Strawberry Lemonade Strain

Strawberry Lemonade Strain: Pink Lemonade in a Jar

The Strawberry Lemonade strain is a sativa-leaning hybrid that smells and tastes almost exactly like its name: ripe strawberry and tangy lemon up front, with a skunky, hashy base underneath. Barney's Farm sells it as a potent sativa-leaning "Strawberry" crossed with Lemon OG; Leafly names the strawberry parent as Strawberry Cough. Users report an energetic, giggly, uplifted high that eases into a relaxed body, and potency is usually around 20% THC. It belongs to the sweet-fruit corner of our THCA flower collection.

It's also messier than most strain pages admit. There are at least two different plants sold as Strawberry Lemonade — the Barney's Farm seed line and a clone-only Cannabiotix cut with entirely different parents — plus a "Mike's Strawberry Lemonade" that may or may not be the same thing. And because "strawberry lemonade" is one of the most popular flavor names in cannabis, half the search results are vape carts and drinks, not flower. Below: who actually bred it, how the versions differ, the terpene profile, how the high unfolds, how strong it really is, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.

Strawberry Lemonade Strain Genetics & Lineage

  • Type: Hybrid, usually described as sativa-leaning. Leafly calls it sativa-dominant and Zamnesia's Barney's Farm listing gives 60% sativa / 40% indica — but AllBud lists 50/50 and SeedFinder's basic data says "mostly indica." The reported effects (energetic, giggly, uplifted) read sativa.
  • Ancestry (Barney's Farm): a "highly potent & mostly sativa Strawberry" × Lemon OG, per the breeder description on SeedFinder. The breeder never names the strawberry cut; SeedFinder lists it as "probably Unknown Strain (Strawberry)."
  • Ancestry (Leafly and AllBud): Strawberry Cough × Lemon OG — and both sites hedge it, calling the cross "supposed" or "unconfirmed." Leafwell names the lemon parent as Sour Lemon OG instead.
  • Ancestry (Cannabiotix): a different plant entirely — Northern Lights #5 × Strawberry Cough (phenotype #3), held exclusively by the California grower Cannabiotix (CBX), per its GrowDiaries listing.
  • THC: Leafly 20%; AllBud 16–22%; Leafwell 18–28%; Barney's Farm "over 20%"; Cannabiotix lists batches at 27–31%.
  • CBD: Negligible — Leafly lists 0%.
  • Aliases: Leafly lists "Mike's Strawberry Lemonade" as an alias — but AllBud treats Mike's Strawberry Lemonade as a separate strain (Lemon Tree × Strawberries and Cream, 27–33% THC). Treat that name as its own thing unless the seller can show the genetics.
  • Offspring: SeedFinder lists seven descendants, including Whipped Lemons, PineRose and Toxic Strawberry, plus a Barney's Farm Strawberry Lemonade F2.

Barney's Farm vs Cannabiotix: two Strawberry Lemonades

Most of what you read about Strawberry Lemonade describes the Barney's Farm version — the Amsterdam seed company's feminized line, which is why you can buy the seeds almost anywhere. It's the one with the 20%-ish THC, the 60–70 day flower and the massive-yield claims.

The Cannabiotix version is the one with the trophy. High Times' results for the 2016 Medical Cannabis Cup Top 5 Sativa Flowers list "Strawberry Lemonade from Cannabiotix" in first place. CBX describes its cut as Northern Lights #5 × Strawberry Cough #3 — no Lemon OG at all — with strawberry and lemon-zest aromas and batches testing in the high 20s to low 30s. It's clone-only, so if you see it, it's from CBX or someone holding their cut.

Leafly, AllBud and Leafwell also say Strawberry Lemonade won first place for "Best Sativa Concentrate" at the 2015 High Times Denver Cannabis Cup. We couldn't confirm that on the Cup's own past-winners list, and none of those sources names the entrant — so treat it as reported, not verified.

What each parent brings

The strawberry side — whether it's Strawberry Cough or Barney's unnamed sativa strawberry — brings the berry nose and the energetic, talkative head high. Lemon OG, itself Las Vegas Lemon Skunk × an OG cut, brings the sharp lemon, the skunky-hash undertone and the relaxed body that arrives later in the session. Growers popping Barney's seeds report the phenotypes split between those two directions: one grower on GrowDiaries found a single distinctly "lemonade" phenotype in 50 seeds.

Strawberry Lemonade Terpene Profile

Leafly lists myrcene as Strawberry Lemonade's dominant terpene, followed by caryophyllene and pinene. Zamnesia's Barney's Farm listing pairs myrcene with limonene, and Leafwell adds linalool. No published lab profile settles it — and with two genetically different versions in circulation, the exact mix depends on the cut.

Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity

Myrcene — earthy, fruity, the relaxed body

Caryophyllene — pepper and the hashy, skunky base

Pinene — pine, a clear head

Limonene — the tangy lemon lift

Typical relative profile for Strawberry Lemonade — myrcene-led per Leafly. Lemon-dominant phenotypes usually read more limonene-forward.

  • Myrcene: Earthy, musky and faintly fruity; it's the base that keeps the berry from tasting thin and the reason the energetic start eventually settles.
  • Caryophyllene: Peppery and spicy — part of the hashy, OG-style finish on the exhale, and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
  • Pinene: Fresh pine and a big part of why the high reads clear and alert rather than foggy.
  • Limonene: The tangy lemon in the name, inherited from the Lemon OG and Lemon Skunk line, and a driver of the giggly, upbeat mood.

The strawberry isn't one terpene — it comes from the overall chemistry of the strawberry parent, which is why some cuts lean candy-strawberry and others lean sharp lemon.

Appearance

Strawberry Lemonade grows small to medium, dense buds — AllBud describes "small, round, dense, pebble-shaped" forest-green nugs, while Leafwell compares the clusters to cauliflower. Colors run from lime to forest green with dark olive sugar leaves, threaded with orange to rusty-brown pistils and a thick coat of cloudy white trichomes that can make the buds look frosted white from across the room. Some cuts show red or burgundy pistils. It's denser and more indica-looking than its sativa-leaning effects suggest.

Aroma and Flavor

Open the jar and it really does smell like strawberry lemonade: sweet strawberry and tangy citrus first, with a candy-like sweetness behind it. Break a bud and the base comes forward — Leafwell describes ground flower as dank and hash-like, close to OG Kush, and Zamnesia's Barney's Farm listing calls the taste a "funky, skunky strawberry" with "fruity hash" notes. The inhale is sweet berry and lemon; the exhale is smooth, sweet and lightly spicy. Leafly's users list lemon, strawberry and rose as the top flavors; AllBud adds berry, citrus, spicy and sweet.

Recreational Effects

Strawberry Lemonade starts bright. On Leafly, with about 300 ratings, the most-reported effects are:

  • Energetic: the headline effect — a quick, alert lift that suits daytime.
  • Giggly: social, talkative and easy to laugh — a strain for friends rather than solo focus.
  • Uplifted: a clear mood boost without much fog at moderate doses.
  • Relaxed: AllBud reviewers describe a warm, tingly body buzz arriving later in the session.
  • Focused and creative: listed on the Barney's Farm side, especially on the lemon-leaning phenotype.

How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration

  • First 5–10 minutes: a fast head change — alert, upbeat and a little giggly.
  • 15–60 minutes: the peak — energetic, chatty and creative, with the body starting to loosen.
  • 1–3 hours: the myrcene side takes over and the body relaxes. Several AllBud reviewers report a sleepy crash a few hours in at higher doses.

That arc is why Leafwell suggests late afternoon as the sweet spot: you get the social lift first and the wind-down after.

How Strong Is Strawberry Lemonade?

It depends heavily on which Strawberry Lemonade you're holding:

  • Leafly: 20% THC, 0% CBD.
  • AllBud: 16–22%, with one reviewer reporting a 26% Cannabiotix batch.
  • Leafwell: 18–28%.
  • Barney's Farm (seed line): "over 20%" in the breeder's lab tests.
  • Cannabiotix (clone-only cut): batches listed at 27–31%.

So the Barney's Farm version is a mid-to-high potency strain — strong enough to respect, not a knockout — while the award-winning CBX cut sits in the heavy-hitter tier. Barney's own advice is that "a little goes a long way." If you're prone to racing thoughts, the energetic, heady start is the part to watch.

THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Strawberry Lemonade against the 16–31% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.

Strawberry Lemonade vs Similar Strains

  • vs Pink Lemonade: the most common mix-up. Pink Lemonade is Lemon Skunk × Purple Kush — sharper lemon, more berry-purple, and a heavier, more relaxing body. Strawberry Lemonade is sweeter on the strawberry and more energetic. They share Lemon Skunk ancestry through the lemon side, but they're different strains.
  • vs Strawberry Cough: the likely strawberry parent — more energetic and purely heady, with no lemon. Strawberry Lemonade adds the citrus and a softer landing.
  • vs Lemon OG: the lemon parent — skunkier, gassier and more body-heavy. Strawberry Lemonade is fruitier and lighter.
  • vs Strawberry Kush and Strawberry Runtz: other strawberry-forward strains, both sweeter and heavier on the body. Strawberry Lemonade is the brightest of the strawberry family.
  • vs Strawberry 2.1: our closest in-stock match — a sativa-leaning Strawberry Guava × OGKB 2.1 cross with ripe strawberry up front, a faint kick of gas and an uplifting, social high. No lemon, but the same berry-and-energy lane.
  • vs Super Lemon Haze: for when you want the lemonade more than the strawberry — sharper citrus and an even more energetic sativa push.

Who Strawberry Lemonade Is (and Isn't) For

Good fit: daytime and late-afternoon smokers, social sessions, anyone who wants fruit-forward flavor with a functional lift, and fans of Strawberry Cough who want something with a softer landing.

Poor fit: anyone who gets anxious on energetic sativas, or someone shopping specifically for sleep — the relaxation comes late and isn't the point. For a heavier, dessert-style evening strain, Blueberry Pancakes is the better pick on our shelf.

How to Use Strawberry Lemonade THCA Flower — and How Much

THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.

  • Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
  • Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the strawberry and lemon before the hash comes through. Around 350–375°F keeps the citrus and berry bright; 390–410°F brings out the myrcene body.
  • Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
  • Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.

How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15–30 minutes. The energetic start can feel racy if you stack hits too fast. Regular users usually find two or three hits delivers the full arc from giggly to relaxed. You can always add more; you can't take it back.

Medicinal Benefits

These are uses consumers report on Leafly and other strain databases, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.

  • Stress: about 25% of Leafly reviewers.
  • Anxiety: about 25% report help — though "anxious" is also one of its top-reported negatives, so dose matters.
  • Low mood: about 23%, consistent with the giggly, uplifted headline effects.
  • Fatigue: the energetic start makes it a daytime pick for many; AllBud and Leafwell also list headaches and general aches among reported uses.

For a plain-language primer on how terpenes are thought to shape these effects, see Project CBD on terpenes. Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing on this page is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you take prescription medication or have a health condition, talk to your doctor before using any cannabis product.

Side Effects and Cautions

  • Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints.
  • Anxiety or paranoia — among Leafly's top negatives, usually at higher doses or low tolerance.
  • Headache — Leafly's third most-reported negative.
  • A sleepy crash — some reviewers say the energy drops off hard a few hours in.

Is Strawberry Lemonade good for sleep? Not usually — it starts too energetic, though the comedown can make you drowsy. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.

Is Strawberry Lemonade Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag

  • Ask which version. A good seller knows whether it's grown from Barney's Farm seed or is the Cannabiotix cut. The CBX cut is clone-only, so claims of it from a random seed run don't add up.
  • Flower, not flavoring. "Strawberry Lemonade" is a hugely popular vape and gummy flavor name. A strawberry-lemonade cart or drink isn't this strain — check that the product is actually the cultivar.
  • A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat 30%+ claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
  • Strawberry and lemon. A real Strawberry Lemonade has both on the nose. Pure skunk or pure lemon with no berry suggests a different phenotype — or a different strain.
  • Frost and density, with trichomes inside the bud, not just on top, and a proper cure — hay or grass smell means it was rushed.

Growing Strawberry Lemonade

The Barney's Farm version is the one home growers can actually get, and it's rated easy, with good resistance to mould, powdery mildew and spider mites. Expect a tall, vigorous plant.

  • Flowering: about 60–70 days indoors (SeedFinder lists about 65; Zamnesia's data sheet 9–10 weeks). One GrowDiaries grower harvested at 64 days.
  • Yield: Barney's claims up to 700 g/m² indoors and 1,000 g or more per plant outdoors. Real grows run lower — that GrowDiaries grower pulled about 243 g dry per plant.
  • Height: 120–150 cm indoors and up to 250 cm outdoors. Top or train early in small spaces.
  • Climate: 70–80°F with moderate humidity, per Leafwell.
  • Outdoors: harvest from early to late October in the Northern Hemisphere.
  • Phenotypes: expect variation between strawberry-leaning and lemon-leaning plants. Seed buyers on Zamnesia report mixed germination, so start extra seeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Strawberry Lemonade indica or sativa?

Strawberry Lemonade is a sativa-leaning hybrid. Leafly calls it sativa-dominant and Zamnesia's Barney's Farm listing gives 60% sativa / 40% indica, though AllBud lists it 50/50. Its most-reported effects — energetic, giggly, uplifted — are sativa-like.

What is Strawberry Lemonade a cross of?

Barney's Farm describes it as a potent, mostly sativa 'Strawberry' crossed with Lemon OG. Leafly names the strawberry parent as Strawberry Cough. The separate Cannabiotix cut is Northern Lights #5 × Strawberry Cough #3.

Who bred Strawberry Lemonade?

Barney's Farm, the Amsterdam seed company, sells the widely available seed line. Cannabiotix (CBX) in California holds a different, clone-only cut that took first place among sativa flowers at the 2016 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup.

How strong is Strawberry Lemonade?

Leafly lists 20% THC and AllBud 16–22%, which fits the Barney's Farm version. The Cannabiotix cut lists batches at 27–31%. Start small either way.

What does Strawberry Lemonade taste like?

Sweet strawberry and tangy lemon up front, a candy-like sweetness, and a skunky, hashy finish on the exhale. Leafly users also note a light rose flavor.

How does Strawberry Lemonade make you feel?

Energetic, giggly and uplifted at first, then relaxed as the session goes on. Some reviewers report a sleepy crash a few hours in at higher doses.

Is Strawberry Lemonade the same as Pink Lemonade?

No. Pink Lemonade is Lemon Skunk × Purple Kush — sharper lemon and a heavier body. Strawberry Lemonade is a strawberry × Lemon OG cross with more berry and more energy.

Is Strawberry Lemonade the same as Mike's Strawberry Lemonade?

Sources disagree. Leafly lists Mike's Strawberry Lemonade as an alias, but AllBud treats it as a separate strain bred from Lemon Tree × Strawberries and Cream. Ask the seller for the genetics.

Is Strawberry Lemonade good for anxiety?

It's mixed. About 25% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety, but 'anxious' is also one of its top-reported negatives. Its energetic start can feel racy at high doses, so low doses are the safer approach.

Is Strawberry Lemonade good for sleep?

Not usually. It's an energetic daytime strain; the relaxation arrives later and only some people report getting drowsy on the comedown.

Is Strawberry Lemonade good for beginners?

The Barney's Farm version, at around 20% THC, is manageable if you go slowly — one small puff, then wait 15–30 minutes. The higher-testing Cannabiotix cut is better left to experienced users.

How long does Strawberry Lemonade take to flower?

About 60–70 days indoors, with outdoor harvests from early to late October. It grows tall, so top or train it early.

Where can I buy Strawberry Lemonade THCA flower online?

Strawberry Lemonade isn't in the Diesel Hemp shop right now. The closest match is Strawberry 2.1 THCA Flower — ripe strawberry with a faint kick of gas and an uplifting, social high, from $22, third-party lab tested, with free shipping over $75.
