Slurty 3 Strain: Oakland's Slurricane × Gelato 33 Dessert Hybrid
The Slurty 3 strain — usually written Slurty3 — is an indica-dominant hybrid bred by Purple City Genetics in Oakland, California, by crossing Slurricane with Gelato 33. It smells sweet, earthy and floral with a peppery, slightly gassy edge, it often finishes in deep purple, and its high is known for something unusual in a heavy-leaning strain: it makes people giggly and talkative before it settles into the body. It sits in the dessert-and-fruit corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also a name that causes confusion. One major strain database lists "Slurty" with completely different parents, the potency numbers range from the high teens to the mid-30s depending on who you ask, and the "3" isn't explained by the breeder. Below: what the sources actually agree on, where they don't, what the high is like, how to use it, how to grow it, and how to judge a bag.
A 360° look at Slurty 3's frosty buds.

Slurty 3 Strain Genetics & Lineage
- Type: Indica-dominant hybrid on Leafly, Weedmaps and SeedFinder; AllBud puts its "Slurty" at 70% indica. Good Day Farm sells it simply as an indica.
- Ancestry: Slurricane × Gelato 33. Slurricane is itself Do-Si-Dos × Purple Punch, so Slurty 3 is roughly half Gelato 33, a quarter Do-Si-Dos and a quarter Purple Punch.
- Breeder: Purple City Genetics, Oakland, CA — credited by Leafly, Weedmaps and SeedFinder.
- THC: Leafly lists 22%; SeedFinder 19–23%; AllBud 24–25%. A Canadian producer, Carmel, lists 29–35% on its Ontario retail page.
- CBD: Essentially none — Leafly lists 0%. Leafly also shows around 1% CBG on some lab-tested listings.
- Aliases: Slurty3, Slurty #3, Su3. A separate Dr. Blaze seed line is also sold as "Slurty 3."
Where Slurty 3 comes from
In a December 2022 trend report, Leafly flagged Slurty3 as the fastest-rising strain in its Western US search data — up 34.5% in a single month — and said the cross "has the makings of a commercial staple." The same report traced its parentage back through some of the West Coast's best-known breeding: Cookies' Jigga, Mr. Sherbinski (of Gelato fame), Oregon's Archive Seed Bank and Symbiotic Genetics. It credited Purple City Genetics' "Cowboy" with making the original Slurricane selection. Clone nurseries like Conception Nurseries still list Slurty3 as one of their popular cuts, and it's grown commercially in California, Canada and several US medical markets.
Purple City Genetics has continued to breed with it. SeedFinder lists two in-house offspring — Hooch (Slurty #3 × Street Guru) and Pinnacle (Slurty #3 × Gush Mints) — and Leafly also lists Betty Ford as a descendant.
The "Slurty" mix-up
Search "Slurty" and the top result, AllBud, lists it as Do-Si-Dos × Purple Punch and calls it a "sister" of Slurricane. That's Slurricane's own parentage, not Slurty 3's. Every breeder-linked source — Leafly, Weedmaps, SeedFinder, Leafly's trend report, and producers like Good Day Farm and Carmel — lists Slurricane × Gelato 33. Even an AllBud reviewer corrects it in the comments. Our read: AllBud's "Slurty" entry blends Slurricane with Slurty 3. Treat Slurricane × Gelato 33 as the real cross.
What does the "3" mean? The breeder hasn't said publicly. Numbered names in cannabis usually mark the keeper plant from a phenotype hunt (Gelato 33 is named the same way), and that's the likeliest explanation — but it's not confirmed.
Slurty 3 Terpene Profile
Leafly lists caryophyllene as Slurty 3's dominant terpene, followed by limonene and humulene. Good Day Farm's lab-sourced listing adds linalool and beta-pinene; SeedFinder adds bisabolol and myrcene. Caryophyllene is the interesting one — a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, spice, the Gelato backbone
Limonene — citrus-berry lift
Humulene — earthy, woody, hoppy
Linalool — floral, calming
Typical relative profile for Slurty 3 — caryophyllene-led per Leafly and Good Day Farm. Batches vary; some list myrcene or bisabolol in the top five.
- Caryophyllene: The peppery, spicy base — inherited largely from the Gelato side — and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: The citrus-berry brightness on the inhale, and a likely driver of the giggly, talkative onset.
- Humulene: Earthy and woody, the same terpene that gives hops their bite; it gives Slurty 3 its grounded, earthy middle.
- Linalool: The floral note in the flavor, and part of why the finish reads calm rather than racy.
Leafly's tagline — "sweet, earthy, and floral" — is basically those four terpenes in order of what you notice.
Appearance
Slurty 3 is a looker. Conception Nurseries describes large, conical colas with dark purple saturating both the flower and the fan leaves late in bloom — the Purple Punch side showing through Slurricane. Weedmaps describes bright green, chunky, dense nugs with orange hairs, a heavy frosting of trichomes and pink streaks; AllBud's listing calls them fat, popcorn-shaped and dusty with purple-tinted trichomes. How purple a batch gets depends on the cut and on cool night temperatures late in flower, so green-and-orange jars and near-black purple jars can both be legitimate Slurty 3.
Aroma and Flavor
Open a jar and you get sweet berry and flowers first, then earth and a peppery spice underneath. Break a bud and a gassy Gelato note comes forward — Conception Nurseries describes "gassy Gelato notes," and one Leafly reviewer summed it up as "ripe gassy loud purple fruit." Leafly's flavor tags are flowery, earthy and berry. Good Day Farm describes the aroma as earthy, floral, diesel and spicy with a citrus-diesel-spice flavor, and Carmel's Ontario listing calls it "gas, cake and fruit." Other growers report hints of mint and blueberry. The common thread: dessert sweetness on top, spice and a little fuel on the exhale.
Recreational Effects
For an indica-dominant strain, Slurty 3 starts surprisingly social. On Leafly, the top-reported effects are:
- Giggly: the signature — a lot of reviewers mention laughing more than expected.
- Talkative: a chatty, connected head change that suits small groups.
- Happy: a warm mood lift rather than a racing, heady one.
- Relaxed: the body side, which deepens as the session goes on.
Weedmaps describes it as sedative-leaning but "not debilitating" in moderation, and Conception Nurseries calls it "less narcotic than other Gelato crosses." AllBud's listing goes the other way, warning the high can make you feel "immovable and pretty sleepy." The honest takeaway: a small dose is social and giggly; a big dose is a couch strain.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–15 minutes: a light, happy head change — conversation gets easier and things get funnier.
- 15–90 minutes: the peak — euphoric and talkative, with the body starting to loosen.
- 1.5–3 hours: a long, relaxed settle. Indacloud puts total duration at about three to four hours; at higher doses the second half gets heavy and sleepy.
Is Slurty 3 better for day or night? Most people save it for the evening. The social onset makes it a good after-work or dinner-party strain, but the finish isn't built for getting things done.

How Strong Is Slurty 3?
Slurty 3 is a high-THC strain, but the numbers vary more than usual:
- Leafly: 22% THC, 0% CBD — "higher THC than average."
- SeedFinder: 19–23%.
- AllBud: 24–25% on average; one reviewer reports a batch at 27.2%.
- Carmel (Ontario): lists 29–35% on its retail page — a producer range, not an independent average.
So how strong is it? A typical Slurty 3 lands in the low-to-mid 20s, which is strong but not record-setting. What makes it feel stronger than the number is the arc: the giggly onset is easy to keep chasing, and the heavy finish catches up with you. Leafly flags it as "an ideal choice for experienced cannabis consumers."
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Slurty 3 batch against the 19–25%+ range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Slurty 3 vs Similar Strains
- vs Slurricane: the parent — grapier, heavier and more purple-forward. Slurty 3 adds Gelato's creamy spice and a more social onset.
- vs Gelato 33: the other parent — sweeter and more balanced. Slurty 3 is heavier in the body and darker in color.
- vs Purple Punch and Do-Si-Dos: the grandparents. Purple Punch brings the fruit and color; Do-Si-Dos brings the weight and the earthy, floral edge.
- vs Ice Cream Cake: another Gelato 33 descendant — creamier and more sedating, with less of Slurty 3's giggly lift.
- vs Super Boof: not the same strain — Super Boof is Black Cherry Punch × Tropicana Cookies — but it shares Purple Punch ancestry and the same dessert-fruit sweetness and giggly-to-relaxed arc. It's the closest match on our shelf, honestly a little brighter and fruitier than Slurty 3.
Who Slurty 3 Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: experienced smokers who want an evening strain that starts social instead of sleepy; fans of dessert strains with a peppery edge; small-group sessions and movie nights.
Poor fit: beginners, anyone who needs to be productive, or people prone to THC anxiety — "paranoid" is one of Leafly's listed negatives. For a gassier, heavier evening option, Mule Fuel leans further toward the couch.
How to Use Slurty 3 THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the berry and floral top notes. Around 350–380°F keeps the sweetness and limonene; 390–410°F brings out the caryophyllene spice and heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15–30 minutes — the body side builds slowly. Regular users usually find two or three hits gives the social onset without tipping into couch-lock. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and elsewhere, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety: the top reason on Leafly, cited by about 41% of reviewers — though "paranoid" is also listed as a negative, so dose matters.
- Low mood: about 30% of Leafly reviewers, in line with the happy, giggly headline effects.
- Stress: about 30% of Leafly reviewers.
- Pain and sleep: Leafly notes patients choose it for pain; AllBud and Good Day Farm list chronic pain and insomnia as common reasons too.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly.
- Paranoia — listed by Leafly, mostly at high doses or low tolerance.
- Heavy sedation — AllBud warns it can leave you "immovable"; plan for that if you take a lot.
- Harsh smoke — one AllBud reviewer found it hard on the throat, which is often a sign of a rushed cure.
Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Slurty 3 Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Check the cross. Real Slurty 3 is Slurricane × Gelato 33. A label that says Do-Si-Dos × Purple Punch is describing Slurricane.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat mid-30s claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Sweet and spicy. A good jar has berry-floral sweetness and a peppery, slightly gassy finish. Flat hay or grass means a poor cure.
- Dense, frosty buds with trichomes inside the nug, not just on the surface. Purple is a bonus, not a requirement.
- A smooth burn. Harsh, coughy smoke is a cure problem, not a strain trait.
Growing Slurty 3
Slurty 3 has mostly been distributed as clones through nurseries like Conception, with feminized seed versions (including a Dr. Blaze S1) now available. Grower data is thin — GrowDiaries lists only a couple of logged grows — so treat these as rough guides.
- Difficulty: GrowDiaries says it "demands attention and care" and suits growers with a few harvests behind them.
- Yield: GrowDiaries puts it around 350–450 g/m² indoors and 600–800 g per plant outdoors.
- Structure: large, conical colas and dense buds — good airflow and defoliation help prevent mold.
- Color: dark purple shows late in flower, especially with cooler night temperatures.
- Flowering time: we couldn't find a breeder-published figure, so harvest by the trichomes (mostly cloudy, some amber) rather than the calendar.
Is Slurty 3 THCA Flower Legal?
Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is federally legal when it contains no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry-weight basis — see the USDA hemp program. THCA flower is sold under that rule. State laws differ and are changing, so check your state before you order. And whatever the label says, THCA flower will show up on a drug test — heated, it is THC.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Slurty 3 a sativa or indica strain?
Slurty 3 is an indica-dominant hybrid — Leafly, Weedmaps and SeedFinder all list it that way, and AllBud puts its Slurty at 70% indica. The onset is social and giggly, though, so it doesn't feel like a pure couch strain until the second half.
What is Slurty 3 a cross of?
Slurricane × Gelato 33, bred by Purple City Genetics in Oakland, California. Slurricane itself is Do-Si-Dos × Purple Punch.
What is Slurty?
Slurty usually means Slurty 3 (Slurty3). AllBud's "Slurty" listing gives Do-Si-Dos × Purple Punch as the parents, but that's Slurricane's lineage; breeder-linked sources list Slurty 3 as Slurricane × Gelato 33.
How strong is Slurty 3?
Leafly lists 22% THC, SeedFinder 19–23% and AllBud 24–25%, with some producers listing much higher. Most batches land in the low-to-mid 20s, so it's best for experienced consumers.
What does Slurty 3 taste like?
Sweet berry and floral notes up front, then earth, pepper and a light gassy finish. Some batches lean citrus or mint.
What are the effects of Slurty 3?
Leafly reviewers report giggly, talkative and happy effects first, then a relaxed body that gets heavy at higher doses.
Is Slurty 3 good for sleep?
At higher doses, often — the finish is heavy and some sources describe it as sleepy. At small doses it's more social than sedating.
Is Slurty 3 good for anxiety?
It's mixed. About 41% of Leafly reviewers say it helps with anxiety, but paranoia is also a listed negative. Low doses are the safer approach.
How long does a Slurty 3 high last?
Smoked or vaped, expect about two to four hours, with the peak in the first hour or so and a long, relaxed settle.
Why are Slurty 3 buds purple?
The color comes from its Purple Punch ancestry through Slurricane. It usually shows late in flower and gets deeper with cooler night temperatures.
Who breeds Slurty 3?
Purple City Genetics, an Oakland breeder. It has since been grown by producers in California, Canada and other markets, and a Dr. Blaze seed version also exists.
Where can I buy Slurty 3 THCA flower online?
