Legend OG Strain: The Clone-Only OG Built for Bedtime
The Legend OG strain is an indica-dominant, clone-only cut of OG Kush — the heavier, sleepier side of the OG family. It smells like pungent gas, pine and earthy kush with a tart, floral edge, tests in the low-to-mid 20s for THC, and finishes with a sleepy, hungry body that most people save for the end of the day. It's also a breeder's plant: Colorado's Cannarado crossed it with GMO Cookies to make Fatso, and SeedFinder lists dozens of other strains built on it. It fits the gassy, nighttime corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also a strain with a fuzzy paper trail. Leafly calls it OG Kush × an unknown strain, AllBud and Proper Cannabis call it a clone-only OG Kush descendant, and THC Design credits Swamp Boys Seeds. Below: what's actually documented, how the high unfolds, what the potency numbers mean, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to tell a real Legend from a lookalike.
A 360° look at Legend OG's frosty buds.

Legend OG Strain Genetics & Lineage
- Type: Indica-dominant. Leafly lists it as an indica; AllBud and SeedFinder both say about 70% indica / 30% sativa.
- Ancestry: An OG Kush phenotype kept alive as a clone. SeedFinder traces OG Kush itself to an unknown Emerald Triangle plant crossed with Hindu Kush, and admits Legend OG's "exact genetic background is a bit of a mystery."
- Breeder: Disputed — see below.
- THC: Leafly 23%; AllBud 24% (its description cites a 24.7% average); SeedFinder 24%; SeedsHereNow 18–25%.
- CBD and minor cannabinoids: Negligible CBD — SeedFinder lists about 0.5%. Leafly lists around 1% CBG.
- Aliases: Legend, Legend OG Kush; seed sellers sometimes spell it "Legand OG."
Who bred Legend OG?
Nobody has a clean answer, and the sources split three ways:
- Swamp Boys Seeds: THC Design describes Legend OG as an "Indica-dominant OG Kush pheno, originally bred by Swamp Boys Seeds," and SeedFinder carries a Swamp Boys listing. Swamp Boys certainly worked the plant — their Hells Bells is Legend OG × GMO/TK Skunk.
- Clone only: AllBud calls it a "clone-only descendant of OG Kush," Proper Cannabis lists the breeder simply as "Clone Only," and SeedFinder keeps a second listing under Clone Only Strains, presuming it's an OG Kush phenotype.
- OG Kush × unknown: Leafly's description says it was made "by crossing OG Kush with an unknown strain." One Leafly reviewer guesses Tangie, but that's speculation.
The most defensible reading: Legend OG is an OG Kush cut that circulated as a clone, and Swamp Boys is the outfit most associated with breeding from it. Seed versions exist — SeedsHereNow sells an Elite Clone Seed Co Legend OG S1 and says plainly that Elite Clone isn't the original breeder — so a seed-grown "Legend OG" may not match the clone.
Legend OG's offspring
Legend OG matters as much for what it made as for what it is. SeedFinder counts 36 direct descendants. The best known:
- Fatso: GMO Cookies × Legend OG from Colorado breeder Cannarado, per Leafly. GMO Cookies is the same GMO that sits behind Mule Fuel.
- Hells Bells: Legend OG × GMO/TK Skunk, Swamp Boys Seeds.
- Iron Mic: Legend OG × MAC, SoCal Seed Vault — the same MAC known for its frost.
- I-95 (Top Dawg Seeds), Gushers OG (Cannarado) and Malibu Mirage, listed by SeedFinder and Leafly.
Don't confuse it with Legend of Nigeria (an unrelated strain) or "Legendary OG," a name several sellers use for different products.
Legend OG Terpene Profile
Leafly lists myrcene as Legend OG's most abundant terpene, followed by limonene and caryophyllene, and Proper Cannabis reports the same three. That's the classic OG trio — musky earth, citrus and pepper — and the myrcene lead is a big part of why Legend OG lands heavier than brighter, limonene-led OG cuts. Grow guides add pinene, linalool and humulene as supporting notes; SeedFinder's lavender descriptor fits the linalool. Caryophyllene stands out on its own — a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Myrcene — earthy, musky, the sleepy body
Limonene — tart citrus top note
Caryophyllene — pepper, gas, the OG bite
Pinene — pine sap, a fresh edge
Typical relative profile for Legend OG — myrcene-led per Leafly. Exact ratios vary by grower and cure.
- Myrcene: Earthy, musky and herbal. It's the dominant terpene and the one most associated with heavy, relaxed, sleepy strains.
- Limonene: The tart, citrusy top note AllBud's reviewers pick up, and part of the brief mood lift at the start.
- Caryophyllene: Peppery and fuel-edged — the OG Kush bite — and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Pinene: Pine sap and a cool, fresh edge that cuts through the gas.
The "floral" in Leafly's description and the "lavender" in SeedFinder's are most likely linalool at low levels — a quiet note under the OG gas.
Appearance
Legend OG looks like a well-grown OG: dense, knobby, pinecone-shaped buds in bright neon to lime green, threaded with long, thin orange pistils and a coat of golden-tinged trichomes. AllBud describes "knobby" bright green nugs with tiny orange hairs; SeedFinder's Swamp Boys listing calls them dense and pinecone-shaped; SeedsHereNow notes darker green cuts with purple accents. Well-cured flower is sticky and breaks apart with a burst of gas.
Aroma and Flavor
Legend OG's nose depends a little on who's describing it, but the throughline is pungent OG gas. Leafly calls it "a tart, floral aroma and a pungent flavor," with chemical, woody and pungent as its top flavors. AllBud leans brighter — citrus, earthy, fruity, pine and pungent, with "spicy pine and sweet citrus" that almost burn the nose, and a sweet, smooth exhale. THC Design describes "a dank, yet sweet gassy flavor and an earthy finish"; Proper Cannabis lists earth, gas and floral on the nose and sweet, sour and earthy on the tongue. SeedFinder adds fuel and lavender.
Put together: open the jar and you get gas and pine first, a tart citrus edge, then earthy kush. The inhale is sweet and a little sour; the exhale is woody, peppery fuel that hangs around. Grind it and the room knows.
Recreational Effects
Legend OG is a nighttime OG. On Leafly, where it holds a 4.6-star average across 137 reviews, the top reported effects are:
- Sleepy: the headline effect. Leafly says its "sleepy qualities make it an ideal strain to enjoy before bedtime."
- Relaxed: a heavy, full-body calm that Leafly says "elevate[s] the mind while soothing aches and pains throughout the body."
- Hungry: AllBud flags strong munchies too — plan snacks.
- Euphoric and happy: AllBud describes a mood boost up front with no change in energy or motivation; Proper Cannabis lists happy alongside relaxed and sedated.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a mild cerebral lift — SeedFinder calls the start "mild" and cerebral; AllBud a euphoric mood boost.
- 15–60 minutes: the body arrives. Heavy limbs, a calm mind, and the munchies.
- 1–3 hours: a long, lazy tail that AllBud says can turn into deep sleep.
Low doses keep it a couch-and-movie strain; bigger ones make it a nightcap.

How Strong Is Legend OG? Which OG Strain Is the Most Powerful?
Legend OG is solidly potent without being a record-chaser. The published numbers cluster in the low-to-mid 20s:
- Leafly: 23% THC, about 1% CBG.
- AllBud: 24%, with a 24.7% average in its description and user-reported batches from 18.6% to 28%.
- SeedFinder (Swamp Boys listing): 24% THC, 0.5% CBD.
- SeedsHereNow: roughly 18–25%.
One AllBud review mentions a 38% product, but it was sold as "Legendary OMG" — a different product, not Legend OG flower. Treat anything far outside the 18–28% range with suspicion unless the COA backs it up.
Which OG strain is the most powerful? No single OG holds that title — potency varies more by grower, batch and cure than by name. Legend OG's reputation is about how it feels: the myrcene-heavy terpene profile makes a mid-20s batch land harder and sleepier than the number suggests.
What makes Legend OG so popular? Three things: a reliable, classic OG gas nose; a dependable nighttime effect; and its value as breeding stock — Fatso, Hells Bells and Iron Mic all trace back to it.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Legend OG batch against the 18–28% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Legend OG vs Similar Strains
- vs OG Kush: the source plant. Legend OG is a heavier, sleepier cut with a myrcene lead, where classic OG Kush is brighter lemon-pine-fuel.
- vs Ghost OG: another clone-only OG Kush cut. Ghost OG is more lemon-lime and starts more social; Legend OG goes to bed sooner.
- vs Tahoe OG and SFV OG: sibling OG cuts. Tahoe is the closest in sleepiness; SFV is earthier and a little more functional.
- vs Fire OG and Skywalker OG: other OG Kush descendants. Fire OG is sharper lemon-fuel; Skywalker is sweeter and just as sedating.
- vs Mule Fuel: not an OG — GMO Cookies × Lurch — but a cousin in spirit: GMO Cookies is the same plant Cannarado crossed with Legend OG to make Fatso. Mule Fuel trades lemon-pine for diesel, chemical and garlicky funk, but matches Legend OG's heavy, sleepy, indica-leaning landing. It's our closest match on the shelf.
- vs Permanent Marker: a modern (Biscotti × Sherb Bx) × Jealousy hybrid with a chemical-gas nose. It matches Legend OG on potency and evening body, not on flavor.
Who Legend OG Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: OG fans; people who want a dependable nighttime strain; experienced smokers who like pungent gas and pine; anyone whose evening plan is a movie, a meal and bed.
Poor fit: daytime use, anyone who needs to stay productive, and people who dislike the munchies. For something brighter and more daytime, Dayglow Mousse is the lighter option on our shelf.
How to Use Legend OG THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the pine and tart citrus under the gas. Around 350–380°F keeps the brighter top notes; 390–410°F brings out the heavier, peppery, sedating side.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one small puff, then wait a full 15–20 minutes — the body arrives after the head. Regular users usually find two or three hits enough, and it's best taken an hour or so before bed. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and AllBud, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Insomnia: the most-cited reason in Leafly reviews (about 36%), consistent with its sleepy headline effect.
- Pain: about 33% of Leafly reviewers; AllBud's listings add chronic pain, migraines and muscle spasms.
- Stress: about 33% of Leafly reviewers.
- Appetite and nausea: AllBud lists both, in line with the strong munchies.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — Leafly's most common negatives.
- Dizziness — also on Leafly's list, usually from standing up fast or overdoing it.
- Heavy sedation and low motivation — AllBud notes strong laziness late in the high. Don't plan anything important afterward.
- Getting caught off guard — the body builds after the head, so redosing too fast overshoots.
Is Legend OG good for sleep? For many people, yes — that's what it's known for. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is It Real Legend OG? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Ask: clone or seed? The original Legend is a clone-only cut. Seed lines (like Elite Clone's S1) are close relatives and may smell different.
- Check the name. Legend of Nigeria and "Legendary" products are different strains.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Gas and pine first. Real Legend OG is pungent OG fuel with a tart edge. Sweet candy or fruit-forward flower is something else.
- Dense, knobby, frosty buds with resin on the sugar leaves — not fluffy or leafy flower.
- A proper cure — sticky but not wet; hay or grass smell means it was rushed.
Growing Legend OG
Legend OG grows like the OG it is — rewarding but fussy. SeedsHereNow rates it moderate difficulty; the OG family's stretch, appetite and mildew risk are the usual challenges.
- Flowering: about 63 days per SeedFinder's Swamp Boys listing (8–10 weeks in its grow notes); SeedsHereNow says 63–70 days.
- Yield: SeedFinder's listing cites 13–18 oz/m² indoors under ideal conditions; SeedsHereNow calls it "moderate."
- Height and stretch: OG-style — lanky in veg, with a big stretch after the flip. Top, LST or trellis early to keep an even canopy.
- Climate: warm and dry with strong airflow. Keep humidity low late in flower to protect the dense buds from mold.
- Feeding: OG lines often show calcium and magnesium sensitivity under strong lights — watch the new growth.
- Outdoors: harvest around early to mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere.
- Clones vs seeds: the true cut circulates as clones; feminized seed versions exist from several sellers.
