Gorilla Breath Strain: Glue Meets Cookies Breath
The Gorilla Breath strain is an indica-dominant cross of Original Glue — better known as Gorilla Glue #4 — and OGKB, the OG Kush Breath cut of Girl Scout Cookies. Humboldt Seed Organization made it in California, and the name tells you what it inherited: GG4's sticky resin and knockout weight, plus the OGKB "Breath" family's earthy-sweet nose. It smells like diesel and pine over chocolate and vanilla, tests from the low to high 20s for THC, and hits fast. It belongs to the gassy, heavy, evening side of our THCA flower collection.
Gorilla Breath is also a name with two meanings. Most databases describe Humboldt Seed Organization's GG4 × OGKB, but SeedFinder also catalogs a ThugPug Genetics Gorilla Breath built on Mendo Breath instead. Below: who made which, what each parent brings, how the high unfolds, what the potency numbers really mean, how to use it, how to grow it and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Gorilla Breath's frosty buds.
Quick Facts

Gorilla Breath Strain Genetics & Lineage
- Type: Indica-dominant. AllBud and SeedFinder both list 80% indica / 20% sativa, and Weedmaps calls it a "mostly indica hybrid." Leafly simply lists it as a hybrid with mostly calming effects. One outlier: an Ontario producer, Kronic, sells it as "sativa dominant."
- Parents: Original Glue (GG4) × OGKB. Leafly, AllBud, Weedmaps and growdiaries all agree; SeedFinder's Humboldt listing marks OGKB as "probably," a sign the breeder never fully published the cut.
- Breeder: Humboldt Seed Organization, California — credited by Leafly, Weedmaps, SeedFinder and growdiaries. It's sold as feminized seed.
- THC: Leafly 22%; growdiaries 26%; AllBud 25–27%; SeedFinder 27%.
- Minor cannabinoids: Leafly lists about 1% CBG. CBD is negligible — SeedFinder lists 0.1%.
- Aliases: Leafly's code is "Grh." It's sometimes shortened to GB. It is not the same as Royal Queen Seeds' Royal Gorilla, which SeedFinder happens to list on the same page.
What each parent brings
Gorilla Glue #4 is the famously sticky Chem's Sister × Sour Dubb × Chocolate Diesel hybrid, per SeedFinder's genealogy. That Chocolate Diesel branch, plus Chemdawg and Sour Diesel further back, is the most likely source of Gorilla Breath's chocolate-and-fuel flavor and its heavy resin.
OGKB (OG Kush Breath) is a selected Girl Scout Cookies phenotype; SeedFinder traces it to OG Kush and Durban lines. It's the same "Breath" that sits behind Mendo Breath, and it adds the earthy, vanilla-sweet side and the calm, indica-leaning body.
Two Gorilla Breaths: Humboldt vs ThugPug
SeedFinder lists a second, separate Gorilla Breath from ThugPug Genetics: GG4 × Mendo Breath F2 (the "Studly Spewright" line). Since Mendo Breath is itself OGKB × Mendo Montage, the two crosses are cousins — both GG4 on one side and OGKB blood on the other — but they are not the same plant. ThugPug is also the breeder behind Mule Fuel. Most dispensary flower labeled Gorilla Breath traces to the Humboldt cross, but if a seller can't tell you which version they have, assume the label is approximate.
What Gorilla Breath passed on
Leafly lists two descendants — TS Tokyo Sunset and GUNK — and SeedFinder lists Killin Gorillah from Blurred Vision Genetics, a Gorilla Breath × Magnum Breath cross. It hasn't spawned a big family yet; most of its fame is as a flower and extract strain in its own right.
Gorilla Breath Terpene Profile
Leafly lists myrcene as the dominant terpene, followed by pinene and caryophyllene. Kronic's Ontario-grown batches list caryophyllene and myrcene, and other guides add limonene and humulene in smaller amounts. That cast fits the jar: myrcene for the earthy, heavy body, pinene for the pine, caryophyllene for the peppery fuel edge. Caryophyllene is worth knowing on its own — a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Myrcene — earthy, herbal, the heavy body
Pinene — fresh pine top note
Caryophyllene — pepper, diesel, the GG4 bite
Limonene — faint sweet citrus lift
Typical relative profile for Gorilla Breath — myrcene-led per Leafly. Some batches (Kronic) lead with caryophyllene. Exact ratios vary by cut, grower and cure.
- Myrcene: Earthy, herbal and musky — the terpene most associated with heavy, relaxed strains, and the floor under Gorilla Breath's body high.
- Pinene: The pine every source mentions, and part of why the first few minutes can feel clear and giggly instead of foggy.
- Caryophyllene: Peppery and fuel-edged — the spicy "diesel" bite from the GG4 side, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: A minor player here, adding a little sweetness and mood lift.
The chocolate and vanilla aren't a single terpene — they come from the overall chemistry of the Chocolate Diesel and Cookies lines, and they're stronger in some cuts than others.
Appearance
AllBud describes "oversized fluffy rounded neon green nugs with long light orange hairs" and a sticky coat of bright white trichomes. Kronic's Ontario batches run lime green with purple hues and orange pistils, and Leafly notes "high resin production." Expect frosty, greasy flower that sticks to your fingers — this is a Glue kid — with denser buds than the word "fluffy" suggests when it's grown well.
Aroma and Flavor
Gorilla Breath is gas with a sweet finish. Leafly describes "a strong OG aroma" with "notes of pine, fuel, chocolate, and diesel," and its users' top flavors are woody, vanilla and nutty. AllBud's aromas are chocolate, diesel, earthy, pine, pungent and spicy, and it calls the taste "a rich chocolaty diesel flavor with a touch of vanilla and earth." Weedmaps says it smells of earthy pine, vanilla and diesel and tastes like chocolate, sweet vanilla and gas. SeedFinder's breeder notes describe an "earthy, gassy, sweet vanilla bean aroma."
Put together: crack the jar and it's diesel and pine first, then earth and a cocoa-vanilla sweetness underneath. The exhale is peppery fuel with a nutty, woody finish. Not everyone loves the smoke — one Leafly reviewer found it "not too flavorful with a hint of piney 'spicy' burn" — so the cure matters.
Recreational Effects
Gorilla Breath starts social and ends heavy. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.5-star average from 55 ratings, the top reported effects are:
- Tingly: a body buzz that arrives early.
- Relaxed: deep, full-body calm — Leafly calls the profile "mostly calming."
- Giggly: the surprise. The first stretch is often silly and chatty.
- Euphoric, happy and creative: AllBud's list adds creative, euphoria, focus, giggly and happy, and the breeder's notes on SeedFinder describe "a potent, long-lasting, clear, cerebral high."
- Hungry and sleepy: common in Leafly reviews — one sums it up as "Helps me chill, hungry and sleepy!"
AllBud is blunt about the weight: it "packs a super heavy high that can knock out even the most experienced of patients," and it "comes on fast and hard with a slam of both mental and physical effects."
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 2–5 minutes: a quick head change — giggly, uplifted, a little tingly.
- 15–45 minutes: the body arrives. One Leafly reviewer says the body effects take about 15 minutes to build; limbs get heavy and the snacks come out.
- 1–3 hours: a long, relaxed plateau. At low doses it stays social; at high doses it ends on the couch or in bed.
A small dose is a hangout strain. A big one is a nightcap, whether you planned it or not.

How Strong Is Gorilla Breath?
Strong — and the published numbers spread wider than most strains:
- Leafly: 22% THC, about 1% CBG — "higher THC than average."
- growdiaries: 26% on its listing, "up to 27%" in its description.
- AllBud: 25–27%.
- SeedFinder (Humboldt Seed Organization): 27%, CBD 0.1%.
- Kronic (Ontario grower): 27–33% on its retail listing.
Treat the low 20s as a typical batch and the 30s as a best-batch label claim. The number isn't the whole story: GG4 genetics, a myrcene-heavy profile and a fast onset make Gorilla Breath feel stronger than a fruit-forward strain at the same THC. Leafly reviewers call it "crazy strong," and a budtender on the same page warns it isn't for beginners.
Is Gorilla Breath stronger than Gorilla Glue? Not on paper — Weedmaps lists GG4 at 25–30% THC, in the same range. The difference is feel: Gorilla Breath trades some of GG4's sharp chem for a sweeter, earthier, more sedating finish.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Gorilla Breath batch against the 22–27% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Gorilla Breath vs Similar Strains
- vs Gorilla Glue #4: the Glue parent. GG4 is sharper — chem, pine and sour diesel — with a more cerebral, couch-melting stone. Gorilla Breath is sweeter and earthier, with chocolate and vanilla, and leans further indica.
- vs Mendo Breath: an OGKB sibling. Mendo Breath is vanilla-caramel dessert and very sleepy; Gorilla Breath adds GG4's gas and a giggly start. ThugPug's version of Gorilla Breath actually uses Mendo Breath as a parent.
- vs Chocolate Diesel: a GG4 ancestor with the same chocolate-and-fuel flavor but a much more energetic, sativa-style high.
- vs Super Glue and Strawberry Glue: other GG4 crosses. Strawberry Glue is the fruity, more functional take; Gorilla Breath is the heavier, earthier one.
- vs Mule Fuel: GMO × Lurch from ThugPug Genetics — the same breeder behind the other Gorilla Breath. Mule Fuel is gassier and skunkier, with garlicky funk instead of chocolate and vanilla, but lands the same way: indica-leaning, heavy and relaxing. It's our closest match on the shelf.
- vs Garlic Breath and Peanut Butter Breath: other "Breath" strains with savory-sweet noses and heavy, relaxing bodies.
Who Gorilla Breath Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: experienced smokers; gas and diesel fans who like a sweet finish; evening sessions with friends that wind down into a movie or bed; people who make or love rosin.
Poor fit: newcomers, anyone who needs to be productive afterward, and people sensitive to dizziness. For something lighter and fruitier, Dayglow Mousse is the brighter option on our shelf.
How to Use Gorilla Breath THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the cleanest way to taste the chocolate and vanilla under the gas. Around 350–380°F keeps the pine and sweet top notes; 390–410°F brings out the peppery fuel and the heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one small puff, then wait 15 minutes — the body builds after the giggles. Regular users usually find two or three hits plenty. Save the bigger sessions for evenings with nothing left to do. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud — not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety and stress: the top Leafly report, at about 37% of reviewers — though high doses can backfire in sensitive users.
- Appetite loss: about 18% on Leafly; AllBud also lists appetite loss and nausea.
- Low mood: about 16% of Leafly reviewers cite depression; AllBud lists it too.
- Headaches, fatigue and eye pressure: on AllBud's list, along with migraines.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — Leafly's most common negatives.
- Dizziness — also on Leafly's list; stand up slowly after a big session.
- Over-sedation — AllBud warns it can overwhelm even experienced users. Don't plan anything afterward.
- Anxiety at high doses — the flip side of a fast, potent onset, mostly in low-tolerance users.
Is Gorilla Breath good for sleep? At higher doses, often yes — reviewers report sleepy and hungry. At low doses it's more relaxed and giggly. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is It Real Gorilla Breath? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Ask which version. Humboldt Seed Organization's GG4 × OGKB is the common one; ThugPug's GG4 × Mendo Breath is a different plant. A good seller knows.
- Gas first, sweet second. Real Gorilla Breath leads with diesel and pine, then chocolate and vanilla. Candy-fruit flower is something else.
- Sticky, resinous buds with heavy trichome coverage — this is a Glue kid. Dry, leafy flower is a red flag.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 33%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- A proper cure. Hay or grass smell — or the "wet grass" note one Leafly reviewer complained about — means it was rushed.
- Name check. Gorilla Glue, Gorilla Cookies and Royal Gorilla are different strains.
Growing Gorilla Breath
Gorilla Breath is a feminized photoperiod strain that Weedmaps calls easy to grow indoors or out. Despite the indica heritage, it gets big.
- Flowering: 65–70 days indoors (about 67) per SeedFinder; Weedmaps says 63–70 days.
- Yield: 450–600 g/m² indoors and 2,500–3,500 g per plant outdoors per SeedFinder; growdiaries reports up to 600 g/m² with low-stress training.
- Height: 3–4 m outdoors per SeedFinder; Weedmaps says up to 13 feet. Indoors, a medium veg is recommended to keep it in check.
- Training: the breeder suggests topping and LST outdoors; growdiaries' best yields came with low-stress training.
- Outdoors: harvest around mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere.
- Resin: SeedFinder's breeder notes call resin production "way above average," which makes it a favorite for rosin and hash.
