Candy Fumez Strain: Zkittlez Candy With a Gas Tank
The Candy Fumez strain does exactly what the name says: candy first, fumes second. It's a cross of Zkittlez and Sherbanger from Bloom Seed Co, and it pairs Zkittlez's tropical, sugary fruit with Sherbanger's sour diesel and creamy berry. The high comes on as a quick euphoric lift, then settles into a heavy, relaxed body — most people treat it as an evening strain. It sits in the sweet-meets-gas corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also a competition strain. Candy Fumez took "Best of the Rest" at California's Transbay Challenge in 2023 and placed at the 2024 National Cannabis Championship — which is why it went from a seed-company release to a name on menus coast to coast in about two years. Below: the real lineage (and the one source that disagrees), what the potency numbers mean, the terpenes, how the high unfolds, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Candy Fumez's frosty buds.

- Type: Indica-leaning hybrid. AllBud lists it at about 60% indica, and GrowDiaries calls it "slightly Indica-leaning." Its effects — euphoric start, heavy body — match that.
- Ancestry: Zkittlez (the "Z") × Sherbanger. Sherbanger is Sunset Sherbet × Headbanger, and Headbanger brings Sour Diesel into the family tree — that's where the "fumez" comes from.
- Breeder: Bloom Seed Co, per Leafly, Weedmaps and Proper Cannabis. Leafly says Bloom worked with Boston Roots to improve the Z with Sherbanger's "shape, size, density, and bling."
- THC: 23–30% across sources; AllBud lists 27–30%.
- CBD: Negligible — under 0.2%. Strainpedia lists 0.5–1.2% CBG.
- Aliases: Fumez, Candy Fumes, Z Fumez and CFz.
Who actually bred Candy Fumez?
Most sources credit Bloom Seed Co. The complications come from the Sherbanger side. Sherbanger is a Boston Roots Seed Co strain, and Boston Roots sells its own Candy Fumez regular seeds. So you'll see some growers — Bountiful Farms, for one — credit Boston Roots as the breeder, and Leaf Nation credits both companies as co-creators. The cleanest reading: Bloom Seed Co made the cross using Boston Roots' Sherbanger, and both outfits have had the genetics in circulation.
The one source that disagrees on lineage
Pro Gro Cannabis, which ranks for this keyword, lists Candy Fumez as Sunset Sherbert × Pink Guava. Every other source we checked — Leafly, AllBud, Weedmaps, Proper Cannabis, GrowDiaries, Strainpedia and multiple growers — says Zkittlez × Sherbanger. Treat Pro Gro's listing as either a different cut sold under the same name or an error. Since Sherbanger itself descends from Sunset Sherbet, the confusion is understandable.
Why is it spelled "C&ndy Fumez" on some menus?
You'll find Candy Fumez listed as C&ndy Fumez, Ca*dy Fumez or Kandy Fumez on dispensary menus. That's the same strain. Several state cannabis markets restrict product names that could appeal to kids — "candy" is the obvious trigger — which is the most likely reason brands mangle the spelling. The genetics don't change with the asterisk.
Offspring
Leafly lists two Candy Fumez descendants: Nitro Fumez and Garlic Fumez. Neither is common in the hemp market yet.
Candy Fumez Terpene Profile
Sources agree on the big three — limonene, caryophyllene and linalool — but not on the order. Proper Cannabis lists limonene first; Pro Gro lists caryophyllene first; GrowDiaries marks limonene as dominant. Strainpedia gives tested ranges of limonene 0.6–1.2%, caryophyllene 0.4–0.8% and linalool 0.2–0.5%. Bountiful Farms' cut also shows alpha-pinene. Caryophyllene is worth knowing: a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Limonene — candy-citrus brightness, the Z side
Caryophyllene — pepper and gas, the Sherbanger side
Linalool — floral, calming finish
Pinene — a fresh, piney edge
Typical relative profile for Candy Fumez — limonene-led per Proper Cannabis, GrowDiaries and Strainpedia's ranges. Gassier cuts run caryophyllene-first.
- Limonene: The bright citrus-candy note that reads as Zkittlez on the nose, and a driver of the euphoric onset.
- Caryophyllene: Peppery and fuel-edged — it gives the exhale its diesel bite and is the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Linalool: Floral and lavender-like; it's commonly associated with the calm, sedating back half of the high.
- Pinene: A minor player in some cuts that adds a fresh, piney lift.
The candy isn't one terpene — it's Zkittlez's whole fruit chemistry. The fumes come from caryophyllene plus the Sour Diesel ancestry buried in Sherbanger.
Appearance
Candy Fumez buds are big and showy — the "bling" Bloom Seed Co bred for. AllBud describes fluffy, oversized, grape-shaped nugs in minty green with super-thin orange hairs and a coat of tiny, frosty white trichomes. Many cuts lean darker: Leafly reviewers describe flower that "looked dark purple," a trait that runs through both the Zkittlez and Sunset Sherbet sides of the family. Expect heavy frost either way — the strain is popular with rosin makers for a reason.
Aroma and Flavor
Open the jar and it's candy first: sweet, tropical, sugary fruit straight from Zkittlez. Give it a second and the fumes arrive — tart, sour diesel gas over an earthy kush base. Break a bud and the gas gets louder. On the inhale you get berry candy and zesty citrus; the exhale is creamy berry, pepper and fuel. AllBud's tags run berry, candy, citrus, lemon, sour, sugary and diesel; Leafly's reviewers say chemical, sweet and tropical, and one compares it to "those skittle sweets." Strainpedia notes a clean, sweet mint finish on some cuts. If a "Candy Fumez" smells like candy and nothing else, the gas side didn't come through.
Recreational Effects
Candy Fumez opens with a fast, sharp mental lift and then lands in deep physical relaxation. Leafly sums its effects up as "mostly calming"; AllBud describes a slow-building euphoria, a buzzy body high and, at higher doses, couchlock. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.7 rating across 59 reviews, reviewers most often report:
- Euphoric: the headline effect — a quick, giddy mood lift.
- Relaxed: a heavy, warm body calm that deepens over the session.
- Focused and creative: in the first stretch, before the body takes over.
- Tingly: GrowDiaries growers and Leafly reviewers both mention a tingly body feel.
- Sleepy: Proper Cannabis calls it "euphoric but sleepy"; Pro Gro lists sedative and "dream state."
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5 minutes: a quick, giddy head change — some reviewers say it's immediate.
- 15–60 minutes: the peak — happy, chatty, with a warm body buzz building underneath.
- 1–3 hours: the body side wins. At higher doses, expect the couch; one AllBud reviewer calls it a "creeper."
That creeping body load is the thing to respect. Wait between hits — the second half of the high is heavier than the first.

A wooden one-hitter and brass dugout — the right-sized dose for a strain whose body high creeps up.

How Strong Is Candy Fumez?
Candy Fumez is a strong strain by any modern measure. The numbers vary by source and cut:
- AllBud: 27–30% THC on average.
- GrowDiaries: 27–30%, with 28% as its headline figure.
- Pro Gro Cannabis: 25–29%.
- Strainpedia: 23–28% THC as a typical testing range.
- Leafly: no lab figure listed; one reviewer reports a 23% batch.
Growers lean into the potency too — Bountiful Farms' menu tells buyers "DON'T let the THC% fool you." That's fair: the heavy body load comes as much from the terpene mix as from the THC number. A 24% Candy Fumez with a loud terp profile can feel stronger than a 30% batch with weak terps.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Candy Fumez batch against the 23–30% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Candy Fumez Awards
- Transbay Challenge V (October 2023, Los Angeles): "Best of the Rest" at the statewide finals, entered by California grower Greendawg, per Leafly.
- 2024 National Cannabis Championship: first place as Virginia State Champion and second place in Terpenes, per Leaf Nation, which also named it its November 2023 Strain of the Month.
Candy Fumez vs Similar Strains
- vs Zkittlez: the candy parent. Zkittlez is sweeter and more mellow; Candy Fumez adds gas, frost and a heavier body.
- vs Sherbanger: the gas parent — blueberry-muffin cream and sour diesel. Candy Fumez is fruitier and more candy-forward.
- vs Runtz and Cosmic Runtz: cousins through Zkittlez. Runtz family strains share the candy-fruit nose and euphoric-to-relaxed arc but carry less fuel. Cosmic Runtz is our closest in-stock match on the sweet side.
- vs Candy Gas: a different cross chasing the same idea — sweet candy over gas. Worth trying side by side.
- vs Sunset Sherbet and Rainbow Sherbet: the Sherb family behind Sherbanger. Creamier and less gassy than Candy Fumez.
Who Candy Fumez Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: experienced smokers who want a flavor-first strain that still hits hard; evening sessions and winding down; fans of both candy strains and gas strains who don't want to pick.
Poor fit: beginners, anyone who needs to be productive afterward, or anyone prone to THC anxiety — "anxious" and "paranoid" show up among its reported negatives. If you want the candy without the knockout, Dayglow Mousse is a lighter place to start on our shelf.
How to Use Candy Fumez THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the candy under the gas. Around 350–375°F keeps the citrus and tropical fruit; 390–410°F brings up the pepper, gas and heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one small hit — a one-hitter is ideal — then wait 15–30 minutes. The body high builds after the first rush. Regular users usually find two or three hits gets the full arc. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 35% of reviewers) — though "anxious" is also among its listed negatives, so dose matters.
- Low mood: about 29% of Leafly reviewers, in line with the euphoric onset.
- Stress: about 24% of Leafly reviewers.
- Aches and trouble sleeping: AllBud's consumer-reported list includes chronic pain, cramps, muscle spasms and insomnia, consistent with the heavy body finish.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly and GrowDiaries.
- Anxiety, paranoia or dizziness — listed negatives, mostly at high doses or low tolerance.
- Couchlock and heavy sleepiness — the body high can creep; don't plan anything demanding after.
- Munchies — reviewers mention them regularly.
Is Candy Fumez good for sleep? Many people use it that way — Proper Cannabis calls it "euphoric but sleepy." Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Candy Fumez Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Candy and gas. A real Candy Fumez has both. All candy and no fuel suggests a weak cut or a different strain.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Ask about the lineage. If the seller says Sunset Sherbert × Pink Guava, it isn't the Bloom Seed Co cut.
- Frost and size — big, frosty, colorful buds are the whole point of this cross.
- A proper cure — hay or grass smell kills the candy first.
Growing Candy Fumez
Candy Fumez is a moderate-difficulty plant. GrowDiaries describes it as bushy with dense buds; Strainpedia notes phenotypes vary between compact, Zkittlez-like plants and taller, Sherbanger-like ones.
- Flowering: about 8–9 weeks indoors; Strainpedia suggests harvesting around day 60 as trichomes turn from milky to amber.
- Yield: moderate to high, per Strainpedia.
- Height: medium. Top early and use low-stress training to even out the canopy.
- Humidity: keep late-flower humidity under about 45% — dense, resin-heavy buds are prone to mold.
- Outdoors: harvest around mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere, per GrowDiaries.
- Seeds: Bloom Seed Co, and Boston Roots Seed Co's Candy Fumez regular seeds.
Is Candy Fumez THCA Flower Legal?

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Candy Fumez indica or sativa?
Candy Fumez is an indica-leaning hybrid. AllBud lists it at about 60% indica, and its effects — a quick euphoric lift followed by a heavy, relaxed body — fit that.
What is Candy Fumez a cross of?
Zkittlez × Sherbanger. Sherbanger is Sunset Sherbet × Headbanger. One source, Pro Gro Cannabis, lists Sunset Sherbert × Pink Guava instead, but every other major source says Zkittlez × Sherbanger.
Who bred Candy Fumez?
Bloom Seed Co, per Leafly, Weedmaps and Proper Cannabis, using Boston Roots' Sherbanger. Some growers credit Boston Roots, which also sells Candy Fumez seeds.
How strong is Candy Fumez?
Most sources put it at 23–30% THC, with AllBud and GrowDiaries listing 27–30%. The body high builds after the first rush, so start small.
What does Candy Fumez taste like?
Sweet tropical and berry candy with zesty citrus up front, then sour diesel gas, pepper and a creamy berry finish.
What are the effects of Candy Fumez?
Euphoric and happy at first, then deeply relaxed and often sleepy. Leafly reviewers also report focus and creativity early on, and AllBud notes possible couchlock at higher doses.
Is Candy Fumez good for sleep?

Is Candy Fumez good for anxiety?
It's mixed. About 35% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety, but "anxious" is also among its listed negatives. Low doses are the safer approach.
Why is Candy Fumez spelled C&ndy Fumez?
It's the same strain. Some state markets restrict product names that could appeal to kids, which is the most likely reason brands list it as C&ndy Fumez, Ca*dy Fumez or Kandy Fumez.
Did Candy Fumez win any awards?
Yes. It took "Best of the Rest" at the Transbay Challenge statewide finals in Los Angeles in October 2023, and placed first as Virginia State Champion and second in Terpenes at the 2024 National Cannabis Championship.
How long does Candy Fumez take to flower?
About 8–9 weeks indoors, with outdoor harvests around mid-October. Keep late-flower humidity low — the dense buds are mold-prone.
