Sherblato Strain: Sherbet and Gelato in One Scoop
The Sherblato strain is a dessert hybrid made by crossing Sunset Sherbet with Gelato — and the name is just the two parents mashed together. Because Gelato is itself a Sunset Sherbet child, Sherblato is really Sherbet bred back onto its own offspring. The result smells like tart citrus and sweet cream with a nutty, gassy edge, and delivers a tingly, happy head with a relaxed body underneath. It sits in the dessert corner of our THCA flower collection.
It's also a strain with more questions than answers. The databases don't agree on whether it leans sativa or indica, who bred it, or how strong it is — and at least one seller uses the name for a different plant entirely. Below: the real lineage, the breeder question, what the potency numbers mean, how the high unfolds, how to use it, how to grow it, how to judge a bag, and the closest match we actually carry.
A 360° look at Sherblato's frosty buds.

- Type: Hybrid. AllBud lists it as a 70% sativa-dominant hybrid; VIVOSUN calls it 50/50; Leafly simply says hybrid. Its most-reported effects — tingly, relaxed, hungry — read more balanced-to-relaxed than sativa, and several AllBud reviewers call it indica-leaning.
- Ancestry: Sunset Sherbet × Gelato. Leafly, AllBud and WholesomeCo all list Sherbet × Gelato; SeedFinder narrows the Gelato parent to Gelato #33. Leafly's family tree also lists Pink Panties and GSC further back.
- Breeder: SeedFinder credits Flavour Chasers. ILGM says the strain is "frequently associated" with Flavour Chasers but calls the original breeder unclear, Premium Cultivars sells Sherblato seeds, and one strain blog links to Foreign Genetics. No source gives a documented origin story, so treat the breeder as unconfirmed.
- THC: AllBud 21–22%; VIVOSUN 20–24%; Leafly and ILGM 25%.
- CBD: Negligible. Leafly lists about 1% CBG.
Why Sherblato is "mostly Sherbet"
Gelato was bred from Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC. Cross Gelato back to Sunset Sherbet and, on paper, roughly three-quarters of the pedigree traces to Sunset Sherbet — which itself comes from Pink Panties × GSC. That's why Sherblato tastes more like tart, fruity sherbet than minty cookie, and why it lands closer to Sunset Sherbet's relaxed calm than to a racy sativa. It's a backcross in spirit: lock in the parent's flavor, keep Gelato's frost and cream.
Name confusion: Black, Blue, Cake — and a different "Sherblato"
- Black Sherblato, Blue Sherblato and Sherblato Cake turn up on menus and grow logs. ILGM describes them as phenotype-level names rather than separate cultivars; Sherblato Cake has its own GrowDiaries listing. None is the same plant as plain Sherblato, so ask what you're actually buying.
- Sherb Cream Pie sold as "Sherblato." At least one Michigan grower markets its Sherb Cream Pie — Ice Cream Cake × Sherb Bx1 — under the Sherblato name. It's a related Sherbet dessert strain, but it isn't Sunset Sherbet × Gelato.
Sherblato Terpene Profile
Leafly lists caryophyllene as Sherblato's dominant terpene, followed by limonene and myrcene; ILGM and VIVOSUN report the same three (VIVOSUN leads with limonene). That's the classic Gelato-family stack. Caryophyllene stands out on its own — a 2008 PNAS study identified beta-caryophyllene as a "dietary cannabinoid" that binds CB2 receptors.
Terpene Profile — Relative Intensity
Caryophyllene — pepper, nutty spice, light gas
Limonene — tart citrus, bright lift
Myrcene — herbal, ripe fruit, relaxed body
Linalool — soft floral, calm
Typical relative profile for Sherblato — caryophyllene-led per Leafly, with limonene and myrcene close behind. Linalool is a minor note common in the Sherbet family; some batches run limonene-first.
- Caryophyllene: The peppery, nutty backbone behind Leafly's "chestnut" note and the light gas on the exhale — and the only common terpene known to act directly on CB2 receptors.
- Limonene: The tart citrus and the happy, upbeat onset. It's the "sherbet" in Sherblato.
- Myrcene: Herbal and fruity; it gives the body its relaxed floor and helps explain why many reviewers call it calming.
- Linalool: A minor floral note in many Sherbet-family cuts, adding to the soft, unhurried finish.
The cream isn't one terpene — it's the Gelato side's overall chemistry. Batches that taste flat and peppery with no citrus are usually under-cured or a different cut.
Appearance
AllBud describes small, popcorn-shaped forest-green nugs with dark olive leaves, deep amber hairs and a coat of tiny, purple-tinted white trichomes. HashDash and other strain blogs report purple hues mixed into the green and bright orange pistils — the look that made Sherblato a favorite for close-up photos and grinder videos on social media. Expect dense, frosty buds; purple shows up more in cool-finished batches.
Aroma and Flavor
Open a jar and the first hit is tart citrus and sweet fruit, with tropical and earthy notes behind it. Break a bud and AllBud's reviewers describe a gassy, pungent note "with a hint of nutty cookie." Leafly's users name apricot, chestnut and citrus as the top flavors, and describe "a tart citrus flavor with gassy notes." AllBud adds nutty, sour, sweet and tropical; VIVOSUN calls it fruity, sweet and creamy with citrus, earth and pine underneath.
In practice: tart citrus and stone fruit on the inhale, sweet cream through the middle, and a nutty, lightly gassy exhale. It's a dessert strain, but a tangy one rather than a heavy, cakey one.
Recreational Effects
Sherblato's reputation is a calm that doesn't flatten you. Leafly describes it as "tingly and buzzy," calming without being overwhelming for the rest of the day. On Leafly, with more than 100 ratings averaging 4.4 out of 5, the most-reported effects are:
- Tingly: the headline feeling — a buzzy, full-body tingle soon after the first hits.
- Relaxed: a steady body calm that deepens with dose.
- Hungry: a real case of the munchies is common.
- Happy and euphoric: the top positives on HashDash, along with "relaxed."
- Creative and social: what ILGM and VIVOSUN highlight for the early part of the high.
How the high unfolds: onset, peak and duration
- First 5–10 minutes: a light, happy lift in the head and a tingle through the body. WholesomeCo notes it can feel "instant" and full-body.
- 15–60 minutes: the peak — upbeat and chatty at first, with the relaxed body taking over. AllBud's reviewers describe it moving from head to a "stoned," body-heavy calm.
- 1–3 hours: a slow, mellow comedown. Most people stay functional at moderate doses; heavy doses lean couch-friendly.
Because the body side builds over the first half hour, pace yourself — the second and third hits land harder than the first.

How Strong Is Sherblato?
Sherblato is a strong but not record-chasing strain. The published numbers:
- Leafly: 25% THC, about 1% CBG — "higher than average."
- ILGM: 25% THC.
- VIVOSUN: 20–24%.
- AllBud: 21–22% average.
Real jars vary more than those ranges suggest — one Leafly reviewer reported a label at 15%. WholesomeCo, a Utah medical dispensary, still calls it a potent strain with intense effects that "may not be suitable for patients newer to cannabis." The fair read: low-to-mid 20s is typical, its appeal is flavor and a balanced high rather than raw potency, and a newcomer should still go slow.
THCA flower is labeled differently from dispensary flower: the lab reports THCA, which converts to THC when heated, plus a small amount of delta-9 THC. When you compare a Sherblato batch against the 20–25% range above, compare total THC on the COA, not the headline number — our guide on how to read a THCA flower COA walks through the math.
Sherblato vs Similar Strains
- vs Sunset Sherbet: the dominant parent. Sunset Sherbet is fruitier and a little heavier; Sherblato adds Gelato's cream, frost and a more upbeat start.
- vs Gelato and Gelato 33: Gelato has more Thin Mint cookie and mint; Sherblato trades that for tart citrus and nutty sherbet.
- vs Lemon Cherry Gelato: a close cousin from the same Sunset Sherbet × GSC family. Candied cherry and lemon in place of Sherblato's apricot-citrus, the same cream-over-gas base, and the same happy-then-relaxed arc. It's the closest match on our shelf.
- vs Sherb Cake and Sherb Cream Pie: other Sherbet desserts, crossed with Wedding Cake and Ice Cream Cake. Both are cakier, heavier and more indica-leaning.
- vs Sherbanger: Sunset Sherbet × Headbanger — the same Sherbet mother, but with a loud Sour Diesel gas instead of cream.
- vs Rainbow Sherbet: sweeter, berry-forward and more candy-like; Sherblato is tangier and nuttier.
Who Sherblato Is (and Isn't) For
Good fit: dessert-strain fans who want something tangy rather than cakey; afternoon and evening social sessions; people who want a relaxed body without full couch-lock.
Poor fit: anyone chasing the highest THC on the menu, sativa fans hoping for a racing head high, or anyone who wants a dedicated sleep strain. For a heavier, gassier Sherbet-family night, Permanent Marker is the stronger-feeling option on our shelf.
How to Use Sherblato THCA Flower — and How Much
THCA has to be heated to do anything. Raw, it isn't intoxicating; heat converts it to THC (decarboxylation), which is why the method matters as much as the strain.
- Smoking (joint, pipe, bong): the fastest onset. Take one or two small hits, then wait 10–15 minutes before deciding on more.
- Dry-herb vaporizer: the best way to taste the citrus and cream. Around 350–380°F keeps the tart, fruity top notes; 390–410°F brings out the nutty, peppery caryophyllene and the heavier body.
- Pre-rolls: the no-prep option — see our THCA pre-rolls.
- Homemade edibles: decarb the flower first. Edibles take 30–120 minutes to kick in and last far longer, so start low and wait the full two hours.
How much? New or occasional users: one or two small puffs, then wait 15–30 minutes — the body side builds after the first rush. Regular users usually find two or three hits delivers the full arc. You can always add more; you can't take it back.
Medicinal Benefits
These are uses consumers report on Leafly and similar sites, not established clinical outcomes. Individual response varies with dose, tolerance and chemotype.
- Anxiety and stress: the most-cited reason on Leafly (about 20% of reviewers mention anxiety).
- Low mood: about 11% of Leafly reviewers, consistent with the happy, euphoric start.
- Aches and pain: about 11% on Leafly; AllBud lists chronic pain, headaches and migraines.
- Appetite: "hungry" is one of its top-reported feelings, and WholesomeCo lists appetite loss among the reasons patients choose it.

Side Effects and Cautions
- Dry mouth and dry eyes — the most common complaints on Leafly and HashDash.
- Headache — Leafly's top-listed negative, usually after overdoing it.
- Dizziness, anxiety or paranoia — reported mainly at high doses or low tolerance.
- The munchies — plan for them.
Is Sherblato good for sleep? It can help you wind down at higher doses, but it's calming rather than truly sedating. Don't drive after using it, and talk to your doctor first if you take prescription medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a heart condition.
Is Sherblato Top Shelf? How to Judge a Good Bag
- Confirm the cross. Real Sherblato is Sunset Sherbet × Gelato. "Black," "Blue" and "Cake" versions are different plants, and some sellers use the name for Sherb Cream Pie.
- A current third-party COA naming the lab, with THCA, delta-9 and total THC. Treat big potency claims without paperwork as marketing. Ours are on the lab results page.
- Tart citrus and cream. A good jar has both, plus a nutty, gassy finish when you break a bud.
- Frost and color — dense, popcorn-to-medium buds with purple-tinted trichomes, amber-orange hairs and resin inside the bud, not just on top.
- A proper cure — hay or grass smell means it was rushed, and it kills the sherbet top notes first.
Growing Sherblato
Sherblato is a photoperiod plant that does well indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse. ILGM rates it intermediate to advanced, mainly because it stretches and its dense buds need airflow; VIVOSUN calls it "a resilient plant" but recommends regular pruning and humidity control to prevent mold.
- Flowering: about 7–9 weeks indoors. SeedFinder lists roughly 56 days (50–60); VIVOSUN says 8–9 weeks.
- Yield: ILGM reports 1–2 oz/ft² (about 305–610 g/m²) indoors and 2–3 oz per plant outdoors.
- Height: sources differ — VIVOSUN says medium; ILGM reports 5–7 ft. Top or train early either way.
- Climate: warm and dry, Mediterranean-style, per ILGM. Outdoor harvest lands around mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere.
- Seeds: listed from Flavour Chasers (SeedFinder) and sold by Premium Cultivars; most are feminized.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sherblato indica or sativa?
Sherblato is a hybrid, and sources disagree on the lean. AllBud lists it 70% sativa and VIVOSUN calls it 50/50, but its top-reported effects — tingly, relaxed and hungry — read balanced to relaxed, and many reviewers describe it as indica-leaning.
What is Sherblato a cross of?
Sunset Sherbet × Gelato. SeedFinder specifies the Gelato #33 cut. Because Gelato is itself Sunset Sherbet × Thin Mint GSC, Sherblato is, on paper, mostly Sunset Sherbet.
Who bred Sherblato?
SeedFinder credits Flavour Chasers, but no source documents an origin story and other sites call the original breeder unclear. Premium Cultivars also sells Sherblato seeds.
How strong is Sherblato?
Most sources put it between 20% and 25% THC — AllBud 21–22%, VIVOSUN 20–24%, Leafly 25%. It's potent enough that beginners should start with one small puff, but its reputation rests more on flavor and a balanced high than raw strength.
What are the effects of Sherblato?
Leafly users most often report feeling tingly, relaxed and hungry, with happy and euphoric close behind. The high starts upbeat and social, then settles into a body calm without heavy couch-lock at moderate doses.

What terpenes are in Sherblato?
Caryophyllene is dominant per Leafly, followed by limonene and myrcene.
Is Sherblato good for anxiety?

Is Sherblato good for sleep?
It's calming more than sedating. At higher doses it can help you wind down, but it isn't a knockout strain.
What is Black Sherblato?
A separate Sherblato selection or cross sold under its own name, along with Blue Sherblato and Sherblato Cake. ILGM describes these as phenotype-level names; none is identical to plain Sunset Sherbet × Gelato.
How long does Sherblato take to flower?
About 7–9 weeks indoors — SeedFinder lists roughly 56 days — with outdoor harvests around mid-October.
Where can I buy Sherblato THCA flower online?
