Block Party Strain: The Super Boof Family Throws a Party
The Block Party strain is a hybrid cross of Super Sherb and Blockberry — the same Blockberry that, as the selected cut called Super Boof, became Leafly's 2024 Strain of the Year. It smells like sweet berries and cream with a diesel, peppery edge, tests around 24–25% THC on the few sources that list a number, and delivers a tingly, happy, creative high that relaxes the body without pinning you to the couch. It fits the fruit-and-gas corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also a thinly documented strain. There's no confirmed breeder statement, no Leafly strain page we could verify, and no published grow data — and the name gets mixed up with a Canadian pre-roll variety pack and a Seattle music festival. Below we lay out what each source actually says, where they disagree, what the parents tell you about the high, and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Block Party's frosty buds.

- Type: Hybrid. AllBud lists it as a balanced 50% sativa / 50% indica; Primitiv's Weedmaps product listing calls it sativa-dominant. The reported effects — uplifted and creative first, relaxed after — fit a balanced hybrid.
- Ancestry: Super Sherb × Blockberry per AllBud, Weedmaps's description and THC Design's product listing. Weedmaps' parent box and Primitiv list Super Sherb × Super Boof instead.
- Breeder: Not officially confirmed. Weedmaps says the strain is widely featured in the genetics library of Block Head Buds in Southern California — the same breeder, usually called Blockhead, who made Blockberry.
- THC: AllBud lists 24–25%, and one dispensary menu repeats that range. Weedmaps describes it only as "THC-rich," with minor CBD and CBG.
- CBD: Negligible.
- Aliases: Blockparty, BlockParty. Some menus list "Block Party 43" — we couldn't confirm whether that's a phenotype number or a grower's batch label.
Blockberry or Super Boof? Why the sources disagree
They're less different than they look. Blockberry is Blockhead's Black Cherry Punch × Tropicana Cookies, bred in San Diego in 2019. Super Boof is the name a Michigan grower gave to one standout Blockberry plant, and Leafly's own Blockberry page treats the two names as the same strain. So "Super Sherb × Blockberry" and "Super Sherb × Super Boof" describe the same family — the second just names a specific selected cut. That's also why Block Party carries the berry-cherry-cream character Super Boof is known for.
What is Super Sherb?
The other parent is the heavier side. Weedmaps' Super Sherb page lists it as a cross of Sunset Sherbet and GMO (GMO Cookies), with the breeder "not publicly confirmed." GrowDiaries gives the same parents and credits In House Genetics. Leafly's Canadian Super Sherb page lists no parents at all, rates it about 17% THC, and puts limonene, caryophyllene and myrcene at the top of its terpene profile, with sleepy, relaxed and tingly as the most-reported effects. It's also sold as Super Sherb #4 and Super Sherbert.
Put together, Block Party's family tree runs back to Girl Scout Cookies through Sunset Sherbet, to garlic-and-gas GMO, and to the cherry-tropical fruit of Blockberry. The berry and cream come from the Blockberry and sherbet sides; the pepper, spice and diesel come largely from the GMO side.
Is "Block Party" always the same strain?
No — check the label. In Canada, Trygg sells a "Block Party" pre-roll pack that BC Cannabis Stores describes as a variety pack of two different, unnamed hybrid cultivars. That's a product name, not the Super Sherb × Blockberry strain on this page.
Block Party Terpene Profile
Weedmaps lists caryophyllene, limonene and humulene as Block Party's top three terpenes, and THC Design's product listing names the same trio. Super Sherb's profile adds myrcene. Caryophyllene is the interesting lead — a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, clove, diesel spice
Limonene — berry-citrus sweetness, mood lift
Humulene — woody, herbal, earthy
Myrcene — musky fruit, relaxed body
Typical relative profile for Block Party based on Weedmaps' and THC Design's top-three listings; myrcene is inferred from the Super Sherb parent. Individual batches vary.
- Caryophyllene: The peppery, clove-like spice and part of the gassy finish — and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: The sweet berry-citrus brightness and the lemony note on the exhale; linked with the uplifted onset.
- Humulene: Woody, herbal and hoppy; it's why reviewers describe the back end as "herbal" and "woody" rather than pure candy.
- Myrcene: Musky and fruity; a likely contributor to the relaxed body, carried over from the Super Sherb side.
The cream and berry aren't a single terpene — they're the combined chemistry of the sherbet and Blockberry lines. The diesel and pepper read louder on cuts that lean toward Super Sherb's GMO ancestry.
Appearance
AllBud describes Block Party as long, dense, triangle-shaped nugs in bright neon green, with dark leaves, thin orange hairs and a sparkling coat of tiny golden-white trichomes. That fits both parents: Blockberry is known for heavy resin, and the sherbet line tends toward dense, frosty buds. Expect some variation from grower to grower — this is a young strain without a single dominant clone.
Aroma and Flavor
Open a jar and the first hit is sweet berry and fruity candy, followed by earth, pine and a gassy, spicy diesel note. AllBud lists berry, diesel, earthy, pine, spicy and woody for the aroma, and calls the diesel note "playful." On the inhale it's sweet and fruity with berry; on the exhale it turns creamy, with lemon and pine. Weedmaps and THC Design describe a more peppery, clove-and-herb, gassy profile — a reminder that the GMO side of Super Sherb shows up more in some cuts than others.
- Sweet side: berry, citrus, cream, fruity candy.
- Savory side: pepper, clove, herbs, pine, wood.
- Gas: a diesel edge that ties it back to modern gas strains.
Recreational Effects
Every source we found describes the same arc: a quick, tingly, happy onset, a creative middle, and a relaxed body that doesn't turn into couch-lock. The most-reported effects across AllBud, Weedmaps and retailer listings:
- Euphoric and uplifted: a fast mood lift — one dispensary calls it a "tingly, happy rush."
- Creative: ideas come easily in the first hour; AllBud highlights increased creativity.
- Tingly: a buzzy body sensation early on, listed by AllBud and Primitiv.
- Relaxed and calm: a body high that settles in without locking you to the couch.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a tingly, happy head change — reviewers describe it as fast.
- 15–60 minutes: the peak — social, creative and upbeat, with the body loosening.
- 1–3 hours: a calm, relaxed settle. At higher doses the Super Sherb side can turn it sleepier.
Because Super Sherb leans sleepy and Blockberry leans energetic, dose shapes this strain more than most: a little reads like a daytime social strain, more reads like an evening wind-down.

Block Party, rolled and lit over a colorful enamel ashtray — a fitting strain for a social session.

How Strong Is Block Party?
Strong, but not record-breaking. The only published number is AllBud's 24–25% THC, repeated on at least one dispensary menu. Weedmaps gives no percentage, and there is no Leafly average we could verify. For context, its parents sit at different ends of the scale: Leafly's Canadian Super Sherb page lists about 17%, while Blockberry is listed at 28% on Leafly and up to 30% on AllBud.
So a well-grown Block Party should land in the mid-20s, and some batches will test higher. As with any strain, the grower and the batch matter more than the name — check the paperwork, not the menu.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a batch of Block Party against the 24–25% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Block Party vs Similar Strains
- vs Blockberry and Super Boof: the fruit-forward parent. Blockberry is more cherry, orange and vanilla cream, and more energizing. Block Party adds pepper, diesel and a heavier body from Super Sherb.
- vs Sunset Sherbet: the grandparent. Creamy, fruity and relaxing; Block Party is gassier and more peppery.
- vs GMO: the other grandparent — garlic, funk and heavy sedation. Block Party keeps a little of the gas and spice but is far sweeter and lighter.
- vs Permanent Marker: a cousin through the sherbet line — (Biscotti × Sherb Bx) × Jealousy. It's louder and more indica-leaning, with candy, floral and gas notes instead of berry and cream, so it lands heavier in the body. It's our closest match on the shelf.
- vs Sherb Cake and Rainbow Sherbet: other Sherbet-family hybrids with the same creamy-fruit base — Sherb Cake adds frosting and pepper, Rainbow Sherbet more candy fruit.
Who Block Party Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: social sessions, afternoon creative work, and anyone who likes fruit-and-cream flavor with some gas behind it. Experienced users who want a balanced hybrid that relaxes without sedating.
Poor fit: brand-new users — mid-20s THC is still strong — and anyone looking for a knockout sleep strain. If you want a heavier evening option, Mule Fuel carries the GMO side further.
How to Use Block Party THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the berry and cream before the pepper takes over. Around 350–380°F keeps the limonene-driven fruit; 390–410°F brings out the caryophyllene spice and a heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15–30 minutes before taking more. Regular users usually find two or three hits delivers the full social, creative arc without tipping into sleepy. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers and retailers report, not established clinical outcomes. Block Party has very few written reviews (AllBud shows a 4.4 rating from 12 votes and no written reviews), so treat any list as early.
- Stress: the most common reported use — the calming, relaxed body without couch-lock.
- Low mood: consistent with the euphoric, uplifted onset.
- Aches and tension: AllBud and retailer listings mention chronic pain and inflammation; Primitiv says the body high "may provide pain relief."
- Anxiety: listed by AllBud — but potent hybrids can also cause anxiety at high doses, so start low.

If you take prescription medication or have a health condition, talk to your doctor before using any cannabis product.
Side Effects and Cautions
No source we found lists negatives for Block Party specifically, which reflects the small number of reviews rather than a side-effect-free strain. Expect what's typical for a mid-20s hybrid:
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints with any THC strain, and Super Sherb's top-reported negative on Leafly.
- Anxiety or racing thoughts — more likely at high doses or low tolerance.
- Drowsiness — the Super Sherb side can make larger doses sleepy.
Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Block Party Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Make sure it's the strain, not a pack. "Block Party" pre-roll packs in Canada are a two-strain variety pack. Look for the Super Sherb × Blockberry lineage on the label or menu.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Berry and gas. A true Block Party has sweet berry-cream up front and pepper or diesel behind it. Flat, grassy or one-note sweet suggests a poor cure or a different cut.
- Dense, frosty buds with trichomes all the way into the center, not just a dusting on top.
- A proper cure — the jar should smell loud the moment it opens, and buds should break with a slight spring, not crumble.
Growing Block Party
There's no published grow data for Block Party itself — no breeder sheet, no SeedFinder entry we could find. The parents give a reasonable guide:
- Flowering: likely around 8–10 weeks indoors. Blockberry finishes in about 58–68 days per SeedFinder grower reports; Super Sherb takes about 60–75 days per GrowDiaries.
- Structure: Blockberry shows considerable stretch and solid lateral branching, so expect to top and train.
- Resin: both parents are resinous, and Blockberry is a known hash and rosin performer.
- Seeds and clones: no widely sold seed line is confirmed. Weedmaps places it in Block Head Buds' genetics library; licensed producers such as Primitiv and THC Design have grown it.
Is Block Party THCA Flower Legal?

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Block Party indica or sativa?
Block Party is a hybrid. AllBud lists it as 50% sativa / 50% indica, while one licensed producer's listing calls it sativa-dominant. Its reported effects — uplifted and creative, then relaxed without couch-lock — fit a balanced hybrid.
What is Block Party a cross of?
Super Sherb × Blockberry, per AllBud, Weedmaps' description and THC Design. Some listings give Super Sherb × Super Boof — Super Boof is a selected Blockberry cut, so it's the same family.
Who bred the Block Party strain?
The breeder isn't officially confirmed. Weedmaps says it's widely featured in the genetics library of Block Head Buds in Southern California — the breeder known as Blockhead, who also made Blockberry.
How strong is Block Party?
AllBud lists 24–25% THC, the only published range. Its parents span about 17% (Super Sherb on Leafly) to 28–30% (Blockberry), so expect a mid-20s strain that can test higher.
What does Block Party taste like?
Sweet berry and fruity candy on the inhale, then a creamy, lemon-and-pine exhale. Some cuts are more peppery, clove-like and gassy, with a diesel edge.
What are Block Party's terpenes?
Weedmaps lists caryophyllene, limonene and humulene as the top three, and THC Design's product listing names the same trio. Myrcene shows up in the Super Sherb parent.
What are the effects of Block Party?
Reported effects are euphoric, uplifted, creative, tingly and relaxed. Reviewers describe a fast, happy onset and a body high that doesn't become couch-lock.
Is Block Party the same as Super Boof?
No. Super Boof is a selected cut of Blockberry, which is one of Block Party's parents. Block Party adds Super Sherb (Sunset Sherbet × GMO per Weedmaps), which brings more pepper, gas and body.
Is Block Party good for sleep?
Not usually at small doses — it's more social and creative. Larger doses can turn sleepy because of the Super Sherb side, but it isn't a dedicated sleep strain.
Is Block Party good for anxiety?
Some consumers report it helps with stress and anxiety, but any mid-20s THC strain can cause anxiety at high doses. Start with one small puff and wait.
Is Block Party a strain or a variety pack?
Both names exist. The strain is Super Sherb × Blockberry. In Canada, Trygg sells a "Block Party" pre-roll pack that mixes two unnamed hybrid cultivars — check the label.
How long does Block Party take to flower?
There's no published figure for Block Party itself. Based on its parents — Blockberry at about 58–68 days and Super Sherb at about 60–75 days — expect roughly 8–10 weeks indoors.
Where can I buy Block Party THCA flower online?
Block Party isn't in the Diesel Hemp shop right now. The closest match is Permanent Marker THCA Flower — a Sherbet-family hybrid with loud candy-and-gas flavor and a relaxed body, heavier than Block Party. It's from $29, third-party lab tested, with free shipping over $75.
