a similar minty note.
- vs Berry Pie: Cookies and Seed Junky's GSC × Blueberry — more baked berry, less mint.
- vs Blueberry: the parent. Earthier, sleepier and lower-testing. Blue Andeze adds GSC's potency, frost and mint.
- vs GSC: the other parent. Sweet dough and pepper with a stronger head high. Blue Andeze trades some of that for berry and a softer landing.
- vs Kush Mints and Animal Mints: the gassier, more modern mint strains. Blue Andeze is fruitier and less fuel-forward.
- vs Blueberry Pancakes: our closest match in stock — Slurricane × Purple Panty Dropper, indica-dominant, with a blueberry, grape-jam, maple and vanilla-batter nose. It shares Blue Andeze's blueberry-jam sweetness and calm finish, but it's syrupy rather than minty and leans a bit more toward the couch. If the mint is what you're after, Straw Gua Mintz is the minty option on our shelf.
Who Blue Andeze Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: fans of berry and mint flavors; late-afternoon and evening sessions with friends; anyone who wants an indica-leaning strain that stays social instead of shutting them down.
Poor fit: people looking for a racy, wake-and-bake sativa, very low-tolerance users with a high-testing batch, and anyone who dislikes sweet profiles. For a brighter fruit strain with more daytime energy, Strawberry Glue is the livelier option on our shelf.
How to Use Blue Andeze THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the blueberry jam and mint. Around 350–375°F keeps the fruit and the cool edge; 385–400°F brings out the pepper and the body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15 minutes — the gentle onset makes it easy to overshoot on a batch testing near 30%. Regular users usually find two or three hits give the full chatty-to-calm arc. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers and sellers report, not established clinical outcomes. Blue Andeze is a newer strain with a small review base — Leafly has only a handful of reviews — so treat this as an early picture. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Stress: the most common reason people reach for it, consistent with the happy, calm profile. Seeds Here Now lists stress relief first.
- Low mood: the euphoric, talkative start is the draw here; Seeds Here Now lists mood support.
- Physical tension: the slow-building body relaxation, which Seeds Here Now also links to occasional headaches and discomfort.
- Winding down: bigger evening doses are used to relax before bed.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints, per GrowDiaries.
- Dizziness — also listed by GrowDiaries, usually from too much too fast.
- Anxiety or racing thoughts — uncommon with a calm strain like this, but possible with aggressive dosing on a high-testing batch.
- Drowsiness — at higher doses, especially late in the day.
Is Blue Andeze good for sleep? At bigger doses, it can be — at small doses it's more happy and chatty than sleepy. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
How to Judge a Good Bag of Blue Andeze
- Ask about the source. A seller who can say "Kounter Kulture, Thin Mint GSC × DJ Short Blueberry" knows what they have. Don't let the spelling throw you — Andeze, Andez and Andes are the same strain.
- Jam and mint, both. Real Blue Andeze smells like blueberry jam with a cool mint edge. Pure earth or pure gas suggests a different cut; hay or grass means a rushed cure.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Dense, silvery frost with trichomes all the way into the bud — the GSC side should show.
- Flower, not edibles. Make sure you're buying buds, not a branded tablet or gummy that borrows the name.
Growing Blue Andeze
Blue Andeze is a clone-only cut circulated through nurseries rather than a seed release — the THCFarmer grower picked up a tissue-cultured clone. Seeds Here Now rates it moderate difficulty and more forgiving than most exotic strains.
- Flowering: about 60 days, or 8–9 weeks from flip, per Seeds Here Now and GrowDiaries. The THCFarmer grower flipped on June 1 and chopped at the end of July, right around week 8–9.
- Yield: Seeds Here Now reports 450–600 g/m² in dialed-in indoor rooms and 500–900 g per plant outdoors in warm, long-season climates with large containers.
- Height: moderate, and well suited to indoor grows with topping and light training.
- Airflow and humidity: the buds are dense — keep air moving and humidity down in late flower to head off bud rot.
- Color and terps: cooler nights late in flower bring out the purple; stable conditions through the end of flower and a slow cure protect the jam-and-mint terpenes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Blue Andeze indica or sativa?
It's an indica-leaning hybrid. GrowDiaries, Seeds Here Now and Pure Beauty call it indica-dominant, while Leafly lists it as balanced. In practice it opens happy and talkative, then settles into a calm body high.
What is Blue Andeze a cross of?
Thin Mint GSC × DJ Short Blueberry. Leafly, GrowDiaries, Seeds Here Now and brand listings all agree on the cross.
Who bred Blue Andeze?
Kounter Kulture, with breeder Kristian Andreassen credited as the creator. The parents were restored through tissue culture, and some listings credit Conception Nurseries, the nursery tied to that work.
Is Blue Andez the same as Blue Andeze?
Yes. Blue Andeze, Blue Andez and Blue Andes are spellings of the same Thin Mint GSC × DJ Short Blueberry strain. GrowDiaries lists Blue Andeze as an alternate name for Blue Andes.
What does Blue Andeze taste like?
Blueberry jam and cool mint. The inhale is smooth and sweet with rounded berry; the exhale is minty and herbal, with faint earth, pepper and, in some batches, a lemon finish.
How strong is Blue Andeze?
Leafly and Pure Beauty list 26% THC and GrowDiaries 27%. Seeds Here Now gives 22–30%, with some tested batches at 30–34% THCA. Expect mid-to-high 20s on well-grown flower and check the batch COA.
What are the effects of Blue Andeze?
Happy, talkative and creative at first, then a slow-building full-body relaxation. Seeds Here Now says real couch-lock is uncommon unless you take a lot.
Is Blue Andeze the same as Blue Cookies?
No, though the parents are similar. Blue Cookies is GSC × Blueberry with no documented breeder; Blue Andeze is Kounter Kulture's specific selection of Thin Mint GSC × DJ Short Blueberry, made from tissue-cultured parents, with more mint in the profile.
Is Blue Andeze good for sleep?
At bigger doses late in the day, it can be. At small doses it's more social and happy than sedating.
Is Blue Andeze good for beginners?
It's gentler than racy sativas, but most batches test in the mid-to-high 20s. Beginners should take one small puff and wait 15 minutes.
How long does Blue Andeze take to flower?
About 60 days, or 8–9 weeks from flip. It's a moderate-difficulty plant with dense buds, so give it good airflow late in flower.
Where can I buy Blue Andeze THCA flower online?
