Galactic Warheads Strain

Galactic Warheads Strain: Sour-Lemon Candy With a Big Hit

The Galactic Warheads strain — also sold as Galactic Warhead and Galactic Warheadz — is a newer high-THC hybrid that has spread across dispensary menus from New York to Michigan and New Jersey. It smells like sour lemon candy with a tropical, gassy edge, tests high (AllBud lists 20–30% THC), and delivers a fast, euphoric, talkative high that eases into a relaxed body. It sits in the bright, citrus-candy corner of our THCA flower collection.

Two things trip people up. First, it is not the same strain as Warheads — the older, sativa-leaning Kaboom × Sour Pez cut — even though they share a candy name. Second, there's no single agreed family tree: the major sources list four different crosses. Below: which Galactic Warheads is which, how it compares to plain Warheads, how strong it is, how the high unfolds, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.

A 360° look at Galactic Warheads's frosty buds.

Galactic Warheads Strain Genetics & Lineage

Galactic Warheads has one name and several pedigrees. Here is what each source actually says:

  • Colombian Cookies × Amnesia Haze (most cited): the cross listed by its best-known grower, Cream of the Crop Gardens, and by AllBud. SeedFinder credits Cream of the Crop Seeds and spells "Colombian Cookies" out as Colombian Gold × Girl Scout Cookies, crossed to Amnesia Haze.
  • Gelato 41 × Runtz: a clone-only cut credited to a collaboration between Craft Farmer and Dank Mob, per the clone seller Mass Hydro and GrowDiaries. The brand Niche lists the same parents on Weedmaps.
  • Sour Diesel × Zkittlez: the lineage on Leafly, which also lists a descendant called Subzero Warheads.
  • Warhead × Galactic Gas: mentioned by one hemp retailer's blog as an alternate version. We couldn't find a breeder or database that confirms it.

Even single pages disagree with themselves — Niche's Weedmaps listing gives Gelato 41 × Runtz in the description and Colombian Cookies × Amnesia Haze in the strain panel, and Freedom Road's listing calls its genetics "mysterious." The practical takeaway: what's in the jar depends on who grew it. A Cream of the Crop cut leans citrus-haze; a Craft Farmer × Dank Mob cut leans sweeter, Runtz-style candy and fuel.

  • Type: Hybrid. AllBud says 50% sativa / 50% indica; Leafly says sativa-leaning, about 65/35. One retailer blog claims about 80% indica, which no database supports.
  • THC: AllBud 20–30%; Leafly 28%, with a typical 24–33% range. Retail labels we found: 24.21% (Milkweed, New York) and 26.5% (Niche).
  • CBD: Negligible — no database lists a meaningful amount.
  • Aliases: Galactic Warhead, Galactic Warheadz.

Galactic Warheads vs Warheads: what's the relationship?

Mostly a name. Our Warheads strain guide covers the original: Nerds Genetics' Kaboom × Sour Pez, a sativa-leaning, myrcene-led strain Leafly lists at 18% THC. None of the documented Galactic Warheads lineages use Kaboom or Sour Pez. The only genetic overlap is indirect: Sour Pez carries Sour Diesel, and Leafly's Galactic Warhead is half Sour Diesel. The one claim that makes Warhead a direct parent (Warhead × Galactic Gas) is unconfirmed.

  • Potency: Galactic Warheads is the stronger of the two on paper — roughly 20–30% vs Warheads' 15–24%.
  • Flavor: both are sour-lemon candy. Warheads stays sharper and more lemon-sour with an earthy, woody finish; Galactic Warheads adds tropical fruit and a louder diesel exhale.
  • Effects: Warheads is a fast, energizing wake-and-bake sativa; Galactic Warheads starts upbeat and chatty but settles into more body relaxation.
  • Terpenes: Warheads is myrcene-led on Leafly; Galactic Warheads is limonene-led on nearly every source.

Galactic Warheads Terpene Profile

Almost every source agrees on the lead: limonene, the citrus terpene behind the lemon-candy nose. Cream of the Crop calls it dominant; Leafly lists limonene, caryophyllene and terpinolene; SeedFinder and a Milkweed retail batch list limonene, caryophyllene and nerolidol. One Niche batch was led by myrcene, with limonene, caryophyllene and linalool — a reminder that different cuts under this name test differently.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Limonene — sour lemon candy, mood lift

Caryophyllene — pepper, diesel, body calm

Terpinolene — tropical, bright, energetic

Myrcene — earthy fruit, relaxed finish

Typical relative profile for Galactic Warheads — limonene-led across Leafly, SeedFinder and retail labels. Nerolidol (woody, floral) shows up on some batches; Runtz-line cuts can run more myrcene.

  • Limonene: the sour-lemon, citrus-candy core and the main driver of the quick mood lift.
  • Caryophyllene: peppery spice and part of the diesel exhale; the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
  • Terpinolene: listed by Leafly; adds the tropical, fresh, slightly piney brightness behind the lemon.
  • Myrcene: earthy fruit and the relaxed body that arrives later in the session.
  • Nerolidol: a woody, floral terpene listed by SeedFinder and on a Milkweed batch; less common in candy strains, and part of why some jars read slightly earthy.

Appearance

AllBud describes large, fluffy, spade-shaped nugs in bright neon green with deep purple undertones, thick orange hairs and chunky golden-white trichomes. The Craft Farmer × Dank Mob clone is described by its seller as deep green with magenta highlights, and growers note compact colas. Either way, expect a heavy frost — the strain's resin is one reason it's popular with hash and rosin makers.

Aroma and Flavor

Crack a jar and the first hit is sour lemon candy — the reason for the name. Behind it: tropical fruit, citrus zest, and a gassy, skunky diesel funk that gets louder when you break a bud. AllBud lists citrus, diesel, earthy, gas, skunky, sour and spicy aromas; Leafly's top flavors are diesel, lemon and citrus.

The inhale is sweet-tart lemon and tropical candy; the exhale turns to diesel, pepper and a little earth. The Cream of the Crop cut is described as tangy citrus with earthy undertones and a touch of haze. Runtz-line cuts lean sweeter and fruitier — Niche describes tart candy, ripe tropical fruit and gassy diesel.

Recreational Effects

Galactic Warheads hits quickly. The common thread across sources is an upbeat, outgoing start that turns into body relaxation. Cream of the Crop says the high "hits hard," with outgoing energy that's "perfect for social settings." The most-reported effects:

  • Euphoric: a fast mood lift, listed by AllBud, Leafly and growers.
  • Talkative and social: Leafly lists talkative; a Milkweed listing says users feel "chatty, happy, and creative."
  • Energetic and creative: Leafly calls the effects "mostly energizing."
  • Relaxed: the body side — AllBud's description calls the high "stoney," and growers describe a "smooth, full-body calm."

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First few minutes: a quick, bright head change — clear, euphoric, upbeat.
  • 15–60 minutes: the peak — chatty, social and creative, with the body starting to loosen.
  • 1–3 hours: a gradual slide into relaxation. At higher doses it gets heavy and stoney; AllBud warns the high can make you feel out of touch.

That arc makes it a better late-afternoon or social strain than a first-thing-in-the-morning one.

How Strong Is Galactic Warheads?

Strong. It's a high-THC strain in every source we checked:

  • AllBud: 20–30% THC.
  • Leafly: 28%, with a typical 24–33% range — rated higher than average.
  • Retail labels: 24.21% on a Milkweed batch in New York; 26.5% on a Niche batch.

That puts it well above plain Warheads (Leafly lists 18%). It's not a beginner strain: the fast onset makes the first hit easy to judge, but the body weight builds after the euphoria, and too much can tip into anxiety.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Galactic Warheads batch against the 20–30% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Galactic Warheads vs Similar Strains

  • vs Warheads: the older, sativa-leaning sour-candy strain. Warheads is lighter, more energizing and myrcene-led; Galactic Warheads is stronger, more limonene-forward and ends more relaxed.
  • vs Runtz and Zkittlez: the candy strains in its family tree. Zkittlez is mixed fruit candy; Runtz is creamier. Galactic Warheads swaps that for sour lemon and diesel.
  • vs Amnesia Haze: the citrus-haze parent of the Cream of the Crop cut — more cerebral and less candy.
  • vs Super Lemon Haze and Lemon Haze: the classic lemon sativas. Brighter and more energizing, with less body.
  • vs Dayglow Mousse: our closest match in stock. It's not the same genetics — Dayglow Mousse is a sativa-leaning, limonene-led citrus hybrid — but it shares the bright citrus nose and the upbeat lift.

Who Galactic Warheads Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: experienced smokers who like sour citrus candy and gas, afternoon social plans, creative sessions, and anyone who wants a high that starts upbeat and ends relaxed.

Poor fit: beginners, anyone prone to THC anxiety, and people looking for a clean, all-day sativa — the body weight shows up later. For something sweeter and more candy-forward on our shelf, try Cosmic Runtz.

How to Use Galactic Warheads THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the lemon candy before the diesel takes over. Around 350–380°F keeps the limonene bright; 390–410°F brings out the peppery, relaxing side.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one small puff, then wait 15 minutes — this is a high-THC strain. Regular users usually find two or three hits gives the full arc from chatty to relaxed. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers and databases report, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Stress and low mood: Leafly's handful of reviewers mention stress and depression most; AllBud lists both.
  • Fatigue: reported by Leafly reviewers, consistent with the energetic start.
  • Aches, headaches and nausea: AllBud lists chronic pain, headaches, migraines and nausea among reported uses.
  • Appetite: AllBud mentions appetite loss as a reported use.

Leafly's sample is very small (three ratings), so treat these as anecdotes.

For a plain-language primer on how terpenes are thought to shape these effects, see Project CBD on terpenes. Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing on this page is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you take prescription medication or have a health condition, talk to your doctor before using any cannabis product.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints, listed by GrowDiaries.
  • Anxiety — listed as a negative by growers and the main risk at high doses.
  • Couch-lock or disorientation — AllBud notes the heavy, stoney side at higher doses.

Is Galactic Warheads good for sleep? Not at a low dose — it starts upbeat. A larger evening dose can get heavy. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Galactic Warheads Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • Ask whose cut it is. Cream of the Crop (Colombian Cookies × Amnesia Haze) and Craft Farmer × Dank Mob (Gelato 41 × Runtz) are different plants under the same name. A good seller knows which one they have.
  • Don't confuse it with Warheads. If the label just says "Warheads" or "Warheadz," it's probably the older Kaboom × Sour Pez strain.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Sour lemon candy on the nose. If it smells only earthy or hay-like, it's either a different cut or a poor cure.
  • Frost and color: heavy, glassy trichomes, orange hairs, and purple or magenta hints on many cuts.

Growing Galactic Warheads

Galactic Warheads is mostly grown from clones; SeedFinder notes that the Cream of the Crop version is (or was) clone-only, though feminized seed has also been listed. Mass Hydro sells the Craft Farmer × Dank Mob cut as a clone.

  • Flowering: about 8–9 weeks (56–63 days) indoors, per GrowDiaries and Mass Hydro.
  • Structure: medium height with a moderate stretch and compact colas — a good fit for tents, topping and SCROG.
  • Yield: GrowDiaries describes medium indoor yields; outdoor plants can produce more. No breeder has published firm numbers.
  • Resin: heavy trichome production that suits dry sift, bubble hash and rosin.
  • Environment: keep the humidity low in late flower — dense, resinous colas need good airflow to avoid mold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Galactic Warheads strain?

Galactic Warheads is a high-THC hybrid named after the sour candy. It smells like sour lemon and tropical candy with diesel underneath, and it delivers a fast, euphoric, chatty high that settles into body relaxation. Its lineage is disputed: Cream of the Crop lists Colombian Cookies × Amnesia Haze, the Craft Farmer × Dank Mob cut is Gelato 41 × Runtz, and Leafly lists Sour Diesel × Zkittlez.

Is Galactic Warheads the same as Warheads?

No. Warheads is an older, sativa-leaning strain usually traced to Nerds Genetics' Kaboom × Sour Pez, at around 15–24% THC. Galactic Warheads is a separate, stronger, limonene-led strain with different documented parents. They share a candy name and a sour-citrus flavor, not verified genetics.

Is Galactic Warheads indica or sativa?

It's a hybrid. AllBud lists it 50/50 and Leafly calls it sativa-leaning, about 65% sativa. In practice it starts upbeat and social, then turns relaxed.

Is Warheads a sativa or indica?

The original Warheads strain is sativa-leaning — AllBud lists it 65% sativa — and it's known for a fast, energizing daytime high. Galactic Warheads is the more balanced, heavier-finishing hybrid.

Is Galactic Warheads a good strain?

For experienced consumers who like sour citrus candy and gas, yes. It's well reviewed (AllBud: 4.3 from 17 votes), very potent, and very aromatic. It's too strong for most beginners.

How strong is Galactic Warheads?

Strong. AllBud lists 20–30% THC and Leafly 28% (24–33% typical). Retail batches we found tested at 24.21% and 26.5%. Start with one small puff.

What are the terpene notes of Galactic Warheads?

Limonene leads, giving the sour-lemon candy note. Caryophyllene adds pepper and diesel, and some batches show terpinolene (tropical, bright), nerolidol (woody, floral) or myrcene (earthy fruit).

What does Galactic Warheads taste like?

Sweet-tart lemon and tropical candy on the inhale, then diesel, pepper and a little earth on the exhale. Runtz-line cuts taste sweeter; the Amnesia Haze cut is more tangy and hazy.

Is Galactic Warheads good for daytime or nighttime?

Afternoon and early evening suit it best. The start is upbeat and social, but the body relaxation that follows makes it less ideal first thing in the morning.

Is Galactic Warheads good for beginners?

Not really. It tests high and can tip into anxiety or couch-lock at larger doses. If you try it, take one small hit and wait 15 minutes.

Is Galactic Warheads good for anxiety?

It's mixed. Some consumers report stress relief, but anxiety is also listed as a negative, especially at high doses. Low doses are the safer approach — and talk to your doctor if anxiety is a medical concern.

How long does Galactic Warheads take to flower?

About 8–9 weeks (56–63 days) indoors. It's mostly grown from clones, with a moderate stretch and compact, resinous colas.

Where can I buy Galactic Warheads THCA flower online?

Galactic Warheads isn't in the Diesel Hemp shop right now. The closest match is Dayglow Mousse THCA Flower — a limonene-led citrus hybrid with a bright nose and an upbeat lift, from $29, third-party lab tested, with free shipping over $75. For a sweeter candy profile, try Cosmic Runtz.
